I'd be inclined to agree with Starting Beebers
I have told my parents although not until they had to know as a result of other past family issues. I have kept one thing back though, just because it would really upset them

startingovernow · 27/07/2010 22:44

You will not change the opinions of anyone old school or judgemental. It is enough for you to know that this was not your failure. Keep your head high & never try to justify yourself to those who judge you. Maybe give it a little bit more time before saying anything so that you will be less raw........

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 27/07/2010 22:49

Mm difficult one
I would still be inclined to say myself just because I would find if harder to not be honest
But there's a time for everything and if you don't feel like it then probably the time is not right

startingovernow · 27/07/2010 22:56

Ok Getting & Pink, to avoid having to do the whole copy & paste bit go into customise at top of thread under options you will see thread set for 25 messages per page, you can set this to unlimited if you wish. teaandcakeplease · 27/07/2010 23:03

Ahh thanks ladies for compliments, it isn't entirely perfect but enough that DD will be happy. I do want to do a course in cake decorating at some point. I think I'd just like to do them for friends, just for the cost of the ingredients and nothing more.

marie antoinette's boudoir - Ooooh loving it, let's see a pic Beebers of the mirror!

Beebers my whole family are God fearing, all happily married, old school types. However I do think it is good to be honest, as others have said; no gory details just the basics. Do it when you're ready, whether its 1 months, 2 month etc. I think it's good of your dad to want to protect them but you need to be true to yourself and not pretend everything is lovely. It's not fair on you imo but yes leave it a short while yet, if that's what you feel is best. You can't win anyway and will be judged whenever you say something. But this situation was not your fault! Just remember that, he left you.

teaandcakeplease · 27/07/2010 23:05

LOL x posted with Startings one at 22:44 and above. So our advice is pretty similar

Ah good
Are there three lavs there then?
Getting are u near there then - I have been there
< racks brains and yet again can't remember who lives where or is everyone in Watford? >
< getting cat me if you like and then we can discuss >

gettingeasier · 28/07/2010 00:17

Yes Happy well if I knew wtf CAT was I would

Would all available dumplings like to come to Getting Towers on the 25th ? Yes I AM near Watford!! Seriously I am happy to host but strictly no cooking so bring your own or a giant order from local chippy ...

Quite happy if dumplings feel a more sophisticated ,neutral venue would be more suitable just a thought really. Also dont have much here for small dcs apart from apond they could tumble into..

Ok seriously I am 25 minutes out of Kings Cross on the train live in Welwyn Garden City and have fair bit of space . Whats the precedent on this ?

V excited, just leapt off sofa & checked coin jar, have located £20 for meet up trip . Happy am indeed dumpling that makes money out of nothing me thinks .

Two questions, 1) Is an ulster bank note acceptable? 2) Do you have a two pound coin?? It's big & has a pic of Queen Elizabeth on back so am thinking that it's legal tender? Meeting fund has commenced

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 28/07/2010 00:33

< regrets decision to get involved in meet up and remembers that being single parent is enough responsibility >

CAT is what you do to contact someone off thread. It's on the page somewhere

Starting whatever will you do when your pot of gold dries up? Perhaps we should come to yours for a treasure hunt

Getting what we did last time was to discuss endless possibilities and in the end find a location that suited those that could come. It was in the UK.

startingovernow · 28/07/2010 00:33

Patience, hope you're night was v successful. Any chance that you'll be able to join meet up??

startingovernow · 28/07/2010 00:38

Happy, my pot of gold dried up the day xh departed but seriously no negative comments on my good fortune atm please as I'm hoping it will continue . Any answers on the note & coin??

startingovernow · 28/07/2010 00:41

Happy, glad to hear all ok. Take care & hope the wine knock you out

teaandcakeplease · 28/07/2010 08:19

Getting - in the blue bar where a name is on who has posted, if you look to the right there is something called "contact poster". Click on it and send a message. So for Happy, find one of her posts, look across and click the contact poster. That is what CAT is

armbow · 28/07/2010 08:38

startingovernow · 28/07/2010 08:52

Tea, have a great day today with party

Armbow, wow, you are a true dumpling! That all sounds fantastic & puts me slightly to shame with all you've achieved & are aiming for in such a short period of time. I was still lounging in pj's & wringing tissues at your stage

DutchGirly · 28/07/2010 08:59

Tea, have a great birthday party!

Mmmm, what is new with me? Dog is now proud owner of doggy wheels so we're the new tourist attraction now. Still seeing NY-er who spoiled me rotten for my birthday but not sure if it is going anywhere.

Little princess has been fully potty trained and X is starting to behave himself.

beebers · 28/07/2010 10:22

i want to live in a little cottage, in a village. armbow it sounds fantastic.

today, i am taking the children to the pound shop its their favourite place in the world as they can have whatever toy they want (that will fall apart in five seconds) they dont seem to realise its called the pound shop for a reason.

i have a night out on saturday, pedicure has been put on hold due to toe that now has it's own pulse and i think perhaps several glasses of fine red wine will stop it hurting so much.

have just ordered the true blood collection of books so i can take them on my holiday with me and am trying to find things to do in paignton with the kids so if you have any ideas or live near there, can i please hear them or pop over and cry at you? have a lovely day dumplings.
