Grin I meant that as a rich woman with a taste for expensive things Lilian prefers the company of rich men with a taste for conspicuous consumption, because their pooled resources give her access to even more expensive things and they have more in common than she would with a less affluent man. I thought the expense account arrangement was extremely tacky and probably unnecessary as Lilian would have agreed to have an affair with Justin without the financial inducement. However, it was the figleaf he needed to explain to Miranda and the wider world why he was spending so much time with Lilian.

R4 · 12/04/2017 10:29

Oh. It sounds so reasonable when you explain it like that.Grin

Lilian is materialistic, narcissistic, shallow, has the attention span of a goldfish and wants to live beyond her means. She is great fun to watch from afar in a disapproving way but I would hate to have someone like that in my life.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/04/2017 10:30

Snap!

TheAntiBoop · 12/04/2017 11:30

Lillian took the job in full knowledge that it was a cover for an affair

Now I hope Justin isn't taking a tax deduction for her costs as the tax man might have something to say about putting your mistresses costs through the business!!

TheAntiBoop · 12/04/2017 19:05

the usha harrison scene was yawnsome. Glad it's likely to be the end of the whole thing

BertrandRussell · 12/04/2017 19:29

Well, that was dull. Apart from Tom's threatening email to David........

Yeah, I know soaps can accommodate boredom but I think the pacing of this one has been misjudged. Or focus more on the Emma/Ed/Grundy finances story or reactions at Home Farm to developments with Fag Ash - the cricket is just painful. They (the writers) really seem to be floundering with the material at the moment.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 12/04/2017 20:31

Gosh that was dull.

WipsGlitter · 12/04/2017 21:19

Had the Brighton thing been resolved?

Abraiid2 · 12/04/2017 21:23

I think it's a blog post rather than an email.

witchmountain · 12/04/2017 21:31

Yeah, I think a public blog post too.

TheAntiBoop · 12/04/2017 21:33

That's what lowfield suggests

How many hits do you reckon the blog gets? Scary thought that three people might read toms ranting - and one of thems his mum

mummytime · 12/04/2017 21:53

I thought it was a blog post. And surely it might be the kind of thing the Borchester Echo gets hold of, and cause all kinds of problems for everyone... "Plague Village struck again".

LillianGish · 12/04/2017 22:22

Was that the dullest episode ever? Even Usha would rather go to church on Thursday than listen to any more of it. I'm rather hoping the sinkhole will appear under the cricket pitch.

yikesanotherbooboo · 13/04/2017 19:36

Hooray... cricket story over!

redshoeblueshoe · 13/04/2017 19:50

Enjoyed that. I think this engagement may be rather short

TheAntiBoop · 13/04/2017 20:03

Thank goodness he isn't divorced yet or we really would have a marry in haste, repent in leisure sl

redshoeblueshoe · 13/04/2017 20:40

I hope Miranda really drags it out

Minimammoth · 13/04/2017 21:07

I am assuming Miranda will go for halves of the wealth.

I liked Susan being good at Cricket, and knowing teams around here she would definitely find herself in the squad.
Matt was deliberately provoking Lilian, he is a wonderful character (if a horrible man) because he is so manipulative. And it is totally in character that we don't know all he knows, I am sure he has a plan.
I also liked the mention of Amber and her being good at cricket, maybe there is still a chance for romance with Johnny?

Ceto · 14/04/2017 09:56

I liked Neil pushing Susan about the cricket. He was absolutely right, it would have been outrageous for her to make such a fuss about it and then not turn up.

ppeatfruit · 14/04/2017 18:26

Have just caught up. (out of breath emojii) . Thanks for the 77th??? thread pseodo

I have been listening most of the time and nearly fell off my chair when Matt made his reappearance. One of you clever posters forecast him saying exactly that. Do we think that this thread is required reading for the SWs?

Ref. LilMatJus. triangle, she's as sleazy as the blokes involved. I wonder if Matt stealing from her was his way of punishing her for the affair with his half brother. It's the sort of thing a minor crim., emotionally crippled man would do. But he's no Rob Tit.
