Just starting a new thread on Juan's orders. She'll be back when she feels up to it.

Thinking of her on Sunday/Monday as always.

Evening all.

Squirrels more a case of what he didn't do😀 he was on pc last night and I told him to get off and go to bed asap when I went up but obviously he didn't. Slept on sofa and gave up on trying to get him to get up and left him when we went out. Still sleeping when we came back at 3!!! He is getting turfed upstairs at sensible time tonight even if he isn't tired and no phone!

I suppose it's just him being a teen. Sometimes I hear myself channelling my parents😶 and I think back on what I was like😀 in the grand scheme of things it's not the worst thing he could do.

Just back from TKD ds2 sweltered and aching😀 teacher makes them work hard I couldn't do half of it
Stopped at shop for choc to keep me sweet. May open some wine as well🤔

Horsemad · 23/07/2017 20:16

bookbook, hmm yes Lincs is a little bit smaller than Yorkshire! DS2 was contemplating going to uni in Leeds for a time, and I was most impressed with Yorkshire from what I saw... Smile

Willow it is so hard when you have a comp mad teen! One of mine was the same - the stress he caused me with his gaming! He was pc mad from a very young age.

YourselfOrSomeoneLikeYou · 23/07/2017 21:16

Yes, just till lunch time tomorrow. It's just stressful bed hopping with smalls - there are currently 5 adults and 2 children who will all fit between 3 bedrooms and the sofa bed Shock

Think bed is the best strategy. I don't drink wine or much else....

bookbook · 23/07/2017 22:15

Evening all
crotchet put down now - hot chocolate about to appear.
Willow - tricky when they stay up later than you do ... hope you manage to get him up the stairs tonight.
Horse - we try not to let people know how wonderful it is, they might want to come and live here :)
Cake good luck! just remind yourself, it's just until tomorrow ...
Sleep tight all

Morning all
grey, windy and threatening to rain here.
So , off for a shower and assess what to do - DIY inside beckons I think, and some baking .
Have a good day all - and thinking of Juan again, as it is Monday, so sending her strength .

YourselfOrSomeoneLikeYou · 24/07/2017 15:59

Hi, quick check in hiding from over tired squabbling kids

We have had a lovely day. Dry and went to a place that did butterflies, mini golf, a maze and located next to the river for £25 Shock lunch for 4 was nearly as much, but delicious and freshly made.

Back at fil's and doing a load of laundry.

Have heard from juan so she is still around but not sure how they are doing. Guess they are plodding along.

Hugs to all, be back later if I don't fall asleep in my tea!

DramaAlpaca · 24/07/2017 16:34

Beautiful day here. Maybe it will make its way across the Irish sea and be with you all tomorrow, and we'll have rain again.

Oh dear Willow, teenage boys can be so trying can't they?

Chasing do what's right for you, nobody will judge. Just take care of yourself & take your time Flowers

DS is improving, but his work aren't being very understanding. They don't seem to get that there is a difference between a sore throat and full blown tonsillitis. I can't & won't do it of course because he's an adult & has to deal with things himself, but it makes me want to come over all Mama Bear and give them what for. I'm very protective of my boys!

Cake glad you are having a nice time, and also pleased that you've heard from Juan. I've been thinking about her today as usual on a Monday. I'm going to drop her an email in the next day or two just to let her know she's in my thoughts.

Willow2017 · 24/07/2017 18:24

Hi all

Miserable start to day but brightened up and sunny so managed to get a line of washing out (such a glamerous life)

Just been doing housework and pottering and filling in more job appications. Why do they ask you what you would do in a situation? If you are the new person you would be told the store's protocols for situations, you cant know whether they want you to act on your own in a tricky situation or ask your manager what to do unless you know whats allowed and whats not! Grrr Angry

Should really have been in garden too tsk tsk.

Chasing I would be the same, I hope his tonsilitis clears soon, and his work wake up to the difference.

Cake sounds like a lovely day, but no wonder your tired.

Thinking of Juan, hope she feels up to coming back soon.

bookbook · 24/07/2017 19:04

Evening all
Glad that you have had a dry , and good day Cake - and good to hear that Juan is keeping in touch , knowing we are sending love .
Drama - I m still a hands on Mum , and my DD's are 29 and 36! You never stop fighting for them , even when they need to fight for themselves :)
Willow job applications are a never ending task it seems - good luck! Getting even an acknowledgement is something these days I hear.
Well, have sort of frittered the day away - like you Willow did some washing - its been grey with a bit of mizzle, but windy enough to dry stuff. Made a big pan of soup and a gooseberry pie , ironed . Helped DH a bit when he needed a hand. Then I sat and did some crotchet - I am assembling a blanket for Woolly Hugs , putting lots of squares together at the moment, so would like to get that finished.

Not quite sure where the day has gone in honesty ! :)
Hope everyone has a nice evening .

