How old were you when you had a child?

I'm worrying about this. At work, anyone who reaches 30 seems panicked if they're not on their way to having a baby.

I'm nearly 30 and still single so nowhere near having children!

Met DP when I was 30 and he was 34. Had DS1 when I was 34 and now 39+5 with DS2, aged 39. Most of my friends were similar ages when they had their first too.

People saying "you have loads of time" - with respect you don't know that.

In your position I would get a fertility MOT done to know where you stand.

Some people will remain fertile up to 40 and possibly beyond... Others will find their fertility drops massively in their early 30s. It all just depends! Not to be a downer but just realistic.

As for me, TTC the first at 30. Been told by Doctor I can't afford to wait.

25 when I had twin boys, 27 when I had DS3 and 40 when I had DS4 - My hubby thought DS4 was a magnificent achievement lol (he was 43 when baby was born) I just walked around with a shocked expression on my face!!

MumOnACornishFarm · 02/06/2016 23:25

33 with DS1 and now 17 weeks pregnant with DC2 at 34. There will be 16 months between them, and my age played a part in the decision to have our second so close to our first.

Abominablebride · 02/06/2016 23:30

Unplanned, found out a few weeks after turning 44. Very healthy baby, easy pregnancy. Sadly had secondary infertility so no more.

  1. Multiple miscarriages over the years. Hoping to try next year when I'll be 39. Giving it one last go. Another miscarriage would be the end of trying.
