Just starting a new thread on Juan's orders. She'll be back when she feels up to it.

Thinking of her on Sunday/Monday as always.

Evening all
Selena a wise decision I think. Get kitchen sorted , and draw breath before any more mess and upset.
*Horse - oh no! I hope you have a good evening , and get some rest before the head home. Its hard work driving that far, though at least the A1 should be a bit quieter tomorrow. Have a safe journey home .
Chasing - another egg! Hope you have a nice day with DS and his birthday tea
Willow - if you go looking for something , it is never possible to find it. Only when you don't need it, or don't have the budget do you see something perfect .Hope the headache has gone.
Cake - so DS had a good clear out - works wonders! Grin - hope it means he sleeps in!
Just watched strictly -I do like a bit of glitter. Off to crotchet now
Have a good evening all

Willow2017 · 24/09/2017 01:01

Headache zapped with ye olde paracetamol and quick nap😀

Been very lazy watched tv and played on my phone game all night.

Cake that explains a lot hopefully sleep well tonight.
Hope you had a better journey home Horse

Off to bed got stuff to take to recycling tomorrow and the dreaded ironing.

Night all.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 24/09/2017 07:38

Morning

Horse what an awful day for you all. Hope that you guys are sorted now and that DS isn't too phased by it all.

We were up at 6 but that was a solid 10 1/2 hrs so I think he did OK.

We've made a batch of short bread and they're watching YouTube vids while I window shop the Debenhams sale Wink

Willow that sounds like the perfect evening. Hope you get the ironing pile done quickly I rarely iron

bookbook · 24/09/2017 08:52

Morning all
Lovely and sunny here, just sitting with a cup of tea. Need to get up dressed, and off to the allotment.
Cake - I love shortbread , but never make it tbh - it would disappear in a flash . DS didn't do too bad then , I suppose you can't complain really ( well, actually , you can !)
Chasing - Happy Birthday to your DS - are you egg hunting today?
Willow - you got your phone game saved at last ?
This afternoon - gardening and pear picking ( yet more!)

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday - we have my DB and partner coming for a meal later , so need to give a quick tidy up and hoover. ( where does it all come from? There is only 2 of us, and I hoovered yesterday, and you wouldn't know!)

Willow2017 · 24/09/2017 09:27

Morning.
Cake I only iron what's absolutely necessary. School uniform and anything really creased. The rest gets folded and left. Never made shortbread keep meaning to as i have a recipe for mint sb. My aunt usually has home made when we visit so get a regular 'fix'😀

Book yes got back on play store but my phone memory is almost full. Am scared to ask how to clear it as I fear it might mean deleting the game 😀 not like pc where you just delete saved games.

Sun shining through the clouds but very windy. Hoping I can get loads of washing done.

Chasingsquirrels · 24/09/2017 10:48

Meant to be meeting friends of John's for lunch (actually saw them on Thursday evening, although didn't know they were coming) but they've had to cancel so no plans atm. I've eaten such the last few days that it's no bad thing not to be going out again! I'm going to try out my new eggs poached on toast for lunch.

Glad your headache got zapped Willow.
I iron most of my stuff and some of the boys, uniform doesn't tend to need it - polo tshirts and sweatshirts. Definitely don't do sheets, towels etc.

We had a few holidays as Bosinver in Cornwall and they do the feeding the hens and collecting eggs too. The boys loved it - now we have hens they are not so keen on day to day mucking out etc. And no longer excited by egg collection Sad.

Just trying to read everyone's posts on my ipad and post on my phone. Ipad seems very glitchy - maybe it's showing it's age. Not sure how long I've had it but maybe getting on for 5 years, might be 4. Might have to treat myself to a new one for Christmas.

Asked ds1 if he wanted to go out for lunch yesterday for his birthday, asked my parents along as well. So that was a nice afternoon.

Then after the boys had gone to their dad's I went for a walk along the local duke with a friend - nearly 2 hours!
Unfortunately then came home and opened a tub of heroes I'd stashed in the cupboard.

My phone memory is pretty full too Willow. Can you add a memory card?

Sounds like a good day book, enjoy your time with your DB & partner.

Cake is ds getting to the age where he can amuse himself for an hour while you get a bit more sleep?

horse hope you have a better journey home.

Horsemad · 24/09/2017 11:36

Thanks chasing Smile we are planning on meeting up with DS soon and then heading home later this afternoon.

