Hello

I'm Mouse.

Welcome to the Brave Babes Bus - Gerald! Blame Silver for the name! Grin

We are a group of MNers who post about our relationship with alcohol and how drinking it, or not, has an effect on our day to day lives.

Come and meet the other Brave Babes, say hi, take a seat or just read.

Thanks All.

I was in such dreadful place a few hours ago. Now I am just in an airport - no demons. I am like all the others, waiting to hear news of our flights.

venusandchristmars · 19/12/2010 23:21

Bb I think I am going home.

I'll be aroudn tomorow xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

BBwannaB · 19/12/2010 23:28

website says BOARDING YAY!!!
safe trip, see you tomorrow x

GoodChristianaRejoice · 19/12/2010 23:48

Just saw this Venus, so sorry you've had such a hideous day. Poor you. Hope you're flying now x

notevenachristmousie · 20/12/2010 06:03

Morning BBs
venus you are just amazing. I hope you are home, sober and sleeping restfully in your bed. Your struggles just show how strong you are. I am as ever so in awe of you.

What a fab community we have here. I am really blessed to know you all.

Another very disturbed night with poorly DD - luckily have found a babysitter who will look after her at home and so I will get to work. Feel really disappointed in myself but I will be glad for a little break from her. Think there might be a lot of caffeine consumed this morning.

notevenachristmousie · 20/12/2010 06:53

I don't know where "fab" came from - not sure that is my usual vocabulary.

Anyway, all that aside, hope all the BBs have a good day, am Envy of those off for the holidays - but at least I only have a 4 day week. Stay safe. Today I will not be drinking.

Whitenapteen · 20/12/2010 07:12

Venus Hope that you are safe at home now. Lovely to read that you did reach a calm place and that there were BBs around too. I agree with noteven - a fab community of support.

Morning noteven sorry DD is still unwell.

Morning everyone else - hope that you are all in a good frame of mind this morning whatever the day may hold. Today, for me, I will not be drinking ODAAT.

sleighrideinthursnow · 20/12/2010 07:28

Morning everyone,

Venus I Hope you are sleeping in your own bed now.
BBWanna Thank you for staying up with Venus

Dh very poorly last night, coughing really badly, and delirious, very unlike him. I saw every half hour change. I think he's caught it from DS2, who is also still coughing.

DS2 got home from uni, after a two hour delay, and an hours drive to pick them up from the middle of nowhere train station, because they couldn't get any further!

Still we did manage to have a familyish dinner, albeit with DH retching in the living room!

DH still got up at 6.30 to go to London today though, very important meeting evidently, I think he is a real fool complete trouper.

I can't tell you how much I give thanks that I wake up(?) without a hangover. How did I ever do it otherwise?

Speak later, off to get tea, not going swimming this morning, I think I might fall asleep, and go under Grin

sleighrideinthursnow · 20/12/2010 07:30

That's DC1 back from uni, bleugh, brain like cotton wool!

desiretochange · 20/12/2010 07:43

Morning everyone, looks like it was a busy night on here last night. What a lovely bunch of people ye all are supporting Venus last night, not only with suggestions on how to keep calm etc but also with practical help.

venusandchristmars · 20/12/2010 08:24

Hi everyone,

And a big thanks again for last night. I got back at 2am, and my lovely dh battled snowy (ungritted) roads to come and collect me from the airport. He had the car laden up with spades, blankets, a sleeping bag and emergency food including a thermos of peppermint tea.

Off to read the weekend's posts on this thread, then I'll be back on later.

Hope all those with poorly dcs and family manage to get through the day OK.

desiretochange · 20/12/2010 08:28

Good to see you got home safely Venus:)

Whitenapteen · 20/12/2010 08:30

Venus good to hear from you. Glad you got home - bet you were glad to see DH and that he had come prepared.

desiretochange · 20/12/2010 08:40

How are things with you White, haven't "seen" you for a while?

sleighrideinthursnow · 20/12/2010 08:49

So glad you are home Venus, did you manage to get any sleep?

How are you Desire and White? Are you working or at home?

I am finished for the hols now, but still have lots of work to do for a qualification I'm taking next year. Getting motivated isn't going to be easy this week!

desiretochange · 20/12/2010 08:51

Hi Thurso am at home, on Christmas break, but need to get my ass in gear, house like a bomb has hit it and still have loads to get for Christmas.

sleighrideinthursnow · 20/12/2010 09:07

I'm just trying to finish off my online shop. Latest I could get it delivered is tomorrow, so the garage will be acting as extra freezer space Grin

I hadn't ordered any drink, but DC1 is a great red wine afficienado, so have put a couple of bottles on the shop, also a bottle of Baileys, which I love, and never have in the house except at Christmas.

sleighrideinthursnow · 20/12/2010 09:09

Spelt it wrong, but you know what I mean!

jesusthisstableiscrowded · 20/12/2010 09:15

morning everyone! - just read last nights posts and have had a bloody good cry! - venus you are a fantastic brilliant wonderful woman and so are all the other babes! - thank god you were all here!, i dont think anyone without 'our little problem' Xmas Wink could have understood exactly how venus was feeling!! - i am so proud and pleased to have you all as friends and like venus, i have a feeling that people reading from 'afar' will also have been helped last night! (im also saving the expression 'stop crying you big wet nellie' Xmas Grin, i cant wait to use it!! Xmas Grin)

Whitenapteen · 20/12/2010 09:36

Morning all. Have been following as not much opportunity to post 'live' due to work/DC/DH and Christmas things to do.

Am not drinking and very content and still dealing with all the usual stresses of a busy life without needing to pick up. Looked through some photos of the last few years yesterday evening and can tell when I was 'on the sauce'! Not a pretty picture. Skin and eyes are definitely better. Life definitely better.

Have big family Christmas - we all get on so no stress but have yet to tell that I am not drinking (actually not told them why I am not drinking - still feel very ashamed about it) so still pondering on how to tackle this. Not sure I can do the 'big announcement' and can't fall back on ill/antibiotics as house will be full of medics! Will be taking plenty of Elderflower Fizz with me so perhaps I' ll just go with 'gone off the wine for now'. Not projecting about wanting to drink just planning for how to respond to polite enquiries.

desiretochange · 20/12/2010 09:43

White gone off wine sounds like a good enough excuse but will that work if there are other drinks there?

Whitenapteen · 20/12/2010 09:48

desire There will be beer - but have never drunk that, G&T but optional so happy to say no, biggest challenge will be champagne toast on Christmas Day - may be 'take a glass for appearance sake and lose it in the general chaos' - have already done this in the very early non-drinking days and didn't find it too difficult.

Hi Wasindie Venus posted a little while ago to say she had gotten home at 2 this morning.

desiretochange · 20/12/2010 09:52

Sounds like a good plan White, everyone will be too busy toasting to notice if you are not drinking.
