So it’s taken a sad, untimely death to bring me out of retirement. How I have missed you all Flowers

Boo hoo

She was a good 'un.

Poor Joe will be beside himself.

reallybadidea · 23/02/2018 21:52

Oh brilliant. Thanks for ruining the omnibus for me with that thread title Angry

PseudoBadger · 23/02/2018 21:54

Sorry but it’s always been fair game once the episode has aired.

Surprisingly it made me weep tonight. I loathe Will, and was ambivalent about Nic. Really well done, I though. Poor Joe.

DadDadDad · 23/02/2018 21:57

In other news, I guess I'm fired then.

Welcome back, Pseudo.

PseudoBadger · 23/02/2018 21:58

Not at all D3, hopefully we can all share the load...

A "feeling of utter dread" isn't much use to those of us with anxiety, we feel that all the time anyway Grin

PseudoBadger · 23/02/2018 22:01

Amen to that!

The last thread was titled "What's your poison?" We didn't see blood poison coming... Confused

SheepySheepy · 23/02/2018 22:07

Baked I totally know what you mean, I also suffer in that way and sepsis is such a scary uncontrollable one.

But I've seen the feeling of dread associated with it described both on here and in RL from medical friends as like you really feel like you are dying. And I think even in my worst anxiety I can identify between knowing I am anxious/dread rather than body shutting down/dying dead.

If that makes any sense. Sorry to derail the thread!

PseudoBadger · 23/02/2018 22:08

It’s also sometimes described as ‘a sense of impending doom’ isn’t it?

Can I just use this as a living will - I do not want Joe Grundy anywhere near me if I'm critically ill. "You're leaving here to go to a better place..." But he didn't say that! Nic said she was frightened, and Joe said "you're bound to be if you're caught between here and a better place". Quite different!

Then he said something to tell her she could come back this-a-way, while Nic said something on the lines of she'd be going to the otehr place, she'd been bad. Joe told she hadn't an ounce of bad in her, and then she made her death bed confession.

Interesting how the sw have suddenly begum to appreciate older people - first Peggy and now Joe have started to show a great deal of wisdom in their last years, and to have been of real support.

LilaTheLion · 23/02/2018 22:11

Oh. Could we not have massive spoilers in thread titles? Some of us listen to the omnibus ☹️

Gruach · 23/02/2018 22:12

Yay!Star

Whoop!!FlowersFlowers

Welcome back btw.

Two things: I am always careful to avoid the hour around TA when booking Ocado deliveries. Anything else is madness.

I knew this meant something ... Remember last time Alice and Nic had a conversation? The topic of Will and Nic’s loyalty to the Aldridges led on (iirc) to Alice’s recent drunken behaviour. And Nic said something like “Never mind, we all make mistakes.” But I’m certain her exact wording was more tilted towards Alice having made the nameless mistake ...

EsmesBees · 23/02/2018 22:13

Welcome back pseudo thanks for the new thread.

Still feel very sad about tonight's episode. I haven't been able to listen all week so it took me completely off guard. I always liked Nic and thought she was underused as a character.

Vango · 23/02/2018 22:17

Sad times. Nothing to add. Thank you Pseudo ⭐️

Gruach · 23/02/2018 22:20

GrinGrinGrin

Sorry D3!

(You should all pop back and see how bright and shiny D3 has left the previous thread, btw. GrinGrinStar )

Vango · 23/02/2018 22:21

And thank you DDD for keeping things going. You are Will to Pseudo’s Ed. Don’t get bitter.

LillianGish · 23/02/2018 22:23

am still peeved at the clunky build up to it all - Nic's death certainly explains the clunky build up. Can't say I'll hugely miss her as a character - she was silent for a long period before making her come back as the saviour of the nativity. I think her death will make Will a more interesting character - I'll certainly be feeling more sympathetic towards him and it will change the dynamic between him and Ed and Emma.

WoodenCat · 23/02/2018 22:23

Thank you for the new thread. Don’t worry D3 - you can still be employed as I reckon that last thread filled up quicker than many recent ones. How about some lovely comforting statistics to help us through this sad time? Smile

DadDadDad · 23/02/2018 22:24

You are Will to Pseudo’s Ed. Don’t get bitter.

Well, I wasn't bitter until I read that... Angry

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/02/2018 22:25

Thanks for the new thread, Pseudo!

If this link works, it takes you to a tweet from the BBC which transcribes the dialogue between Joe and Nic.

PseudoBadger · 23/02/2018 22:28

Oh thanks goodness I’m Ed!

Wooden - you're right. This is like the time I ended up chair of my son's school PTA (at the very first meeting I went to!) - I was much happier when later someone else took it on and they let me be treasurer instead. Stats make me happy...

JigglyTuff · 23/02/2018 22:28

I wasn't expecting that! I didn't like her much and even less after the other week with Emma. But she was kind to smelly old Joe (amend no, I don't know he's smelly but he's bound to be).

I'm also slightly glad that something bad has happened to 'sun shines out my arse' William. I hope he's miserable