YourselfOrSomeoneLikeYou · 24/07/2017 21:21

Hello, tucked up in bed. Made sure I did a bit of self care this evening - even if it was only a shower with exfoliate, shave and moisturise. Also did a bit of mindfulness colouring.

Drama, tonsillitis is the illest I've ever been! Thankfully only had it once.

Book, sounds like you did plenty.

Willow, you're so right, what is the point of such a question when you'd undoubtedly have to follow some procedure.

Juan knows we're thinking of her. Will see if we can meet at some point before the schools go back. I too hope she'll be back soon, but I guess she's doing what she needs to do right now...

Seeing as the beach is on the agenda for tomorrow, I'd better get my beauty sleep Wink

SelenaValentina · 24/07/2017 22:09

Turned out to be a lovely day here - and I was inside most of the time! Did my hospital Navigatoring for the first time for 3 weeks, then went off to the bank.

All of you seem to have much more interesting lives than I do, and you've certainly far more energy. However, I've decided to have the kitchen totally renovated so will have to clear out several tons of junk in a fairly short space of time. Maybe I'm mad, but it feels right, if you know what I mean.

Started looking at Probate etc forms an hour ago (a diversion to stop raiding chocolate stash and/or ice cream) and filled in what I can, ie the really unimportant stuff. Just have to wait now for more info.

Cheers to all, especially Juan.

bookbook · 24/07/2017 23:22

Evening all
Beach and spade Cake - you surely wouldn't need to exfoliate tonight then ? :) Have a good time. I was a dab hand at building speed boats in sand ..., and getting rid of sand between toes ( baby powder ! )
Selena - what is hospital Navigatoring ? I may have missed that upthread? Hardly interesting life here, just bumble along .
Exciting doing the kitchen - I think I noticed on the Lakeland thread about white goods ( I should say I have been pretty happy with JL , but not used them recently enough to comment) . Have you a new plan ? I love thinking through kitchens :) .
Well, bed calls here

Morning all
Just popping head around the door to say hello.
Busy day ahead - off to the allotment shortly while it's dry
Have a good day all - back later x

SelenaValentina · 25/07/2017 09:20

book Hospital Navigatoring used to be known as Meet and Greet. Our local hospital has been extended with a new lofty airport style main entrance, which confuses the locals.

We stand around wearing hideous orange shirts (my school uniform was brown and orange, ghastly) and intercept people before they get to the Receptionist as she is a Trust Receptionist and 'not there to direct people'. Confused! We then try and direct or take them to their goal. It's quite rewarding really but there seem to be more rules than at school. Our 'pay' for this 2 - 3 hour shift is a free drink. But only 1.

A neighbour who has been doing kitchens for years is doing the plan as I type - and it involves knocking through 2 walls so it's going to be ... let's say fun.

Willow2017 · 25/07/2017 09:30

Morning
Been raining through the night again. Everything wet and still overcast.
Gotta drag ds1 off for new shoes and trousers later (warned him last night😀) gawd help me😀
Might make it to the pictures later.
Hope Sun's shining where you all are ( but send it my way please This is a pathetic summer now)

Willow2017 · 25/07/2017 09:38

selena
That sounds crazy! 3 hours forva cuppa they are realy pushing the boat out arent they?
I admit to having my eyes opened with job titles now. I often click on a job ad just to see what the hell it is as the title is gobbledygook. There are no such things as mere shop assistants these days! The names they come up with for a job offering 4 hours work a week is astounding😀

New kitchen sounds fab. Mine is hopeless, too small and badly designed made worse by The builder! I am jealous😀

JaneJeffer · 25/07/2017 12:24

Hi all, very warm and sunny here.

DS2 is helping me do a big declutter this week. The only problem is finding somewhere to put the stuff for the charity shop until we can get to it. I don't know where it all comes from!

DS1 also had a visit to OOH doctor at weekend with a sore, streaming eye. There was a tiny piece of grit in it causing all the trouble. He's fine now and gone off to work.

Selena there's a meet and greet in our local hospital too. They are so eager to help that I don't have the heart to tell them I've been in the hospital so many times that I know exactly where to go Grin

Hope all are well.

bookbook · 25/07/2017 16:42

Afternoon all
Selena - does the shirt shout out 'look at me' ? Grin - but what a nice thing to volunteer for. I hope they provide you with a biscuit too.! Brave woman, knocking down walls , but as long as you have somewhere to cook/wash whilst they are doing it, thats fair enough. When I had my kitchen done, I turned the ( small ) utility room into a tiny makeshift kitchen - kettle/microwave and a single hob. It is next to the (frankly very small ) shower room, so washed up in the basin - it was doable - just. But it will be like turning over a page - it will be totally your kitchen, no compromises .
Jane - I am terrible - I get things out, get them ready for the charity shop, but then justify keeping half of it 'just in case' :) Poor DS - sounds painful and sore - I bet it still feels as if there is something in there to.
Absolutely worn out now . Was at the allotment all morning - proper digging - and weeding. Big bucket of potatoes have come home, along with cabbage, peas, and beans . Came home for lunch, then went back with DH for another couple of hours. Luckily, apart form prepping up cabbage and peas tea is all ready. So I have a cup of coffee and feet up for a bit .
It has turned rather warm now, sun out so do have to think about going and watering in the greenhouse, and the hanging basket.
Hoping everyone is okay - wonder how Somer is doing?

