Just starting a new thread on Juan's orders. She'll be back when she feels up to it.

Thinking of her on Sunday/Monday as always.

Rubbish weather in Lincs Sad

Off today so busy doing boring stuff like eye tests and food shopping!

bookbook · 26/07/2017 18:52

Evening all
well, it was a long day - I am really not a fan of shopping. It is boring, isn't it Horse - Didn't even get to look at sheets and duvet covers. It wasn't too bad rain wise until we got home- luckily managed to get inside with the shopping before an absolute deluge .
Just need to do a few bits before settling down for the evening now
Hope everyone is okay and have a good evening

Horsemad · 27/07/2017 06:29

Ugh, I was ill last night, think it was dehydration and tiredness. After a full day out shopping etc I realised I'd only had one drink all day (at 07.30)!!

I felt so unwell, horrible pounding headache. Took paracetamol and managed a sleep and felt a bit better. Then went to bed at 10.30 and slept right through, so must have needed it!

Note to self: drink more water!

Chasingsquirrels · 27/07/2017 07:50

Hope you are feeling better this morning horsemad.

I've been working more this week, didn't get home till nearly 7 yesterday which is the first time I've worked that late in ages.
Just lying in bed for a while before I get up and start the day.

bookbook · 27/07/2017 08:03

Morning all
Horse - I think a lot of people don't realise how important it is to have enough to drink, hope you get over it quickly. I bully ( gently)! both my DD's to drink more. DD1 now has a drink bottle which she tries to drink sips out of during the day , and knows its needs to be empty. Its much better and easier than gulping a big glass full all in one go.
Chasing - gosh you must be tired, stepping up the hours like that. Hope you are coping while your DS are away.
Well, its looking a bit iffy on the weather here - just put in a load of washing ( am I hopeful or what ) and have a load of bed linen to do as well.
So, just a bumble along housework day - picking some veg and making some courgette cakes for the freezer.
Hope everyone is okay - have a good day all

Willow2017 · 27/07/2017 09:22

Morning all.
It's actually sunny this morning!!!
Racking my brains for somewhere to go with kids. Ds1 moaning as he wants to play online with mate. Huh told him we are taking advantage of the sun😀

Hope you feel better today horsemad
squirrels don't go overdoing it while kids are away.

bookbook · 27/07/2017 09:32

Skatepark anywhere near you Willow ? Or are they too old for that ?
I've just hung out first load of washing, its starting to look a bit grey here , so off to dig more potatoes up - I do live the high life here :)

Willow2017 · 27/07/2017 11:02

Nothing like that nearby but they aren't into skateboarding

Most things involve a drive as we are rural. Thinking maybe zoo or safari park ( but maybe a bit late for SP) or museum?
Help😀

bookbook · 27/07/2017 12:04

Just back from digging, looking like a scarecrow :) but, its still dry so have hung out the bed linen

I was thinking inliners I suppose Willow ....
Is it worth looking on the local council website? Ours has a 'what to do with kids in the holiday' bit with links to places. We are quite near the coast, so there is a RNLI and a RSPB wetlands place ( hahah!) thats free with stuff for children .mmmm - will get my thinking cap on .

Willow2017 · 27/07/2017 12:29

Well that all went pear shaped!

Ds1 in right mood as wanted to spend day on bloody Xbox with friend. So got aggro off him wouldn't move faster than a snail. Then I lost car keys!!! By time I had found them it's really too late to go now as will take too long to get there. Just sat in bathroom and had an indulgent blub😐

Clouding over here and wind getting up so options are getting smaller😀 might have known nothing ever goes to plan in this house😀

Trouble with living here everything is a good drive away except beach but too cold for that now.

Sorry my misteaks about park. Ds2 has skates but not ds1. Ds1 has no patience he thinks he should be good at something straight away or he is stupid. Years of telling him otherwise makes no difference. Ds2 can go on skates but can be a bit like Bambi. It's hilarious going out a walk when he wears them 😀

JaneJeffer · 27/07/2017 12:51

Willow sometimes it's easier to just let them on the Xbox for your own peace! We also live in the middle of nowhere and I get all the "but there's nothing to do" when I try to get them off the devices! The rain doesn't help matters. They usually get fed up eventually and take themselves outside with a football or bicycle.

Had horrible IBS pains last night, had to get the hot water bottle out. Feel a bit better today. Need to get on with my big clear out.

