In short: was married to a man for years despite knowing I was gay from young age. Marriage ended amicably several years ago, but there's been too much going on in recent years for me to consider dating. Have NCed as I've posted so much on here that would identify me!

I have never dated. My relationships have evolved from close friendships.

A woman I've met a couple of times (and really like) has asked if I'd like to discuss a shared interest (let's say "upholstery" for the sake of anonymity) over wine. I've said yes. I know she's gay. She knows I'm gay. We've fixed a date. But is it a date, or is it just talking and drinking?

If I wanted to talk about 'upholstery' with someone and didn't want it to be misconstrued, I'd always say coffee, not wine.

Really, really hoping it's a date...

Any advice on how to read the signs, o wise and lovely MNers?

You do realise that at some point we will be offering gardening tips?

Because at some point the upholsterer will pop round to yours to admire your prized budlia bush and you will wish you had trimmed your herbaceous border!!

"don't know if I'm elated or gassy, but I'm somewhere in that zooone...."

Crafters. I'm about to launch into a very busy time at work and have decided, reluctantly, that I need to step away from MN threads for a while and do some bloody work. It's not so much this thread - which has been so life enhancing for me - as getting sucked into the vortex of Active Convos and not being able to yank myself away. I have no will power.

I'm sure I'll come back at some point. I always do. I didn't want to disappear without saying thank you and goodbye for now. Thanks Thanks Thanks

Here's hoping that there is news to report about TU, and if not with her, with another lovely woman.

Thanks a million for sharing my excitement. May your habers never be undashed.

Thanks

A wonderful, wonderful thread!

Just wanted to come back and cheer for all the women on MN and beyond who are stuck and struggling with their sexuality and not sure how they will ever move forward, and to wave at all the lovely people on this loveliest of threads who cheered me on.

Being closeted drove me to the brink.

Now, I'm thriving. I am slowly getting to know an amazing woman and enjoying the will-we-won't-we and savouring the delicious edge of possibility. I'm not rushing this and life's been too manic for us to spend much time together, but Wine WAS a Sign. Things are looking good. Grin

I think I can say with confidence that it is, my dears, very nearly tea time.

Thanks! Flowers

Feeling groovy ('hello-lamppost', not Austin Powers) even if things don't work out with the Upholsterer because I am FREE, I am OUT (except to the people I'm not out to, but we won't mention that) and I am HAPPY!
