The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Carry On Past The Christmas Party (part 2)

1000 replies

TheMousefaceBeforeChristMouse · 15/12/2010 13:51

Hello

I'm Mouse.

Welcome to the Brave Babes Bus - Gerald! Blame Silver for the name! Grin

We are a group of MNers who post about our relationship with alcohol and how drinking it, or not, has an effect on our day to day lives.

Come and meet the other Brave Babes, say hi, take a seat or just read.

Here are the threads so far

Hi, I'm venus, and I'm a problem drinker / alcoholic (call it what you like). I've not had a drink for a while. It feels good, but it's not been easy.

(Oh and just in case anyone didn't know - I'm the wise one on here - ha! bloody ha! Grin)

I'm zany and I'm the one hangiing onto the bus as it drives away as I know I should just stay on it and not keep jumping off each evening.

notevenachristmousie · 15/12/2010 19:46

Hi everyone, I'm notevenamousie and I'm an alcoholic.

I struggle a lot, and I appreciate this thread a lot, and my life is much better sober, but I still am battling an addiction whilst being a totally single parent.

Silverbaubleonatree · 15/12/2010 20:46

I'm Silver and just want chat to the other BB's.

Three meetings in three days and my head is f**ked. I never realised how emotionally draining AA would be. Even though for the most part I have just listened I am thinking, not just about my drinking, but about every part of my life.

This is going to be a rollercoaster of a ride (and I feking hate rollercoasters). I know that my feelings and emotions are going to be stripped bare during this monumental changing point in my life.

I am terrified, excited, sad, confused, elated, fearful but most of all full of hope.

At the moment that is what AA has given me in this short space of time - Hope.

Such a simple but crucial word - HOPE xx

Tell you what - party games are not much fun when you are sober! However this is the only negative I have come across so far Xmas Grin

Zanyisntsantacanny · 15/12/2010 21:46

brilliant start Silver although it will be emotionally draining at first I would imagine.

I poured myself a glass of wine but then had one sip and thought of how I was letting myself down by having no willpower. So I threw it away

BBwannaB · 15/12/2010 21:48

Actually I didn't like them much when I was a drunk either. Why do people think they are an ice breaker when most normal folks cringe inside and just try to put on brave face?

Or is that just me?

3 cheers to you Silver I'm well impressed with your resolve.

BBwannaB · 15/12/2010 21:50

Yay! go Zany Do you think we could patent a sink unblocker caled Mr Merlot or something?

Or the coast guard will have to invent a new flag system for the beaches - beware alcoholic bathing waters - the babes are chucking all their wine down the sink again!

TheMousefaceBeforeChristMouse · 15/12/2010 21:57

Go Zany!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't that feel great? That's how I felt the first time I poured a drink away.

The first time that someone on here said to me, 'Mouse, FFS pour your drink away' and I thought 'What? Are you mad? Pour a drink away?'

When the advice was get rid, go to bed, go clean teeth twice, stop drinking Mouse.....

The same words that I type now, are the very words that saved my life, my marriage and my self worth from being crushed.

Until you are ready, truly ready to change your life, those few words, are just words on a screen.

hi!, just popping in to say goodnight!!

silver - i know it all feels so raw and scary, i have found that it subsides after a while - i now find some meetings just sort keep me grounded while others are frighteningly relevant and i keep re-running them in my head for days - either way, it works for me!

well done zany!, i found it went against the grain to throw drink away, now i simply find it easier not to pour it out in the first place! Xmas Grin

anyway, night night lovley babes!

see you all in the morning!!

L XXXXXXXXX

Silverbaubleonatree · 15/12/2010 22:11

You lot are fantastic - I'm off to bed - hopefully for some sleep but if not - hey - got a meeting to go to tomorrow night so I'll be fine.

Sweet dreams you lovely lot.

Gerald is ready for the off at 10.00am - designated driver tomorrow - sort it out amongst yourselves - BUT if you scrape him or GOD FORBID crash him - I will NOT be a happy lady - enjoy lovelies.

sleighrideinthursnow · 15/12/2010 22:20