Willow2017 · 27/07/2017 13:40

jane
Yes I know what you mean😀 but as the sun was actually shining I thought we could all go out (and despite his moans he actually does enjoy days out with us he is a different boy when out and about😀) and he has spent days on one device or another due to monsoons we have had😀

Will wait till weekend and pry him off again 😀

Hope you continue to feel better today. Good luck with declutter it's very satisfying once it's done but half way through you start to ask yourself whose stupid idea this was 😁

Willow2017 · 27/07/2017 18:00

This thread has fallen off my 'watch' list yet again! What the heck?
Anyone else had this trouble?

bookbook · 27/07/2017 19:04

Evening all
Willow - no trouble like that here, but am on a laptop, not a phone. Hope you managed to cope with your DS's after that , and had a reasonable afternoon. I do not skate , and I think it was me being less than clear!
Jane - poor you with the IBS, hope it has settled down now for you. Agree with Willow , there is always a time when you wish you hadn't started .
It rained on my washing - I did get the first lot dried, and ironed, but the bed stuff got a rainwater rinse :)
But, I have baked a chocolate courgette brownie cake, and two courgette lemon drizzle cakes this afternoon , for the freezer. I have almost caught up with the courgettes I have picked , as we had courgettes in a stir fry for tea too Grin.
Hope everyone is okay

YourselfOrSomeoneLikeYou · 27/07/2017 20:00

Hello all, I survived a day and a half with no wi fi, and though we didn't have wall to wall sun, we made the most of it and some good memories.

Hope you're all ok. Willow I don't use a phone for MN either, so don't have tech issues. Hope the boys didn't drive you too potty and that you've got some consolation wine and or Choc.

Jane, hope you have a better night tonight and Horsemad, I get like that if I don't drink enough.

Book, hope you've dried off now and tucked up with crochet and a hot chocolate.

Squirrel, when are the boys back? DD off again on Sunday...

I'm going to go have a shower and eat M&Ms in bed after. Night all x

SelenaValentina · 27/07/2017 22:01

I think, maybe, I've just about cracked the Probate and IHT forms! Fingers crossed.

Envious of you all with good weather when you started this morning. It was bucketing down here, then calmed so I did my usual walk in the dry, coffee with/without friends, walk home - I got absolutely drenched!

Then cleared out this afternoon. Grrrrr.

Interesting re dehydration, isn't it? If you're thirsty then you are already dehydrated, sort of thing. DH and DS both sorted out their quite frequent migraines by drinking much more water.

Sleep well everyone.

Willow2017 · 27/07/2017 22:19

Haven't done much today at all. Weather changeable. Lovely and sunny later blue skies fluffy clouds and then the heavens opened😀

Made burgers for tea and we are just veging out pm.

Got job centre tomorrow so not going far. Need to make kids hair appoint ds1 has fringe like a highland coo 😀😀😀

bookbook · 27/07/2017 22:35

Evening all
Just about to make a hot chocolate and head for bed.
Cake - sounds good , making lovely memories on holiday - but no wifi sounds tough!
Selena - wow, you are going great on that paperwork . Same here with hydration - DH had trouble with migraines, and saw a consultant who strongly advised at least 1.5-2 L of water a day, on top of tea/coffee - I don't manage that - but I try to get 1L down during the day, bit by bit.
Willow - they are lovely, those highland cattle :) same here weather wise- real on/off/sun/drenching rain .
Hope everyone has a good nights sleep
Thoughts and Prayers x

Chasingsquirrels · 28/07/2017 00:42

Wtg you Selena, I wish I'd got more done before I lost momentum.
So much for getting his tax return done this week while the boys are away.

I've been to the pub with a few school mum's this evening which was nice, but the coming home to an empty house is hard.

Boys back on Sunday morning.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 28/07/2017 08:25

Hugs Squirrel I hope that you will find a bit of energy for the paperwork. I hate doing my tax return!

Forecast rain here all day, so a quietish one. Let DH sleep in to just now though the children and i have been awake a while 6am

book it was fine Wink we were out all day anyway, had amazing pizza for tea, settled down in bed and went to sleep relatively early! Yesterday we were out again and we saw dolphins! Was so lovely to see and totally unexpected.

Good Morning All!

Beautiful day here, shame I'm in work! Still, it's Friday, so the weekend, yeeaay Smile

book, courgette cakes sound good, which recipe do you use?

