MrsMarigold · 10/09/2014 21:55

Exploitation puts me off

Pepperwitheverything · 10/09/2014 21:56

Yes, I can't understand how women can watch other women being abused for entertainment. I wonder if it is to join in with their partner so that they feel included in this part if his life...or maybe they just don't care.

AnyFucker · 10/09/2014 21:58

I really, really hope there is a wholesale backlash against porn and the sexual exploitation of young men and women in my lifetime.

Sadly, I am not seeing it any time soon.

Botanicbaby · 10/09/2014 21:59

or maybe they just don't realise that there is so much abuse going on in the porn industry?

not making excuses but I didn't really know as much till I read about it on here, shockingly ignorant as that may sound.

Botanicbaby · 10/09/2014 21:59

that was in reply to pepper btw.

AnyFucker · 10/09/2014 22:01

I have certainly learned a lot from MN and specifically the FWR board in this subect

Fairenuff · 10/09/2014 22:02

I think it's getting worse, not better. The sex industry is becoming more mainstream all round, more 'acceptable'. I am educating my own children but that's just a drop in the ocean Sad

AnyFucker · 10/09/2014 22:02

I know Sad

MrsMarigold · 10/09/2014 22:04

I have a female friend who is sort of involved in the industry and works with a very very famous photographer. I get impression at that level it's a choice - they work on private stuff for A-list celebs and models - it's not really that graphic but my friend comes from a rather odd background and is very exhibitionist.

Pepperwitheverything · 10/09/2014 22:06

Yep Botanic that is true....like AF I learned a lot from FWR and before I was ignorant as you say. I never watched it and had in my mind that it was all kind of mainstream where people were in control of what they did and how much they consented to. Wow were my eyes opened when I started reading about the reality!!

I too would love to see a massive backlash but too many people put their own gratification first, before anyone or anything.

StrumpersPlunkett · 10/09/2014 22:09

fascinated to know how men in the past coped without the ability to use porn to get their release.

Squidstirfry · 10/09/2014 22:10

I feel quite strongly about the damage it is doing to younger adolescent boys now that access to porn is so widespread and prevalent.
Being able to flick through thousands of pics of women being brutalized, and how categorized it all is, the options and categories are truly staggering.

Squidstirfry · 10/09/2014 22:12
  • pics and vids.
Fairenuff · 10/09/2014 22:12

Obviously it wasn't possible for men to masturbate before the internet was invented Strumpers, they need it you see Hmm

zippey · 10/09/2014 22:18

I think it's wrong to label porn as one entity. There are different types. You might as well say I like or don't like music. Depends on the music, or the type of porn in this instance. Some of it's ok and some of it isn't. Even then, it's about what an individual prefers.

I think most men will watch or have watched porn. I sometimes work offshore and porn is freely shared about on hard disks or put on public pcs. Like alcohol, mostly not a problem but can become problematic in a minority of cases. Its also an issue when couples disagree on its use.

As for its ethics, I am as concerned about porn ethics as I am about the ethics of cheap labour used to make cheap clothes, or the ethics on intensive animal husbandry - I am concerned a little but not enough to really care too much. I will buy free range eggs but will buy smart price chicken for example.

I would say that your feelings are your own, so if watching porn upsets you, that's just how you feel and there's nothing wrong feeling that way. I dare say most men would feel the same, upset, if their partners started watching and masterbatin secretly to porn.

placidjoy123 · 10/09/2014 22:19

If its consenting adults then I don't see any harm and it can be fun.

AnyFucker · 10/09/2014 22:20

how do you know they are "consenting adults" ?

Sickoffrozen · 10/09/2014 22:21

Pre internet it was magazines and VHS! I remember finding a magazine of my dads! That was in the 70's! I watched a porn VHS in the 80's when at 6th form at a boys house and it left me feeling nothing to be honest. Porn doesn't turn me on much. Literature more so!

I think nowadays, youngsters are almost making their own porn with the use of mobiles etc.

The recent spare of leaked pictures and sex tapes of really famous actresses shows once again that men will happily photograph/video their partner and many women will go along with it despite the risks of exposure it comes with.

MysteryMan1 · 10/09/2014 22:25

Zippey, a lot of sense said IMO. I have watched porn and many if not all my friends have as well. There are different types as said and whilst there is no doubt exploitation in the industry, I would be surprised if everyone involved was being exploited against their will.

Reasons for using porn are many and yes, many guys with families will still watch it, such is its availability, particularly on the net. I do however worry about kids watching more extreme porn and expecting their future girlfriends/wives to do what they see on screen.

placidjoy123 · 10/09/2014 22:25

Well some of the most popular is amateur couples. Where they obviously look to be over 21 and most actually look to be at least 30's or older. And if they look like to be having fun.. Nothing wrong with that.

xena26 · 10/09/2014 22:27

I agree with zippey

how do you know they are "consenting adults" ? You know if you watch videos from well known companies like Brazzers and Dane Jones.

AnyFucker · 10/09/2014 22:27

MM1, if you have such reservations, how do you square in your mind your use of porn ?

By thinking you can tell what is "good" porn and what is not ?. That you are some sort of benevolent family man who does no harm ? That your orgasm trumps everything ?

Think again

AnyFucker · 10/09/2014 22:29

Brazzers ? This is an ethical company ? Your naivety doesn't become you.

PJ, have you never heard of "revenge porn" ?

Deary me. Same old tired "arguments", I can barely be arsed.

AnyFucker · 10/09/2014 22:29

I'll leave the apologists to it. Far too depressing for a midweek slump day.

Voodoobooboo · 10/09/2014 22:33

I utterly hate it. Porn is an industry with high levels of addiction, psychological issues, physical injury and even suicide. It is a horrible awful mess and you have no idea if you are watching that rare and fabled beast, the happy porn star, or an unhappy, abused, fucked up single mum who is just trying to pay her rent and keep her kids fed. I wish it didn't exist and I can't for one second imagine getting my jollies from it.
I also worry massively about teen access to it. My only son is nearly 13 and I worry about what he will see and how in hell I protect him.
