Hello.

I'm Mouse and I've been on the bus for 2 months now and not fallen off it as yet. It's much more comfortable than The Wagon! Grin

Anyway, this is thread number nine!

Everyone is welcome to join at any point of the journey, drinking or not, wanting to stop or just to cut down.

Jump on board, you won't be judged, just supported whatever you decide. Smile

jwn, bloody well done Grin. You must be feeling really good.

To those of you who find that your hardest struggle is in the evenings - can I humbly suggest that you try, just try, going to an AA meeting? They are usually between 8 and 9.30 (some earlier) and would take you right through that danger zone. As well as giving you a different perspective on the booze ... Have a cup of tea or coffee, and a biscuit, and talk to some other alcoholics. A bit like this thread, but face to face!

Whatever you decide, good luck to all.

pavalova · 30/09/2010 21:19

Well done Pickle, another day done.

I am not a 'never again' thinker either - way to final. I am wondering if the longer abstinence goes on, the more the idea of not drinking grows on you. For now you are giving your liver a well earned break and proving to yourself that you can function without the habit. I bet 5 days ago you wondered if you could do 3 nights in a row.

hippychicky · 30/09/2010 21:33

Another evening done for me too - by this time of night I am so pleased that I didn't drink - 3 hours ago I was thinking what's all the fuss about?
Knowing I won't be waking up dehydrated at 1am is a lovely thought.

pavalova · 30/09/2010 21:37

Good for you hippy. I think it was MsMgee who coined the 'why the fuckity not' phrase (which I love) and that one usually pops up here around 8.30. I am usually relieved to see 9.30 onwards.

lucilastic · 30/09/2010 21:43

Well done JWN. Fantastic achievement.
I am not drinking but am feeling irritable about the fact.
I would love a drink (or ten)and am angry about the fact I don't have one.
I totally identify with Pickle's post too (welcome) and good for you for getting through another day.
Am tired and stressed and rather than a little bit fed up with my life.
Goodnight babes.
My bed is calling. I am finding that I can't bear being awake for too many hours a day now I'm sober.
That's sad in itself.
Today I didn't drink and I hope tomorrow will be the same.

Lucil, it sounds like a crap night but you haven't had a drink. I think it is a great achievement and I hope that you feel some reward for it when you wake up tomorrow. Maybe your body actually needs more sleep for a while? I don't mean to sound patronizing. Night

pavalova · 30/09/2010 22:11

I am also heading to bed. Take care all of you babes. Night night x

gettingeasier · 30/09/2010 22:20

JWN thats absolutely brilliant !

Lucil well done you even if you havent enjoyed it Smile

Just checking in really, dangerous moments early evening feeling a bit lonely and stressing about ill feeling between xh and I over divorce stuff. Thought fleetingly of ready chilled wine at shop but didnt because I am starting to genuinely feel it wont help matters so I avoided it. A couple of weeks ago it would have been more about not spoiling my plan to not drink or something like that iyswim ?

I am pleased to say I have not had a drink

gettingeasier · 01/10/2010 06:59

Morning everyone.

Just wanted to check in I woke at 5am , I think I am on pins because in the next day or two I will know whether xh and I are going to settle amicably or its going to the solicitors and a battle.

I really wanted a bottle glass of wine last night and am so pleased with myself this morning that I resisted. Peered into recycling box at 6am and its pristine not even any tins or jam jars Grin

So my plan is to go 6 days without a drink ie just drink on a Saturday night. This has been my plan since I started this a month ago and I never quite make it, last friday was only 2 small glasses of wine but nevertehless i didnt make it.

so today I will not be drinking and tomorrow I will have gone the longest and be able to enjoy my drink. And I might add all week there has been wine on the rack.

Hope everyone has a good day back later

Wasindie - how old are your DTs now? I hope that you're feeling a bit better and manage to get a few more hours tonight. Sleep deprivation is tough.

Good morning to all the other babes.

Lucil I'm sorry that you had a tough night, hopefully you will feel some reward this morning for not drinking. I know that I'm always so pleased when I wake up after not drinking.

Day 2 for me and today I will NOT be drinking (even though I've got a friend coming round this evening to watch Strictly Grin). She's not a big drinker at all so should be ok.

Hi SAF well done on day 6, that's fab. You must be feeling the benefits? I really want to get to a week too.

hippychicky · 01/10/2010 08:40

It seems to be a theme - I am heading for the week target as well - though not sure if last Saturday really counts aas i was hung over.
But today I will not drink.

Hiya SAF

Yes I posted on this thread about a month ago I think (have followed it from the start though). I've always been a big drinker but then got pregnant.

During my pregnancy I very easily stopped drinking and also while I was BF.

However, my DD is now 12wks old and I've found that I'm slipping back into old and bad habits. Not drinking every day but when I do easily polishing off 1+ bottles of wine.

I don't know whether I can say I'll never touch alcohol again but I want to change the way I drink. However, I also recognise that this may not be possible for me. Complete abstinence may be the only option.

As I say, I can go days without drinking (well 3/4 Blush) but when I do I can't seem to stop at one unless I'm driving.

RedMoomin · 01/10/2010 09:12

RedMoomin · 01/10/2010 09:15

PS. Day 10 here - feels like it has been a while since I have made it this far.

AA meeting tonight - home group so I always look forward to that. I think that it was CJ who suggested a meeting as a great way of getting through the dangerous part of the evening, I couldn't agree more. Many a time I have wanted to drink but thought, "I will go to the meeting and then I will have a drink." But by the time I have come out of the meeting the urge has gone. Replaced by peace. Give it a go if you can!

RedMoomin · 01/10/2010 09:16

Good morning JAB - I hope you don't have to wait too long! How are you feeling today?

JWN - really pleased to hear that your DF is OK. Sending him get well soon computer fairy vibes! Good luck for today too.
