DH hates The Archers but knows all the storylines as I listen. Even he commented that a mega 'oh nooooo!' is brewing from Roof.

I know it's not real. But I do find the number of people wanting Lillian and Matt to get back together deeply depressing. He is an adulterous, dishonest, controlling, abusive arsehole. As bad as Rob.

The whole Brookfield clan are so effing superior, and Pip's discomfort at all the people saying how wonderful she is has been pretty delicious. This is the perfect lesson for owning up straight away isn't it?

Agree re Lil n Matt. It's almost as if SOC were still writing the storylines (i.e. totally unbelievable rubbish).

Yes I've never liked Matt, and his seemingly affected wide boy accent gets on my nerves. I'm not Team Justin either, however. I'm Team Get A Grip Lillian.

I do wish I could feel something more than mild about the Brookfield saga. Everything else is a blessed relief compared to that. Surely I ought to care about the poor cows?

Matt's presence is symbolic of The End of Sean. Also he's interesting, although not a nice person. He's good at mixing things up, and I loved how he tied the BL board in knots. :o

Yes - Matt's return is a sign that SOC's era had ended. The actor chose to leave in SOC's early dodgy cast shake-up. I think he didn't like the cut of SOC's jib and walked before they could record a departure scene. Something like that. I'm glad Matt is back so that he can leave again but with a more-fitting exit.

Another #TeamLilianGetAGrip here. I think she's better off without either Matt or Justin long term. I'd be happy to see Justin exit too. Perhaps to join Pip on an International Farming Investment Long-Term Travel Thingie?

BTW, forgot to say over the weekend. If it was known on the spoiler thread about Matt coming back but you all managed to keep schtum on the main thread, it's much appreciated.

Matt makes absolutely no bones about who he is. What you see is what you get with him and Lillian knows exactly what to expect.

I'm amazed that people's characters in general are so so black and white to some posters. I don't know where to start but there's no way that Matt is as bad as Rob!

I agree vango. Not that I think Lillian should get back together with him! It's depressing that she can't seem to cope with being single

My thoughts on Pip are that David and Ruth will blame themselves, be full of remorse and will do anything to make it up to her. They'll convince themselves that the trouble started when they considered moving and it'll be a story full of references to 'pooah Pip' and 'we should have noahticed Deevid'.

Once the dust has settled, and after a massive row, they'll decrease her workload, increase her pay and spend the rest of the year apologising for overworking her and taking her for granted. Brace yourselves.

Oh, and Josh will NEVER be forgiven for breaking the fence.

Matt's a horrible person, but he's a great character, and this should stir things up nicely. You do know what you are getting with Matt - I think Justin is just as bad in many ways, just hasn't been caught out and wants to be the country squire, whereas Matt's just Matt.

Lilian is definitely better off without either of them, though.