Selena, well done with your paperwork, I can imagine it is a nuisance to do but good on you Smile

Chasing I am much better, thank you. I bet you are looking forward to seeing your boys - complete with all their washing?!

Cake, dolphins, wow Smile I remember going to Lundy a few years ago and they swam alongside our boat; so gorgeous to see.

Willow, Highland cattle, it's my dream to buy a couple and just let them live in the field. My DH adores them and I keep thinking one year I'll do it... Grin

Right, back to work I go Wink Have a good day everyone. X

bookbook · 28/07/2017 09:35

Morning all
sat in my dressing gown, cup of tea in hand. Just need to get going and have a shower , gussy up a bit Grin - We are going out for the day with a nice lunch , some browsing/ shopping ( birthday treat )
Bit grey here mind, but I don't think it will rain at least .
Chasing ((hugs)) for you. It can be so hard to motivate yourself, especially regards paperwork , and you are still in a trough of sadness . But as Horse says- having the boys back will help, I hope Flowers
Cake - just heard that not having tablets/smartphones is very good for sleep and happiness, so maybe its a way to go :) Dolphins too - they are truly amazing creatures, lucky you .Embrace the rain- Go for a splosh !
Horse - the cake recipes. I have just started doing the lemon drizzle one - recommended to me by a fellow allotmenter , and she photocopied it for me, but I have managed to find it online.
HERE
I have done it twice now - once in a round 8" tin, this time in 2 x 1lb loaf tins ( much better size for us - leave one out, freeze one . I have decided it really doesn't need the nuts .
the chocolate brownies I have been doing for years - its a tray bake, so I cut into squares to freeze.
Chocolate Courgette Cake
120 gm softened butter
125 ml sunflower oil
100 gm caster sugar
200 gm soft brown sugar
3 large eggs, beaten
130 ml milk
350 gm plain flour
2 tsps baking powder
4 tbsps cocoa
450 gm courgettes, peeled and grated finely
1 tsp vanilla essence
Line a 20 x 35 cm baking tray. Heat oven to 190/ fan 170
Mix the butter, oil and both sugars together until light and fluffy. Gradually add the eggs, one at a time and then the milk until mixed thoroughly.
Sift the dry ingredients together and fold into the mixture. Stir in the grated courgettes and vanilla essence.
Spoon into tin. bake for 35-45 minutes
Cut into squares while still warm .

Right, onwards and upwards
Have a good day everyone

Willow2017 · 28/07/2017 11:10

Morning all
Horse I will send you my ds1 Grin just got his bloody phone bill for when we were on hoiliday!!!! Nuff said. He is still asleep so have slapped the bill on his chest, taken his phone and left as I might have done him a damage Grin He is absolutely hopeless when it comes to money, he forgets that it all adds up and it doesnt compute that I will find out!

Warm and sunny here but clouds gathering, I bet it starts raining just in time for the washing machine to finish.

Dont know what to do today, depends on the weather. Got a Cafe Nero card using my bank points so might run away and treat myself Smile
(I dont have my tax returns to do at all, honestly, really, honestly....ermmm)

*Cake ooh dolphins lovely. We had one on our coast for a few years dont thinks its there now but we do have seals in the harbour you can feed (for a small price) they are the biggest seals ever, wonder why!

Hope the suns shines for you all.

SelenaValentina · 28/07/2017 12:24

Willow - may or may not be helpful. Try saying to yourself without any pressure, 'By the end of ... weekend? next Friday? (be specific) - the tax return will be done no matter what.'

It's Neuro Linguistic Programming theory in a sort of way. Regardless, it seriously works for just about anything, for me anyway.

squirrels, yes, from following you, Juan and others I understand the momentum can suddenly disappear. Forewarned is fore-armed, hence trying to get things done especially before the dark nights.

It's a lovely breezy day here too. Going to plonk myself in the garden for the Vit D, then totter off for tortoise food, pay papers, coffee - all that boring stuff that has to be done (and if I go too early the coffee shop will be crammed with people having lunch!).

Enjoy your day, everyone. Smile

Willow2017 · 28/07/2017 15:03

I am cross between feeling sick and ready to commit murder. Its not just the phone bill, been checking his phone and my bank account....he had my old debit card number! His savings are going to go down a lot today! We have been here before, just why? It just doesnt seem to sink in.

Pity the bank never noticed all the gaming purchases like they did the fraud!
