Pip can't win with you lot Grin

I loathe her, too, but she is trying to do something! And there's often disorganised people like myself who decide to go away last minute.

TheAntiBoop · 06/05/2017 10:24

She is extremely trying

Vango · 06/05/2017 10:38

I think he genuinely doesn't want to lose her

I don't think either of them cares for the other. There was never any particular attraction. They got together because Pip was cross about Matthew and Toby was at a loose end. Moving in together was (as said above) purely to annoy Jill (on Pip's part) and a convenient opportunity for free bed and board for Toby. They have nothing in common, neither can tell the truth and they seem to have zero interest in each other's lives. The sooner we all move on the better!

BertrandRussell I very much doubt Toby would even know what a Pandora bracelet is, posh or not. Would Pip like one? I doubt it ...

Anyway I must have missed the Pandora bracelet bit, I've missed quite a lot this week. I'll have to listen again tomorrow , unless someone can enlighten me on here ....

why would an experienced vet like Big Al, and an experienced horse owner like Shula think it appropriate to put a young, untested horse, which incidentally does not belong to them, and which is suffering from intestinal worms, and possibly other parasites or diseases, which also has quite severe injuries that a week ago they thought were almost bad enough to warrant destroying the animal, into a field with an older, unwell horse, which they also don't own and with owners who cannot afford to feed both?

just asking.

If Bartleby was so desperate for a friend couldn't Shula have lent out the donkey? I mean the real donkey, not Big Al.

GrumpyOldBag · 06/05/2017 10:46

My DH is not posh, but he would always have gone to Tiffany for a present to impress me ...

Vango · 06/05/2017 10:46

but she is trying to do something!

The only thing she's trying to do is to extricate herself from a relationship that's both emotionally and financially draining. She knows it's run its course but instead of being honest with both herself and Toby, she's deluding herself. Again.

Why the Dickens did Toby give Pip that Pandora's Box?

Imbroglio · 07/05/2017 14:14

Kenton's suggestion. Grin

In nearly 40 years together my husband has never bought me a piece of jewellery and I doubt he ever will. I don't think he'd have a clue what to get or what I would like, as I wear very little jewellery. My daughter has bought me some nice little costume pieces from charity shops Grin and I do wear those when I remember. I have made it very clear that I would not welcome a charm bracelet. They don't seem practical to me. I'd have to take it off to cook, clean, type and so forth.

Actually, I tell a lie. He bought me a Garmin stepcounter for my birthday a few years ago as an incentive to get more active. Grin This was something I would never have bought for myself but I am very fond of it now.

It could actually be quite an interesting storyline if Toby and Pip stay together and have a long and not very happy marriage. The Rob/Helen marriage was compelling was because it was so irredeemably awful, but it's more common to encounter a marriage where the couple stay together out of inertia and/or false pride and/or for the sake of their children. For dramatic purposes, this is more interesting to eavesdrop on than a perfect marriage, and it would create some good inheritance angst.
