Some enjoy anal, some don't. Yes, there may be mess, but generally, the rectum isn't actually full of poo (except right before you have a bowel movement).

If you want to try anal, you want lots and lots of lube, and you want to be very relaxed. You should try playing with fingers etc before trying anything more (ahem) substantial.

I don't know why "ask him if he'd let you do it to him" is meant to be a joke, either - there are plenty of (straight) boys who enjoy that sort of thing out there.

As a safety note, you can't take anything that's been in the anal region and put it in your vulva or vagina, as you increase your risk of yeast infections or UTIs. Please wash everything thoroughly when moving from anal play to vaginal play. (Vaginal to anal without washing is fine.)
