He picks my clothes . .

. .or at least tries to. Would you find this controlling? I quite liked it at first, as it felt like he was really paying attention to what suits me etc, but it has started to annoy me, and has almost caused arguments.

I told him I was looking online for new clothes and he made sure he saw them before I ordered. When I said that I was sending something back because I had seen a nicer one in the shops, he said 'can I see it first'?

Just trying to get an idea if this is controlling, or if you would find it a bit annoying/odd?

Just seen the Mumsnet HQ notice. Not sure what's going on but I won't be posting here anymore!

Goingtobeawesome · 11/05/2016 06:57

Instead of deleting it would make more sense to lock so people can read but not post, especially when there are still people posting as if this is genuine.

zoemaguire · 11/05/2016 07:51

I'm usually quite good at spotting trolls, but didn't see this one coming AT ALL! I know HQ don't want to give too much away, but if there is anybody still collating pm requests can they add me to the list please?

PuellaEstCornelia · 11/05/2016 08:10

Me too! Totally sucked in!!!

RomComPhooey · 11/05/2016 08:10

Perhaps MN should have a proven troll thread folder so that newbies could sharpen up their trolldar by reading a few examples.

nudeynuderson · 11/05/2016 09:37

Urgh me too, I came back to see if the op was ok. Can I have a Pm if there's still one floating about pls.

Gruffalosgrandma · 11/05/2016 09:43

I would like the PM too please if possible. Completely baffled by this one.

AmberGreyson · 11/05/2016 10:33

i think it's strange, he can give you advice what he likes, but it's a total control

Baconyum · 11/05/2016 10:57

Excellent idea

ABCAlwaysBeCunting · 11/05/2016 11:43

Why is this still available after being outed as suspect? Is this some new MN policy?

LisaRinnasLips · 11/05/2016 11:51

I'm so nosy in how MNHQ know someone's talking shite. Have they registered with an email [email protected]? Grin

Sangelina · 11/05/2016 12:53

I'm baffled too; could I please have a PM? I feel like I need to learn how to spot them. x

LoveFromUs · 11/05/2016 14:41

I just don't understand why people keep making up threads on here, I ask myself what exactly do they get out of it. I'd also like someone to PM me with the signs that someone is a troll!

Gingermum · 11/05/2016 15:33

Please may I have a PM too? I thought I could spot a troll but obviously not.

So many useful responses though. As I read this thread, I started thinking about the Archers storyline (Rob an Helen) and how millions of people finally understand the insidious tentacles of emotional abuse, disguised as 'caring'.

Iamdobby63 · 11/05/2016 16:17

I don't think we are going to receive a PM as there are just too many requests.

I feel very sickened by this thread as the content brought back so many memories and I'm just glad I had refrained from speaking in more depth of my personal experience.

I too think this thread should disappear as it was started by someone who is themselves controlling and manipulative and who obviously takes pleasure in being the puppet master. Although there is some useful advice leaving it here is only giving the OP more of the attention he/she deserves.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 11/05/2016 16:58

Would I think someone trying to dictate to me what I shouldn't wear was controlling.
Yes, ever so slightly.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 11/05/2016 17:05

Oh so Op was chatting shit. It makes me so bloody mad when there are people out there living these lives for real. It may be a a joke to you op, but trust me. No one is laughing

AndTheBandPlayedOn · 11/05/2016 21:00

I doubt the OP is still reading, but who knows. Anyway, the reason I thought it might not be on the level was because the OP kept answering each and every post throughout the day when the OP had said he/she had a job. Just a little niggling feeling on that.

PrincessBooBoo · 11/05/2016 22:30

Lived together for 6 months, been together for a year

It can only get worse

Vickster99 · 12/05/2016 13:50

Could I have a pm as well please. read through the posts and not spotting it. I run a support group for people who have experienced EA &DV elsewhere on the internet so it would be very handy to know what the signs are. thanks

Looly71 · 12/05/2016 15:00

Any chance of a PM please?

MassiveStrumpet · 12/05/2016 17:06

Lots of people skive on the Internet when they're at work. I do.

FetchezLaVache · 12/05/2016 17:59

Could somebody please forward the PM to me too?
