Liking Matt as an interesting, well-written, well-acted character with many redeeming features and believable human flaws is perfectly understandable to me!

Hillfarmer · 11/04/2017 17:15

'Evening all. Surely the Borsetshire constabulary will be interested in talking to Matt? There was certainly major theft from Lillian and PC Burns was on the case, was he not?

I don't think he is well written. What redeeming features?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 11/04/2017 17:30

How can anyone like Matt?????

No idea Bert.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 11/04/2017 17:31

What are Matt's good points? I really can't think of any.

IAmNotAUserNumber · 11/04/2017 17:32

Certainly not loving Lillian, before anyone says that - he stole from her and walked out on her with no warning or explanation.

Gruach · 11/04/2017 17:59

I don't like Matt (apart from that one time with James) - I like him as a character in TA ...

EsmesBees · 11/04/2017 18:41

I generally like Matt (apart from that storyline with the older tenants he was trying to evict, he was awful then). He's down to earth, funny, doesn't feel the need to fit in. I actually find it hard to reconcile the Matt I used to like with the one who left Lillian in the lurch like that. It will be interesting to see whether they can salvage the character from the abrupt nature of his departure.

DoctorTwo · 11/04/2017 18:43

I loved how Brine's golf fell apart after the conversation with Matt. IME something like that really affects your game. Not that I play anymore, I'm too poor and my knees are too fucked.

RandomDent · 11/04/2017 19:01

Yup, Ambex was crap and of course the actor's hasty departure should not be counted really. And while I'm busy making excuses, that irritating old couple, (what was the oft uttered phrase? "With her hip?" ) well that was more about Daryl. :o

TheAntiBoop · 11/04/2017 19:06

Yes Matt was token baddie in hwmnbn story arc

I am happy to overlook the soc years nonsense (the jilting, Matt disappearing, the flood that doesn't seem to have had much impact other than stopping the ridiculous move etc etc) if we go back to some pre soc normality

Vango · 11/04/2017 19:13

Now Emma and Ed are two characters I have plenty of HATE for. All that two faced one-upmanship. Horrible pair.

EmilyDickinson · 11/04/2017 19:13

Wow! Is Carrie the nicest mother-in-law in the world or what?

EmilyDickinson · 11/04/2017 19:14

Clarrie

yikesanotherbooboo · 11/04/2017 19:49

Love Clarrie .. every badge going please!
I like Eand E also... not keen on Emma playing up comparisons with Will or Alice but she has a complicated set of feelings for both of them and has been up for half the night!

Another example of Ruth thinking pip can do no wrong tonight

'David I know you didn't notice the leak but don't beat yourself up, genius pip didn't notice so it really was unlikely a mere mortal like you would. Oh but don't tell her, it might upset her if she thinks we might think she made a mistake

Abraiid2 · 11/04/2017 21:35

I don't miss Brenda at all, but I do miss Hayley, who had some joie de vivre to her before Roy misbehaved.

Megatherium · 12/04/2017 00:06

Any tractor experts around? Would some sort of warning light have come on if the oil was low?

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 12/04/2017 00:18

Well Aunty Shula has sinned by omission herself big time, with witnessing Rib attacking the hunt sab.

I agree with you Cromwell, calling Lil's choices prostitution is a retrograde insult and not accurate at all.

Justin said any of the girls in the office could have organised his diary. There was no need for a job title and an unlimited expenses account for dresses. Lilian was bought and she knows it. In fact, wasn't it pretty much explicitly agreed at the time they made the deal that she was to be his mistress. Lilian loves Justin's bank account, not Justin - hence why she turned down his proposal.

I can't think of a man she has been out with who wasn't rich and showered her with gifts, apart from toyboy Scott.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/04/2017 09:17

Yes, but she is also very rich, admittedly as a result of marriage.

R4 · 12/04/2017 09:21

I rest my case!