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 25/07/2017 17:33

Hello all

My life definitely not exciting or glamorous! Just bumble along.

I'm so pleased to see you posting Selena I think the kitchen refit will be a stressful experience, but it sounds like something to focus on and will help you move forwards.

Good luck with all the other paperwork and admin.

Hello to all of you. I've got a load of organising to do as we're moving on tomorrow to Tenby for one night, so need to make sure I take everything we may need, but not too much to carry.... Hmm Confused

OP posts:
Chasingsquirrels · 25/07/2017 18:19

Good to hear from you Selena and sounding positive Smile.
You are doing better than me with the probate forms! I've nearly everything pulled together, just need to do his tax return so I know what the liability there is. That's my job for this week while the boys are away but I haven't looked at it yet...

Boys and clothes shopping isn't appealing! Ds1 needs new shoes and I said I could take him (he pulled a face) or we could just order the same in the next size (yes please mum), so they came today.
Ds2 has lots of ds1's handmedowns plus a few bits of his own, but ds1 is lacking atm. Also need to order school uniform but at least I know sizes and that's just doing it online.

Been working this week, doing more hours as the boys are away.

Willow2017 · 25/07/2017 19:28

I survived 😀

Managed to get the shoes (anti e rose think men's shoes are going the same way of women's and getting stupidly narrow/pointed toes?) Also got trousers and went to see the film. Got shopping and had tea in Morrison's. Ds1 loves the hunters chicken and even p.i.a. terms need a treat now and again😀

In stitches on way home when ds2 being daft and then got the wrong word in his senance. Got the giggles for ages😁
Sat with cuppa and biccie and am yawning my head off! Phone driving me mad with autocorrect. Need to claim back my pc from ds2😀😀
Been very mild all day despite overcast but definatelty getting chilly now.

bookbook · 25/07/2017 22:27

Evening all
rather weary here

Thoughts and Prayers x

SelenaValentina · 25/07/2017 22:37

Thank you for the good wishes. I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew in both the probate stuff and kitchen. The former I can hand over if I get too confused with the 'excepted' etc jargon, the latter involves tons of chucking out.

I set off with one unit and only did 3 shelves. Covered in dust Blush and frustrated as nowhere to put what I do want to keep. Grrr. I've ordered some large garden refuse bags with handles plus large tie-on labels and I'm going to fill those, label clearly and then put waterproof tarpaulin under and over it all on the patio!

Best of luck with the moving on, Cake. Tenby's lovely, though long time since I was there.

Was grey and mizzly here until about 6, then bright sun. Forecast for next few days seems unpleasantly wet, just to cheer us up.

bookbook · 26/07/2017 08:58

Morning all
well, I just conked out last night .....
Cake - hope the pack up and move goes easily today. We stayed near Tenby a few years ago - I remember the beach was lovely - hope the weather is kind to you.
Willow and Chasing - I always thought buying clothes for DD's was hard work , as fashion and shapes were such a pain, - I hadn't realised that the lack of interest from DS's could be equally annoying!
Selena chucking out kitchen stuff is dreadful - as in charity stuff, I find that very hard . Good Luck :) - ( I now have a lot of my paraphanelia in plastic lidded boxes in the garage- the cake tins and baking stuff which I may only use once or twice a year . The one thing I must do is mark on the front what is in there, rather than having to look in everyone!) .
Off out today - we decided as the weather forecast is so awful ( basically rain all day) . we are popping up to DD1's to check the house, water hanging baskets and pots whilst she's away. Then a big shop. We do have a Sainsburys and an Aldi where I live, but both are small, so about every 6- 8 weeks, we go to a big supermarket to top up on things we can't really get here. And if I have the time a quick dip into TK Maxx to see if they have any good sheets/duvet covers.
Have a good day everyone

Willow2017 · 26/07/2017 12:26

Book
My kids have no interest in fashion thank goodness but it is also a pain cos ds1 doesn't care and I have to check things actually fit before we buy sometimes!! Only thing they are picky about us they don't like jeans! They live in joggers (and shorts in summer)
At least they don't expect me to spend a fortune on designer clothes😀

Bucketing rain here again i am getting peed off wirh weather now.

Slept late as got sucked into film last night 'shutter island' never seen it all the way through before. Much better than I thought it would be (despite the obvious green screen at times 😀😀) so half one before bed!

cake hope you are having better weather in Wales.