Not really looking forward to the drive back but gotta be done!

Chasingsquirrels · 24/09/2017 14:25

MN is not liking posting pictures from my phone ...

DH has died and MN Aunties are keeping things ticking over (Juan)
Willow2017 · 24/09/2017 14:50

Squirrels walk sounds lovely but whats the duke?

Have done 2 lots ironing, sorted washing, 3rd lot of washing in machine and endless dishes. I am gonna give kids paper plates from now on keep finding them all over the place when I find none in the cupboard.😀

Don't think will be TKDing tonight ds2 full of cold, coughing like a good un' and all hot and cold bless him. So no more sloes today.
Gonna put gammon roast on for tea. Have to shower and dress as need to go up the shop. Pj day today😀

Chasingsquirrels · 24/09/2017 14:55

Oops that's an autocorrect error!
Should have been dyke - local landmark. I live on the edge on the fens so it is very flat, the dyke runs across the landscape and we walked along it.

I've been with you with the washing today, have a third load but it's not that full so I'll put it in this evening.

SelenaValentina · 24/09/2017 20:01

Really had head in cupboards and drawers today! I've sorted the cutlery, cooking utensils (top pan drawer each) and crockery (2nd pan drawer). All 6 drawers are now filling up and the cats already know their stuff is in the right hand bottom drawer - the male sits and stares, then paws it at feeding time, doesn't take them long, does it?

Also packed case for luggage pick up on Tuesday - go a week on Monday. No aerosols or perfume seems a bit odd, so hope none have strayed in. Blush

Now tired, so feet up and drinking hot chocolate. And, such bliss, don't have to get up at (what feels like) crack of dawn for workmen tomorrow. However, tiler arrives on Tuesday at 8 - or so he says.

Hope Horse is safely home - I was on A1 last Sunday and Sat Nav lady diverted me off to miss some snarl up on M62 - and that everyone's had a goodish day for a Sunday. Juan, thinking of you.

Horsemad · 24/09/2017 21:06

Got home about 30mins ago Selena Smile

Had a good journey back, traffic was moving well.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 24/09/2017 21:22

Hi, just a quick check in. DS is not happy to be on his own bless him, but I left the both of them watching telly this morning and back to bed for a cuddle with DH Wink

squirrel I wanted to buy some tubs on offer at tesco, but knew they wouldn't survive to Christmas! Hope you enjoyed your quieter day.

horse glad you're home and DS settled. Do you know what's wrong with car?

book everyone here loves SB too and willow I don't like making it, but trying to home bake for lunch boxes but no nuts, no Choc and not too fancy/fussy.

selena enjoy the lie in on my behalf!

Night all x

bookbook · 24/09/2017 21:28

Evening all
Just having a break from some complicated fair isle knitting , brain needs a break ( and a bit of chocolate! )
Glad to hear you are safely home, Horse and it wasn't too bad a journey . I bet your head is buzzing though if its like mine when I have done a lot of driving.
Chasing - I love poached eggs, they look yum . I'm with you - I iron most stuff too.
Willow - they do catch everything at the beginning of term it seems. Hope you enjoyed you enforced evening in , after all the housework. When you do start at the volunteer job?
Selena - I love my pan drawers- I have three, and now wish I had more. It makes life so easy not having to lift down plates etc. I can see the reasoning behind aerosols, but perfume? Thats odd. It does make you wonder what they don't tell us .... One of the best holidays we had was when we went to Montreux , flying with Swiss Air. They picked up the luggage at the airport when you arrived , and you next saw it in your hotel room . And coming home they picked it up from the hotel room, and it arrived on the luggage carousel first, all wrapped with luminescent ribbon . A very non stressful way to travel! :)
Cake - hope you have had a non tiring day , and you get a good nights sleep .
Had a lovely afternoon - finished picking pears , thank goodness. Did a fair bit of extra veg for our meal, so can do bubble and squeak tomorrow , I do love a virtually no cook meal !

Horsemad · 24/09/2017 21:43

Something to do with the head gasket I think Cake? DH will speak to the garage tomorrow.

Head buzzing is the correct way to describe it book. I am tired though, so will go to bed soon.

That Swiss Air luggage collection sounds like it was handled with typical Swiss finesse! Wink A few airlines could do with taking note!!

Willow2017 · 24/09/2017 22:54

Book I start Tuesday, so nervous, looking forward to it but dont want to screw it up!

