Dating thread rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize - they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Do unto others as you would have them do to you.

And a reminder - you don't know them until you know them!

lifegoes was already to go maybe he’s seen the error in his ways. But seems he’s gone too far in the other direction

ItsAMiracle2015 · 22/03/2019 15:22

You've got to wash your hair? 😂😂. Haha sorry. Hopefully someone will have something more helpful to say but I'd still be running away!!

wishywashy6 · 22/03/2019 15:23

@supercali77 I'd definitely be more specific! We kind of said that to each other after 3 dates but for me it felt too soon to take down profiles at that stage so we kind of plodded along with them still active for a few weeks.
I think 'never assume' can be added to the list of dating rules too. Always better to ask even if you don't particularly like the answer, you'll feel better for knowing!

Notcoolmum · 22/03/2019 15:24

Argh tooold why couldn’t he just say he was busy? Although the ignoring me and not offering me a drink would annoy me sooooo much.

shitwith the carrot reply was amazing!!

The online stuff is horrible :( for me it was wattsapp and I turned off the ‘last seen’ and blue ticks after reading advice on these threads. I knew my last iron wasn’t invested when his distance kept changing. Including when he came up to see me!!

Mr S and I have just moved to texting from WA! It makes him seem like a real person somehow!!

lifegoes · 22/03/2019 15:26

Miracle I've missed your replies 😂😂😉

Crust an ego boost 🤷🏻‍♀️

Still I just cringe when I read his messages.

Crustaceans · 22/03/2019 15:29

@lifegoes I think you're more likely to get the exact opposite of an ego boost from this one.

ItsAMiracle2015 · 22/03/2019 15:30

Exactly as above ^^ won't be an ego boost that you'll get from him!

JeSuisPrest · 22/03/2019 15:31

@lifegoes when i get a "thanks, but no thanks" message after a date or 2 it's usually along the lines of

"I'm sorry, but I'm not 100% feeling it and with some personal stuff I've got going on at the moment, I'm probably not in the best place to be dating. Thanks for the drink, you're a lovely lady and I wish you all the best".

Five minutes later, you'll see them online 🙄

Am waiting to get similar off MrBanker tonight or tomorrow, because he seems too good to be true. I have a back up plan though, just in case. I'm not wasting my first child free night in a fortnight.

ItsAMiracle2015 · 22/03/2019 15:31

If a guy has last seen off on WhatsApp I always think oh lots of girls on the go and don't want them to see when you've last been on 😂. So if you've got it turned off does that mean you also can't see when they've been online? Also why have blue ticks off?

Notcoolmum · 22/03/2019 15:32

lifegoes you mustn’t feel pressured into anything!!

ItsAMiracle2015 · 22/03/2019 15:33

My no thanks message is always I don't think we're compatible or I didn't feel any chemistry, spark etc. I never say it's due to my situation as then I think that's worse when I'm back to swiping 3 minutes later 🙈🙈.

JeSuisPrest · 22/03/2019 15:36

Is it just my phone contacts list that looks like this in the middle?

POF Alex
POF Chris 1
POF Chris 2
POF Dave
POF Mike
POF Tom
POF Simon 1
POF Simon 2
POF Will

Names changed to protect the innocent 😂, unless they've been really rude or plain weird I never delete them so I know who they are if they get back in touch 🙈

lifegoes · 22/03/2019 15:36

Jesuis I'm going to say something like that. He's already planning a "nice night" 😫

Notcool I know and I do feel pressured to go, I've done this as I was trying to distract myself. Massively backfired.

lifegoes · 22/03/2019 15:36

No. My contact list has their first name and OLD site too 😂😂

Crustaceans · 22/03/2019 15:37

MrSG has the last seen off on his WA. But he's generally cautious about online info because it's his job to be paranoid about online stuff. He's even got some secure app for handling text messages. He's not up to anything though.

I think turning the blue ticks off is to stop you wondering why someone hasn't read your message yet (especially if you've seen them online).

Crustaceans · 22/03/2019 15:40

I didn't even add anyone's number to my phone (except MrSG, and he got his full name).

An alarming number of my contacts are called 'Helen Jack's Mum' or 'Sarah Sam's Mum' though.

ItsAMiracle2015 · 22/03/2019 15:49

Didn't even realise it didn't show blue ticks if you open WA but don't actually open the message up. Note to self. Read all messages when opening WA.

Peanuthedz · 22/03/2019 15:53

Ah thanks for the photo tips! I will create a new hidden folder. And a new excuse for checking tinder 😁 No that's a joke. I might send it to the cloud actually without deleting it.

@ItsAMiracle2015 I often don't reply for a while on tinder. Not always in the mood. Or busy. It's the thing that most annoys me about WhatsApp as I feel rude if I don't chat.

I don't trust anyone who has last online off. And blue ticks off. I think they've got something to hide. I'm always in what's app chatting. Usually not to men. I called someone out on it actually and he admitted it was his paranoia rather than hiding something. Sadly that put me off as I thought he was massively insecure.

I also hate hate hate it when you're mid message to someone and your current iron sends a message as they're clearly saying, hello who are you chatting to??? It's like being interrupted. If I see an iron is online I always wait til they've finished to message them.

lifegoes · 22/03/2019 15:54

I don't have my online status for WhatsApp. It's not because I don't want contacted or speaking to lots of people.

I just don't want people knowing when I was last online, as I don't read messages until I've got time to reply. But i might go online to read a message or text In group chats etc.

Crustaceans · 22/03/2019 15:56

I don't have last online on WA either. I did for a bit (can't remember why) but I turned it off. I've got blue ticks on though. I like blue ticks.

Peanuthedz · 22/03/2019 15:57

Oh ffs. I literally just went to tinder to send it away and there's a message from someone who is sooooo suitable who i last messaged well over a week ago. Clearly he's had a couple of unsuccessful dates. What do I do? I really like the look of him. But I'm not going to see someone else. But if mr Unsuitable does disappear... this is what's so shit about OLD the constant temptation.

ItsAMiracle2015 · 22/03/2019 15:59

I actually stop talking to an Iron if they have last seen off on WA 🙈😂. I didn't even know you could turn blue ticks off!

Peanuthedz · 22/03/2019 15:59

I think I'm going to tell him the truth. Ie I've just started seeing someone but I really like the look of him. And I might come back to him in a few weeks. Do you think that's ok?

ItsAMiracle2015 · 22/03/2019 16:01

Have you agreed to anything with MrUnsuitable?

ItsAMiracle2015 · 22/03/2019 16:02

I think that's absolutely fine Peanuthedz
