Blunt question: were you sexually active at 14?

As you know I'm not a pervy hairy-handed trucker.

Hopefully you will feel able to answer.

If you were sexually active at 14, can you say anything about why?

Yes. Out of my group of about 14 friends there was only me and one other girl who hadn't had sex and I felt constantly left out of all the gossip etc, so when the opportunity presented itself I DTD. I don't really regret it per say, but I would always encourage young people to wait to lose it with someone who has mutual respect and care for them, regardless of age.

3Cats Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but my mother thought I lost my virginity with my first 'proper' boyfriend at 16/17 so I wouldn't count your blessings just yet!

Why do you ask?

JohnFarleysRuskin · 11/10/2014 21:49

French kissing and groping only here.

Eastpoint · 11/10/2014 21:49

No

starlightloz · 11/10/2014 21:50

Yes, at 13, as were the vast majority of my friends. Flippant answer as to why? Why not? I liked that the boys liked me, I enjoyed the attention, felt like everything was always on my terms, we drank a lot of Maddog 2020 on a Friday night and it was an excuse to get out of PE (TMI!). Deeper answer? Textbook divorced family background with a deeply routed fear of rejection so I was aloof and crudely, humped and dumped 'm. My friends and I slept with a lot of boys before we were 16, I don't regret it but if I had a daughter they would be on a very tight rein.I then entirely flipped things from about 18 onwards and every time I had a long term boyfriend wouldn't sleep with them. Told my husband on our first date that I with have sex with him before marriage which sounded hugely hypocritical as I had a DS.Worked though.

GiniCooper · 11/10/2014 21:50

No.

starlightloz · 11/10/2014 21:51

*wouldn't

minkymuskyslyoldstoaty · 11/10/2014 21:51

yes, hands only contact. boyfriend.

WhiffOfBath · 11/10/2014 21:51

No. I fancied boys (well, men) from a very, very long distance. I would have run a gazillion miles if one had spoken to me, though.

I went to a girls' school and never even spoke to a boy until I went to university (met first boyfriend in my second year).

NapoleonsNose · 11/10/2014 21:52

No - wasn't remotely interested in boys at that age. Didn't actually lose my virginity until I was 16 and that was a pretty forgettable experience. Wasn't properly sexually active until I was 18. Had too many sexual partners for 2 years until I met DH at 20 - still together, and married now, 22 years later. Fortunately I think DD (17) is a late starter too.

Mintyy · 11/10/2014 21:53

InAndOfMyself - I ask because I have a dd who will soon turn 14.

OP posts:
Pontouf · 11/10/2014 21:54

Nope. I had my first kids at 14 with my then boyfriend (who turned out to be gay and now lives with his long term boyfriend.) I didn't do anything other than kissing and a bit of over the clothes boob action till I was 18 and met my now husband. Did lots and lots and lots of snogging in that time though!

Pontouf · 11/10/2014 21:54

First KISS not kids!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 11/10/2014 21:54

No

Stealthpolarbear · 11/10/2014 21:55

Assume that meant kiss!

dementedma · 11/10/2014 21:55

Thanks for the clarification pontouf I was Shock

ThisBitchIsResting · 11/10/2014 21:56

Yes, I was in lurve.

It was fine, no issues really but the relationship was far too heavy for teenage years really, too distracting from school I think.

MrsRonBurgundy · 11/10/2014 21:57

Not full sex but started doing other stuff about 14, more towards 15. First and second base for sure, maybe a dabble at third Blush
I wasn't unusual at all, my friends were all about the same.

dancestomyowntune · 11/10/2014 21:57

I have an 11 year old Dd (almost 12), and the idea that in Hyatt over two years she'll be the age I was when I started having sex is a scary one. Right now she is so not interested that I don't think I have a huge amount to worry about, but it is in the back of My mind.

wellnowthenmardybum · 11/10/2014 21:58

No.....hadn't even been kissed. Though tbh is any boy was interested and asked me I probably would have.

Mama1980 · 11/10/2014 22:00

Yes, boy from my maths class at school. We wanted to, all very mutual, sweet in a weird kind of way. No regrets all very safe.
Actually still friends with him, though we were only 'together' for about 6 months. He's a nice guy happily married for years.it all feels a hundred years ago.

I suppose the background is that my parents were undergoing a hideous divorce (DV Adultery etc) at the time so I had more freedom than I probably should have had. And his parents didn't really seem to ever care, unfortunately they pretty much don't still.
Don't think it did me any harm though.

NO!

First snog at 16, included some very "heavy petting". I'd been saving all my love, as the song goes...

I'm always curious how many MNers lost their virginity, quite happily, well under the age of consent. Yet, on many threads people insist you absolutely cannot give consent under the age of 16 and if sex happens the protagonist has definitely been raped.

GiantGraspingCeramicFist · 11/10/2014 22:01

No, but then I experienced a massive life changing trauma aged 14 (not sex related) so really wasn't in that zone.

Snogging and groping at 15, lost virginity at 16, still didn't have much sex at all until I met my very nice first boyfriend at 17.

Trills · 11/10/2014 22:01

No.

"Stuff" around 15.

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 11/10/2014 22:03

No. Wasn't interested. Biggest regret was losing it to the wrong person when it finally happened.
