Hello

I'm Mouse.

Welcome to the Brave Babes Bus - Gerald! Blame Silver for the name! Grin

We are a group of MNers who post about our relationship with alcohol and how drinking it, or not, has an effect on our day to day lives.

Come and meet the other Brave Babes, say hi, take a seat or just read.

Here are the threads so far

nomore - we shall sing together my love - I have always had a soft spot for Silent Night despite the warbling of the long notes - shall we?

BBwannaB · 17/12/2010 22:48

Still here Silver I have had a quiet evening, first one at home this week, so good to have a quiet time. supposed to be busy at the weekend, but keeping an eye on the weather.
Another social event tomoorrow night, but I will be driving so won't bother to explaion the whole new no drinking stuff..
Nomore it sounds like you have had a good evening how long have you been off the booze for? Sorry I lose track as I only get to see the thread in the evenings usually)

Nomore - what I don't understand is that if you only drink a few times a year - why is it a problem - God if I could just drink that way I wouldn't be in the least worried - am I missing something - I'm not trying to diminish what you are trying to achieve - I just don't understand ?

BB - feking lightweight {fgrin] - sweet dreams x

Silverbaubleonatree · 17/12/2010 23:16

and you know what - and here's a biggie for you all - I drank and smoked all through my pregancy - not a lot - the odd a couple of glasses of wine a day and I cut down to two a few cigarettes a day - bloody terrible I know but - my daughter is never ill, she has the constitution of an ox, like me, she seems to have suffered not one jot from it. Of course I am deeply ashamed about it BUT I think the media has a lot to answer for in terrifying expenctant mothers to sit still and not have a life while pregnant.................

Silverbaubleonatree · 17/12/2010 23:20

I meant we both have strong immune systems - as in both like oxes............

thinks maybe it's bed time........

just not used to being sober at this time of night and it is so exhilirating

you still there not x

sleighrideinthursnow · 17/12/2010 23:22

(whispers, in case people are sleeping)hello Babes.

I'm just back from a lovely dinner, one lime and soda, and two coffee's. I'm ashamed to admit it, but it is the first time for years that I have gone out for a Christmas "do" without drinking more than I wanted to before I went out IYKWIM Confused. Yaay to me (sorry for blowing own trumpet, it helps me to write it down, helps me to carry on, carrying on, if that makes sense)

Sweet dreams all, and wishing you sleep Silver.
I hope Nemo is having a peaceful night Mouse
Nighty night xx

Hey Thurso - well done Babe x

Noteven - No I still don't understand - if a couple of times a year you get trashed -it's not the end of the world - we all do it/have done it - if you said you were sinking a bottle of vodka a day - then yes that's a problem - but the ocassional flip out - we all have that - sorry Babe I'm not trying to be difficult but I just don't get it - Confused x

TheMousefaceBeforeChristMouse · 17/12/2010 23:44

I'm back.

Been kicked out of the bedroom with hicups.

On the sofa with a large glass of red. My only one mind. To wash the drugs down. Sleepers.

Night all xxxx

Hi all! Still up, catching up with work I couldn't get done this week because of DS being ill. He went back to school this morning but then I got a call saying 'come and get him' because of the snow ... so my last 'school' day went tits up.

Now I'm up and my brain is buzzing. Have done the work, thank God, but want to watch telly and go to bed late. I don't think I'll ever stop feeling like that, I still do it even without the booze.

Nomore, I can see why you're worried. It's not how often, is it? It's how it makes you feel. If you don't like that feeling, then doing something about it is the most important thing.

Silver, really glad to hear your meetings are going well. I don't know when I'm going to get to any over the next couple of weeks. Wish I'd got into this before children - if I was single I'd go to a meeting on Christmas Day, I bet they're brilliant.

TheMousefaceBeforeChristMouse · 17/12/2010 23:54

I'm here but flagging Silver - sup??

Hey CJ - I'm not single and have a child but I'm planning on going to a meeting on Christmas day night - I am very lucky in that my DP and family are being so supportive so that I can go to a meeting every day - I am also very much a virgin in the AA thing - but it hit me like a freight train when the realisation hit home - I'm in the honeymoon period with AA and am very aware that it may well come crashing down at some point - but at the moment I can see a way forward for me - and for that I am very grateful x
