So it’s taken a sad, untimely death to bring me out of retirement. How I have missed you all Flowers

Poor Nic, like 90% of Ambridge, was originally a casualty of SoC. Shame HKW didn’t decide to sacrifice Shula instead. Though I guess the village would probably have recovered sooner from that. Nic’s death, for one so uncontroversial, will impact quite a lot of people.

Mootsie · 23/02/2018 22:31

I'm wondering if Will might move to Grange farm so that he can have help with the children which will leave the tied cottage free for Ed and Emma who will qualify now that Ed is working full time for Adam.

Always assuming Adam himself still has a job. Hmm

Thanks for the new thread, Pseudo.

Poor old Nic!

PseudoBadger · 23/02/2018 22:37

Will will (ha!) turn into another embittered, suicidal gamekeeper?

I bet she hadn't expressed any wishes for her kids in a will. William will have no right to see his stepkids at all. Of course her ex could have disappeared......has he been mentioned as seeing the kids in living memory?

AdalindSchade · 23/02/2018 22:39

Awwwwww poor Nic! She was lovely. Jolene will feel bad. I knew the cut on her hand was leading to something.

NorthernLurker · 23/02/2018 22:40

Can I predict that Helen chooses to make this all about her? 'If that happened to me what would happen to my boys? I must make my will immediately. Mum can you have the boys whilst I go and make it legal that you have the boys if I get scratched by a sharp Borsetshire Blue?'

Vango · 23/02/2018 22:47

Why do people find it difficult to like or understand Will? (Genuine question)

CaraBosse1 · 23/02/2018 22:48

SLs like this are not good for my hypochondria.

CaraBosse1 · 23/02/2018 22:50

Vango - I've only been listening for a few years so didn't know Will's backstory and hated his whiny voice. Thanks to these threads, I understand him more.

littlebillie · 23/02/2018 22:51

I think if you look back at your family t tree there will be a few sepsis deaths I can already think of 2. The fish bone one makes me paranoid and the sense of dread is very true

RubyLennoxExists · 23/02/2018 22:51

William will have no right to see his stepkids at all.
Not necessarily. If they've been living with him for however many years and want to stay with him then the court might well find in his favour rather than the bio dad.

Gruach · 23/02/2018 22:51

I’m sure it was the same house Greg was living in when he died. (Though I seem to recall he took himself elsewhere at the end?)

So yes, Will might turn into another Greg. But I like to think he’ll move somewhere less ill fated and eventually meet the third Mrs Grundy.

Vango · 23/02/2018 22:52

Thanks CaraBosse1. There’s a good summary here

www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/archers/ed_grundy_life.shtml

Vango · 23/02/2018 22:54

*it’s actually a summary of Ed’s experiences but you get an idea of everything Will endured along the way Sad

JigglyTuff · 23/02/2018 22:55

Am I alone in disliking Nic? She was married to vile Will and was a horrible snob

NorthernLurker · 23/02/2018 22:55

Will is basically a rather cold and controlling personality. Perhaps even slightly psychopathic. He's nothing like his parents or brother but that's why his mother makes excuses for him, she knows he's flawed. That's why Emma fell for Ed. Better looking and not cold. That's why he's a gamekeeper. It's all about calculation and emotional distance.
He's going to fall to pieces over this, he's no resilience at all. His family will support him and take the kids off his hands, Clarrie and Eddie will parent Poppy because they know he can't and in a couple of months he will meet another woman and move fast because that's how he will regain his sense of self worth and inner peace.

Depressed myself now....

Vango · 23/02/2018 22:58

That's why Emma fell for Ed.

What made her choose to marry Will? (Having had relationships with both beforehand.)

JessieMcJessie · 23/02/2018 22:58

Jigglytuff hasn't Will already had a pretty bad time of it- having your new wife cheat on you with your brother is fairly unpleasant. And to find happiness only to have it snatched away again, leaving you with three bewildered children to care for? I don’t particularly like Will but I would not wish that in anyone.

whiteroseredrose · 23/02/2018 22:58

Nic wasn't a snob at all! She met Will when she was a struggling single mum on the bus.

BitOutOfPractice · 23/02/2018 23:01

I think the SWs sort of did know ...

Erm yes thanks I think we all know how drama works thanks @GnotherGnu Hmm But the the character Will didn't know (that it was her last lucid moment and he should stay). If everyone had the marvellous foresight to know when their loved ones were about to breath their last then nobody would ever miss those moments. Many people do. Me included. Sadly we don't all have mn threads to tell us how unbelievably stupid our actions are

Sorry that's a carry over from previous thread that made my eyes roll a bit.

Vango · 23/02/2018 23:02

his mother makes excuses for him

He was the ‘good son’ growing up. Gave them no trouble at all, while Ed was busy tearing the family apart and causing Clarrie endless heartache.