Typing this on ds1's raspberry pie keyboard as apparently pc went nuts last night and keyboard stuck! Its very small! Will have to get used to it and test mine tomorrow.

That is some service for your luggage, what I wouldnt have given for that at 1am in Edinburgh this year trying to find the damm luggage!

And stop talking about pan drawers I am green with envy! My kitchen is the size of a postage stamp and the worst designed ever. I need to check the lottery ticket on the notice board Smile

Horse glad the journey home was better. Head gasket, thats not good!

Been sitting watching 'The Hobbit' again, nowt on tv so flicking through channels and found it. I am sad geek but I love those films to bits. And the music and songs are breathtaking. Need to watch ds2's new extended versions Grin

Will have to bake tomorrow and probably go get some shopping as running out of fruit (again) and veg for packed lunches. But have other jobs I want to do to, shouldnt have had such a lazy day Grin

Raining now so doesnt bode well for tomorrow.

DS2 still coughing (its always worse at night isnt it?) tried him with some cough mix but it was too strong for him!

Horsemad · 24/09/2017 23:02

Yeah, the car is old with high mileage but always serviced at the dealership, so is well maintained. No idea how much it will cost but I have told DH he is NOT having a new engine in it as the bodywork is starting to go and it won't be worth it. Plan was for this one to last a year longer then have a nice shiny new one for Himself!
That may have to be revised now... Wink

Re your DS's cough - have you tried Vicks on his feet? Probably an Old Wives' Tale, but I AM an old wife!!!

bookbook · 24/09/2017 23:08

I thought you were off to bed soon Horse Grin
car sounds like a problem - it always happens at the wrong time , doesn't it.
Willow - you won't screw it up , you are a manager! ( of a family, but still a manager) . Our very old family cough remedy. Sounds gross, but works --
a teaspoon of sugar with two drops of vinegar soaked in it.
Right, thats me off to bed
Sleep tight all
Thoughts and Prayers - Juan in particular

Willow2017 · 24/09/2017 23:55

Horse you read my mind! I was thinking of that earlier and wondering if it actually worked. Will go and try it, cant hurt Smile

Book I dont know if he would even get that close to his mouth tbh. He is very sensitive to tastes and smells, bloody nightmare. But I can but try...

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 25/09/2017 07:18

Morning all

Hope you all got a good rest. Wet and dark here!

More or less ready for the day. Taking it one step at a time. Get everyone ready for school is step 1 Grin

horse I think that's like us - was hoping to keep my car going a bit longer but then the decision was taken out of my hands...

Chasingsquirrels · 25/09/2017 07:29

Nights are drawing in aren't they, and the mornings too. Ds2 up and getting ready for school, Ds1 hasn't surfaced yet and I'm just about to - Ds2 came in for a cuddle and fell asleep on me for 15 minutes Smile.

Willow2017 · 25/09/2017 08:29

Morning all.
Overcast and rainy here too.
Am worst mum as making ds2 go to school. Coughing still but as with all cokds am hoping it will get better once up and around. They are always worse in mornings. Had Calpol and has a note for p.e. to be excused this morning. Off with sad little face to make me feel bad. (And I do)

Chasingsquirrels · 25/09/2017 08:32

Mine always go in with colds Willow, although when Ds1 gets something it's usually quite intense and he can't stand up. Ds2 just has half a paracetamol and soldiers on.
Hope your Ds2 perks up soon.

Willow2017 · 25/09/2017 08:35

I just know I will get a phone call later to say he is coughing his lungs up and it will have developed into a chest infection 😀 it happens like that just to prove a point "see I WAS ill"😀😀

bookbook · 25/09/2017 08:41

Morning all
so dreary dark and damp this morning - dank in fact!
Have towels to hang out, and another load in the washer . Bets on whether they dry before we need to leave early afternoon.?
Willow - I think they cough more when laid down - I bet he won't cough much once he is at school. It does make you feel bad, I know - horrible parents we are. But it works in later life - the get on with it is a good lesson I think.
Chasing - oh, lovely cuddles a rare treat when they grow up .
Cake step 1 in our house was a nightmare - I am the only early bird , DH and both DD's are owls ....it was a constant battle , so good luck!
Lots to do this morning as out straight after lunch - we are having a stop at Tool Station and B & Q for essential supplies ( cue traipsing up and down aisles with DH muttering to himself .....) before picking up DGS .
Have a good day everyone
