Just starting a new thread on Juan's orders. She'll be back when she feels up to it.

Thinking of her on Sunday/Monday as always.

I'm just starting the cleaning. Think the packing can wait until the boy is in bed and I can concentrate! DS and DD have taken stuff out, so I just need to check through it and then do mine.

Doesn't matter if we forget anything. More just making sure we cover the basics like wellies and raincoats all the way to swimming stuff and everything in between! I'm really hoping for dry weather! fingers crossed

book my children dislike getting rid of anything!

Hi drama urgh, not reassuring to hear they're old enough to work and drink but still squabble!!!!

drizzly here too willow Hmm

Evening all
well, it rained until 3 o clock ... but I had given the washing a speed rewash and so hung it back out - its dry, as its been sunny since!
Also had a trip to the shops to take some toys and books to the charity shop -( he will never notice what has gone ) , and a trip to the allotment to pick flowers and veg. Some lovely purple french beans for tea.
Just about to settle down for an evening of crotchet - DH has gone out so I can watch rubbish and eat chocolate !
I'm hoping everyone is okay , and has a good evening.
Thinking of you all

Willow2017 · 20/07/2017 21:06

Evening all.

Had a fun day ironing and putting labels on uniform. And fighting with that awful hem tape. Wasted about a foot of it before I got it right 😀 it kept peeling off again.

Rained till late afternoon then sunny but windy then rain again.

Having a chilled pm in front of tv with cuppa and what's left of my choc bar.

Enjoy your hols cake

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 20/07/2017 21:17

Cake - hope you liked the eton mess ( mind you, whats not to like?) Have a good journey , and hope you don't need half the packing ( the wellies/jumpers/waterproof half of course!)
Thinking of you all - in my thoughts Selena Chasing and Juan in particular

Willow2017 · 20/07/2017 23:56

book kids started holidays 29th June 😀 or did you mean something else and I am just dopey?

Warm again tonight make up your mind weather it's flipping July sunny and warm through the day would be nice.

Had rasps tonight unfortunately without the 'mess'. Maybe make some tomorrow😀

Hopefully sunny tomorrow so can go out with kids get ds1 off damm devices🤔 anyone got a crowbar?

bookbook · 21/07/2017 08:17

Morning all
glorious and sunny - off to the allotment to get a bit of work done before tomorrow ( looks like rain again then...)
Willow - it was more - good on you, not leaving it hanging over your head over the school holidays - should have realised though that your school holidays were already here - ours only broke up yesterday :)
Hope everyone else is okay

Chasingsquirrels · 21/07/2017 12:16

Leavers assembly done and dusted.

Spoke to another mum afterwards and cried, seem to be doing quite a lot of that at the moment. Just very very lonely for John.

Have a lovely holiday cake x

When do yours go back to school Willow?

Ds1 finishes at 1.25pm (lunch time) and says he is going back to his girlfriends on her bus and will meet his dad at judo when he picks up ds2.
They are popping back here briefly to pick up some stuff and are then off to Italy for a week.

Willow2017 · 21/07/2017 12:42

Squirrels
Mine go back 15th August. Its creeping up!

Leavers assembly is an emotional time, and yours is made worse this year (hugs)

Well sun came out but its blowing a gale and cloudy now, swithering over putting washing out.

DS2 off to TKD and we are going into town after he gets back for bits and bobs and more food (they are eating me out of house and home!) and a coffee and almond croissant for me Grin might let them have something to eat too Wink

Cake Wales is on our 'to go to' list, (why do I do this to myself its a million miles away from us?) so will need lots of info on your holiday to inspire me for next years hols please Smile Safe journey.

JaneJeffer · 21/07/2017 16:02

Hi all, hope all are well. Very heavy showers here today. Went to DP's today but DM was out. I was relieved really because I'm no good with conflict. My brother is staying for a few days so it will be easier to cope while he's around.

Willow I didn't get that PM. I'm using the app and can't see where they are but I checked on the normal site and there was nothing.

Cake hope you're having a good holiday.

Thinking of Juan.

DramaAlpaca · 21/07/2017 16:14

Lashing rain all day here, cold too, not at all summery. I'm probably a bit further south than you are Jane if you've just got heavy showers.

Chasing for you, because you sound like you need one. You'll miss the boys when they are away Flowers

I've been thinking of Juan too.

We left home at 9:30 and got here just after 5! It's only 2 1/2hrs Grin

Stopped 5 times including lunch and tea. The NT place we stopped at was lovely, so we spent about 3hrs there.

Sorry you're so sad squirrel nothing I can say/do to ease that feeling.

Wow, Willow, that's such an alien holiday pattern to me! Can you fly to Cardiff maybe?

