Wishful thinking. I think she's in it for the long haul Sad

Agree Bert I like them both really but maybe I'm a bit more team Dave.

I'm pretty sure Caroline offered Roy the managership while she's to be away in Tuscany.

ppeatfruit · 03/09/2015 08:54

Yes she did enoch he was very pleased and is going to take it. I was just wondering about Kathy (maybe she's also going on holiday?)

It's interesting that Rob couldn't start a family with Jess yet she got pregnant subsequently very quickly. Given that he is highly likely to have used the same tactics on her as he has on Helen, maybe he really is firing blanks.

It would make sense if Knob were infertile and moved on to Helen to prove that the lack of a baby was Jess's "fault"

Kenton will refuse the money. Jolene will take matters into her own hands, accept the money, deal with the insurers and save the Bull. Hurrah!

Hope we get more from Neil and Susan and that everyone will finally stop boring on in Italian

So ... Kathy was taken on as Deputy Manager when Caroline realised she couldn't do everything herself?

Roy was offered a stop gap Receptionist position (to stop him inflicting a gap between his head and his neck when he left LL) and Caroline has recently offered him her own position as Manager (again) for the duration of her holiday?

Have I got that right? (Wasn't really paying attention to whatever Elizabeth or Shula said about GG so not certain who they were talking about.)

Anyway Caroline's never going to go back to work ...

Reading what I've just written - they haven't done this well. Far too much enthusiasm for moving figures around the board and too little consideration for sense.

Why go to all the trouble of dragging Kathy back to GG when they knew they weren't going to include her even in a major story centred on the place? If they wanted to write her out why not allow her to get a job at the other end of the country. She doesn't seem to have any ties to Ambridge now Jamie is independent.

And to have two people return to their old workplace is just lazy. No one does that in RL - do they?

Read the thread title and thought aha! She's finally done it. But no, dear god she's still not seen the light.

I've found it too painful to follow this story line and have listened to it less and less in recent years, even though I miss it. We'll all be cheering from the rooftops when she does finally (hopefully!) get rid of him.

I've never been a big fan of Jolene, but I thought she played it very well last night. And, to be fair, David could easily have gone over there and made a big speech to both of them (and Barry) in his usual grandstanding manner. I actually think his pragmatic, understated approach worked well.

Like the Susan and Neil stuff but shouldn't she be remembering that Bridge Farm is actually her employer? Or shouldn't Neil be reminding her of that.

I wonder if her "brainwave" is to get Charlie/Justin involved. She loves Charlie doesn't she?

Report
ppeatfruit · 03/09/2015 10:13

Yes of course I remember now, silent Kathy is deputy manager.

If Justin gets involved and buys Ambridge it'll be a fealty to him, he'll be Lord of the Manor and get right up Brine's nose who sees himself in that role IMO. Grin

Not just her employer. BF also take a large percentage of Neil's weaners.

As I said before, maybe the SWs are making Susan too gobby.

It's certainly happened at two of the companies I've worked for, but they've both been big multinationals, and sometimes, going away is the only way to move up the ladder.

Of course, this is exactly how Grey Gables and all the other businesses round Ambridge operate.

squeaver · 03/09/2015 11:05

Yes, R4, in fact isn't Neil "Pig Manager" or something? Wasn't that what he and Tom agreed when he so manfully stood up to Tom and Susan cooked her special chilli?

Report
EBearhug · 03/09/2015 11:12

I thought he agreed it with Tony when Tom was in Canada (as arranged by Rob.) But he probably had to reassert himself when Tom was back.

Do the Grundys still live at GG? Ridiculous!

Report
Gruach · 03/09/2015 12:52

Ain't it just?

And the idea of Caroline and Oliver disappearing to Tuscany for weeks or months while they still have displaced people living at Grey Gables and a slew of bad reviews ...

Report
ppeatfruit · 03/09/2015 13:00

Caroline is emotionally invested with the Grundys though. I didn't hear the episode in which she said they could live there till their house was finished for free? But I suppose she must've said it. Grin

I don't reckon their insurance is paying is it?

Report
squeaver · 03/09/2015 13:47

Well you can be damn sure that Hazel Woolley isn't paying...

But he probably had to reassert himself when Tom was back. he did. There was a debacle over fences and fields. Tom admitted Neil.was right. All has been well since

Report
Stickerrocks · 03/09/2015 14:59

I thought the Grundys didn't have any insurance? I could be mistaken though, as I lost interest with the flood by the time Joe was chasing ferrets around GG.

I don't remember their insurance being discussed Sticker Blimey are we going to have ALL the Grundy seniors homeless soon? As if there isn't enough misery in TA Sad Praps they'll have to split up between their children.

Umm The actress who plays Kathy's husband died in July - maybe that explains her absence?

Report
squeaver · 03/09/2015 15:12

Pretty sure they didn't have house contents insurance. But they were renting from Evil Hazel. They've said a few times "Oh she's going to do a grand job of doing up the house, the insurance'll see to that".

They must have heard about the village shop - surely they'd be panicking.
