Has your partner seen your vagina?

I know this is a weird one but I can only ever bring myself to have sex in pitch black or still wearing bottoms (i.e skirt). This has been the same with every partner. I am not comfortable naked and have always avoided oral sex for the same reason. Is there a deep-rooted psychological issue here or is this common? Am not particularly happy with my body/weight but have only recently gained weight yet this has always been an issue.

Sparklingbrook · 06/08/2015 18:02

Primetime Saturday night mrsdb. or maybe 'Fanny Factor' with a Simon Cowell judging?

IHeartKingThistle · 06/08/2015 18:06

YY primal. I am so over being told what to call my bits. I bloody know what each area is technically called thanks. Argh.

Sallyingforth · 06/08/2015 18:23

I was slightly shocked to see the thread title, and saddened that a couple can miss the wonderful intimacy of fully sharing their bodies.

But if that's what you want and your partner is content, then

JohnFarleysRuskin · 06/08/2015 18:49

He was rummaging around in there only this morning. Grin I'm all about the vagina.

I think it's interesting that many women think their genitalia are ugly. It's a feminist issue - and I would recommend reading around the subject: historically there are many cultures that are troubled by the sight of a fanny. The fact we can't even find a word for it is all part of the problem.

Is this how you want your dd to be op? Ashamed of a body part? I'm sure not- she deserves much more than that - and so do you...Flowers

This is turning into one for the Sex Topic....

NoArmaniNoPunani · 06/08/2015 19:11

I can't imagine being in a relationship with someone who doesn't see me naked/give and receive oral. Confidence is the key. My fanny not perfect but it's still bloody great

Pixi2 · 06/08/2015 19:12

OP- get a sculpture/ ornament/ picture that personally speaks to you and represents what you want to be sexually and place it in the hallway. You'll see it everyday and it will remind you of your goal. I had this tip when I wasn't comfortable with my body. My object was a small stone naked fairy (because the fairies in literature on a whole are impulsive and follow their hearts desires rather than think with their heads).

Oral sex is one of the most amazing pleasures. Please don't miss out.

JohnFarleysRuskin · 06/08/2015 19:14

'Turning into'?!

fourtothedozen · 06/08/2015 19:38

pixi2- I find Georgia O'keefe's paintings very sensual, highly representational of the female vulva, but abstract enough not to offend the in-laws.

Yes every day!

We both walk around in the nude and pop in and out while we're showering.

I had a pretty horrid birth with DD and he's a nurse so he looked at my stitches every few days after. That's being close!

LongDistanceLove · 06/08/2015 19:58

Yes lots of times, I couldn't imagine not being able to let everything hang lose.

We live on different continents at the moment, the last time he had a proper gander was to have a rummage to see if I had been bitten by a mozzie on my flaps. And they say romance is dead.

ForalltheSaints · 06/08/2015 20:19

I feel sad for those women who feel uncomfortable being naked in the bedroom at least.

Notasinglefuckwasgiven · 06/08/2015 20:30

My DP ( as I've said before ) waxes mine Blush he's seen it hairy and then pulled and hauled at it while waxing it. We also have a speculum for when we're " in a certain mood " so he's seen inside it. It's a lovely body part. Have a gander with a hand mirror. You'll surprise yourself. wishing I'd name changed for this

BolshierAyraStark · 06/08/2015 20:30

Lots, he can hardly avoid it when giving oral can he?
I don't think what you describe is normal, doesn't mean it isn't common though... In your position I'd maybe consider seeking help.

KungFuhrer · 06/08/2015 20:36

What do you use a speculum for during sex? Is it something worth googling? Confused

Theoldcauliflower · 06/08/2015 20:40

I'm Catholic and he's seen it loads Wink

Notasinglefuckwasgiven · 06/08/2015 20:41

Oh god. I like certain fetishist pastimes. Got DP involved. Google it if you want it's not hideous it's just very intimate. If you want to try it, word of advice. Don't film UP the speculum. Seeing your own coil messes your head in so many ways BlushBlushBlush

Keepithidden · 06/08/2015 20:42

I admitted my mistake already Cauliflower!Wink

Sparklingbrook · 06/08/2015 20:42

I think I will pass on the googling. Grin

Maybe this should be put in the Sex Topic?

itsbetterthanabox · 06/08/2015 20:44

Yep he sees it all the time. Not just during sex and he looks a lot then!
Just being nude around each other when in the house he sees it. I can't imagine being embarrassed lol!

LetsTessalate · 06/08/2015 20:48

I must admit my mind is boggling slightly at the notion of a speculum .... Just how??! ShockGrin

Sparklingbrook · 06/08/2015 20:50

It sounds like a v grown up Doctors and Nurses Lets, but speculum=smear to me.

Liara · 06/08/2015 20:54

Yes, lots.

And after I had ds2, he, my sister and the mw had a good examine to see whether there was a tear (there was a tiny one not requiring stitches, that the all evaluated and commented on).

Dh says seeing me give birth (very much at the business end) was the most beautiful thing he ever saw (soppy smiley).