Willow2017 · 21/07/2017 18:46

Cake
Probably could but would be cheaper to drive and stay overnight at a travel lodge to break up the journey. Plus longstay car park, flight and hiring a car would be too much on top of everything else.
'alien holiday pattern' had me laughing but I still dont know what you mean!

Well rain held off so washing dried.
Took forms to school, bag of bottles to recycling centre before town.

Spent an age trying to get trainers with white soles for p.e. nothing in ds's size. Adult ones have white soles but start at size 6 and I cant afford to pay £30+ for trainers for a named brand, and kids thankfully are not bothered with 'brands'. Oh well keep trying I suppose.
Got him a watch as his (very) old one is lost and the strap was knackered anyway. He is so pleased with it, its water proof and has a light, he keeps looking at it Grin

DS1 has hibernated all day, was up late I suspect on phone. His mate is abroad and snapchatting at 1am cos he cant sleep either! Phone disapearing tonight, can I borrow some earplugs?

After trawling round town and then getting shopping we just stopped of at McDs and took it home. Lazy parent!

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 21/07/2017 20:38

Well I grew up where the summer holidays started in first week of December and ran through to January. Then moved here and just about got the idea of the school year running September-July and then yours is different again north of the border!

We had McDs too Blush but at least lunch was all organic home made fresh soup a la NT.

Forecast to rain all day tomorrow, so going to get some shopping in and go to another NT property and beat some culture into the kids Wink Long range forecast dry touch wood

Hope you all have a restful Friday evening. I think I might be off to bed soon! Betting DS is up at dawn!

Willow2017 · 21/07/2017 20:57

Cake thanks for clarifying I thought you meant me talking about next years holiday! Dont worry, sometimes I am a bear with very little brain, all stuff and fluff Grin

Hope DS sleeps long and deep tonight.

bookbook · 21/07/2017 21:11

Evening all
Chasing - it sounds like you could maybe find something that occupies you for the week, especially as you are not feeling in a good place at the moment. ((hugs))
Jane good to hear from you - and hope it stays calm for you.
Cake - that journey sounds remarkably like our holidays - quite a lot of stopping here there and everywhere - its half the fun!. Hope the weather is kind for you, and DS isn't up too early.
Willow - you need white soled trainers? - it sounds like you deserve the MacD Grin for having to trawl around .
Drama - lashing rain? that may be the rain we are due tomorrow. So much for July!
Busy day here - all morning sorting out stuff at the allotment , home to hang washing out. Ironed for far too long after lunch ( including that
dratted duvet cover and tablecloth from the other day )
DH made a lovely risotto for tea though, so was able to get on with some sorting of stuff at home - gardening and some mending .
Had a hot soak in the bath , and will just pick up the crotchet for an hour before bed.
Thoughts and Prayers x

Willow2017 · 21/07/2017 21:51

book
They need to be 'non marking' on the gym floors I can probably get them without them being white will have to look again. Blooming pain they are.
And I thought I had more 2B pencils in the drawer but of course we don't so they are on 'the list' too 😀😀

I am going to manhandle ds1 to sort out his bag tomorrow gawd help me! His bag is like a tip he has no concept of tidy!
Well done on the ironing I hate the idea but am fine when I get going.

We are chilling in front of tv well laughing hysterically at Mrs Brown's Boys.

Have a good night all.

Chasingsquirrels · 21/07/2017 21:54

Mrs Brown's Boys here too.

DS2 brought a poem he'd written home with all his books and stuff.

Life

Life is worth living
Because it will end one day
If you have ambitions
Do them now or never
Because they will end one day

When things are bad, make them good
If you are lonely
Try make some friends
Never give up
Life is worth living

If you are being bullied
Don't run away
Go up to them, show them who is boss
Or make friends
Life is worth living

That's a lovely poem squirrels.

Willow2017 · 21/07/2017 22:18

squirrels that's lovely. Is it a one off or does he like poetry? Ds1 used to like reading it with me but not now.

DramaAlpaca · 21/07/2017 22:35

Chasing, how lovely.

bookbook · 21/07/2017 23:00

oh, just seen this before heading for bed
its lovely Chasing
sleep tight all

Chasingsquirrels · 22/07/2017 07:36

I'd say it was a heartfelt one off.
It was the way he'd written "In memory of ..." that got me.

Had a headache last night so went to bed early after taking some paracetamol. Just been rudely awoken by ds2's radio alarm which he left on. Headache gone though.

Not sure on plans for the day, before my headache started last night I was chatting to someone online and he was googling and suggesting things I could do in Cambridge. I barely know the city other than the main shopping area. I don't know if I have the energy or enthusiasm. But atm I'm just going to see if I can get a bit more sleep.

Horsemad · 22/07/2017 08:11

chasingsquirrels, hope you don't mind me contributing to the thread. That poem is so utterly heartfelt. It conveys everything he is feeling.

I love it.
