How old were you when you had a child?

I'm worrying about this. At work, anyone who reaches 30 seems panicked if they're not on their way to having a baby.

I'm nearly 30 and still single so nowhere near having children!

I had my daughter at 42. Was excited but a bit worried because of my age. Went to have my pregnancy test confirmed at the local clinic, when it came back as definitely positive I burst into tears (blame the hormones!). The nurse asked me why so I said cos I'm so old!She said nonsense, how old are you? When I said 42 she looked horrified! Haha! Thanks for that!
Don't think there is any right age or wrong age, thb.

35 and 37. I have PCOS and didn't ever expect to conceive so count my blessings a lot. Bloody knackering though!

notgivingin789 · 03/06/2016 22:09

15

Kenworthington · 03/06/2016 22:09

23, 27 and 29. Was terribly broody a couple of years ago but now I'm 40 and kids are getting older and more independent and I'm glad I didn't have dc4!

RavioliOnToast · 03/06/2016 22:29

Fell pregnant at 18, had DD1 at 19.

Fell pregnant at 21, had DD2 at 22.

FunnysInLaJardin · 03/06/2016 22:33

34 and 39, so old but not really old!

PeppermintPasty · 03/06/2016 22:34

37 and 41 for me. Old!

My mate had her third at 44 last year.

SaltMarshPirate · 03/06/2016 22:38

33 and 36.
Am 39 now and don't know if I'm done.

Lolimax · 03/06/2016 22:41

I just had to work it out! 26 having DD, 13 months later just turned 28 I had DS. Yes such a short gap is hard work but they're 18 and 19 now and at 46 I'm relishing my freedom.
Each to their own, and life panned out that way for me. Never in a million trillion years could I imagine having a baby now, too selfish and too knackered but I have upmost respect for those who do.

gandalf456 · 03/06/2016 22:47

33 and 38

LadyMacnet · 03/06/2016 22:49

29 DC1 and then nearly 39 for DC2. DC2 was an amazing, happy, fantastic surprise after years of ttc.

pintsizeprincess · 03/06/2016 22:55

37 and 40

wonkylegs · 03/06/2016 22:55

I was 29 with my first and have just had my second at 37. A large chunk of my uni friends are having their firsts right now (36-40)

TanquerayNumberTen · 03/06/2016 22:57

Not me, but my sister was 35, 37 and 42!

Cineraria · 03/06/2016 22:58

Forty.

I met DH when I was 36 and we married a week before my 39th birthday. I had an unsuccessful pregnancy more or less straight away but was told by the doctors that the problem was unrelated to my age. After that it took a while for my body to get back to normal and so it took eight months to conceive DS and he was born last September. We would love a second baby and I do feel the pressure of time, especially as I don't want to stop breast feeding before DS is ready. Ideally, I'd have liked to wait until he starts school before having another child like my mum did but I know that's not sensible given my age.

SlipperyJack · 03/06/2016 23:02

36 and almost 39. I'm in awe of anyone who does it later - I'm now 42 and utterly exhausted!

poisonedbypen · 03/06/2016 23:04

33, 36 & 38. All my friends had children at very similar ages or older.

sn0wdr0p4 · 03/06/2016 23:08

24, 26 and 42! My daughter has just had her first at 32.

alltouchedout · 03/06/2016 23:11

24, 27, 33. The last one kicked my arse buy I don't know whether being in my thirties is what did it, or just that life with two children, a full time job and not being remotely prepared for a pregnancy wore me out.

dulcefarniente · 04/06/2016 10:54

Marmalade unplanned = being lax with contraception because you read all the stuff that says you're more likely to land on the moon than get pregnant past 40 (or similar statistic) and believe it. My GP said this accounts for a lot of over 40 year olds getting pregnant.

NotSpartacus · 04/06/2016 10:59

A few weeks shy of 31 with DC1. 34 when I had DC3 (was aiming for a less than 2 year gap but had 3 losses in between). Have been trying for DC3 for 6 years now.

NotSpartacus · 04/06/2016 11:00

*DC2 (didn't leap from 1 to 3)

EllenDegenerate · 04/06/2016 11:00

22, 26, 29,30 and with this one I'll be 33.

And getting my tubes tied.
