Won't someone please give Kenton a kick in the FA Cup Finals, and a link to Money Saving Expert?

I reckon Charlie is way too cute for that. If Rob tries to blackmail him Charlie will manage to record his threats & then go to the police (blackmail is an actual crime after all)

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 31/05/2015 23:20

So DH gave me a book called Ambridge Chronicles form 2013 today and made me realise SO many characters are missing these days
Now admittedly there are lots I couldn't care a stuff for.
But still:
where is Jamie?
Have Mike and Vicky and Bethany moved now?
Where is Kathy?
What about Usha and Alan and Amy???
HeatherPet seems fine these days -no mention of her health.
Anyway.

Also . when Josh and Pip were arranging the ridiculous treasure hunt, Josh said "hi Sis!" really? Hmm

Maybe auntie cardboard hasn't been fine since the flood because of the jump she had to do out of the window when Rob was shouting at her??

ZeroFunDame · 31/05/2015 23:28

You forgot Chris Olivia.

Everyone forgets Chris. Even the SWsHmm.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/06/2015 00:13

Amid, Helen went with rob to the DNa test and we heard his conversation with Dr Locke so it definitely was him.

ZeroFunDame · 01/06/2015 00:16
  • But yes, it's a shame we've been deprived of so many conversations we ought to have heard.

Anthea's reaction to Matt's disappearance.
Maurice welcoming Tom back (don't think we heard that?)
Kathy at Bridge Farm.
Kathy at work at GG post flood. And I imagine her house would also have been affected. Although tbf they had rather run out of ideas to make her interesting.

I wonder if Caroline's insurance woes will finally persuade them to sell up and retire to travel the world. (I need to see Ed & Emma ensconced in the Grundy ancestral home.)

As for the rest - you could always pop over to the Spoilers thread OliviaGrin.

EBearhug · 01/06/2015 02:37

Kathy & Jamie live next door to the Grundys - I always assumed it was semi-detached, but that might just be because the Keeper's Cottage where I grew up was semi-detached.

JessieMcJessie · 01/06/2015 04:11

Olivia my brother calls me "Sis" or "sisturr" delivered in a slightly ironic tone and I call him "Bro". I know they do it in TA to make the relationships clear so it's probably a bit overdone (cf "Aunty Chris, Uncle Kenton etc) but it's not as unrealistic as many other devices that they use.

I was transported back to the 1980s with the mention of peach schnapps but totally forgot it was called "Archers". Durr.

I rather liked Joe's attempt to impersonate a swarthy car thief.

ppeatfruit · 01/06/2015 09:36

Well Dairyfarmers The corn fed\inside reared cattle looked in a dreadful state with runny faces (like white phlegmy stuff 'sorry everyone'). So compared to the completetly normal looking grass fed\outside reared ones didn't look as if their welfare was important. Sad

trevortrevorslatterfry · 01/06/2015 11:59

Thanks for the new thread!

Ooh I heard an episode for the first time in ages - the film, I think (I was listening to R4 on and off all day yesterday and can't remember at what time I heard TA).

The treasure hunt - did anyone else hear the joke about the rhyming clue at the pond? "as long as it doesn't rhyme with 'duck'"!! Shock honestly the youth of today Grin

Also sorry but Kenton's 50 inch TV isn't big enough to show sports in a pub! My own TV is 50 inches - he really needs a projector screen.
(Never mind that the cup final is on terrestrial TV anyway so no-one would need to go to the pub to see it anyway - tschah!)

^ Least likely objection to lack of realism in TA ^

Icimoi · 01/06/2015 14:18

To be fair, loads of people go to pubs to watch footie matches that are fully available on terrestrial TV - the pubs round us used to be heaving during World Cup matches. I suppose the attraction is the camaraderie plus easy availability of something to celebrate/drown sorrows with.

Talking of which, wasn't it peach schnapps that Arthur in Cabin Pressure was strictly forbidden to have Ever Again?

trevortrevorslatterfry · 01/06/2015 15:16

icimoi haha you're right - not everyone is as much of a miserable old git as me!

squeaver · 01/06/2015 15:31

Never mind Kate teaming up with Jenny-darling teaming for the Treasure Hunt, she needs to get together with her Aunt Lilian. They can take a hip flask with them for maximum embarrassment for Pheobe.

I think we've seen the last of Kathy and Jamie - after all where was she when her so-called best friend's husband was in hospital for all those months? And wouldn't Jamie be failing to study for some exams about now?

selsigfach · 01/06/2015 15:58

I thought Jamie left school at 16 to be a tree surgeon. Could be wrong!

ZeroFunDame · 01/06/2015 16:04

He did!

EBearhug · 01/06/2015 16:06

I think he got an apprenticeship as a tree surgeon, though I think it was somewhere around Ambridge.

WipsGlitter · 01/06/2015 16:11

I was wondering about Kathy as well!!

You can just see the Kenton debt storyline juggernaut gearing up for action.

EBearhug · 01/06/2015 16:30

"And if you've been affected by this storyline, please call the debt actionline on..."

I wonder if they could lever in some stuff about financial abuse in relationships, as there's been some report out today, as well.

RocknRollNerd · 01/06/2015 18:17

Sunday's episode was utter tosh!

I'm also bored by the whole Kenton finance thing, it's pretty much a rehash of Ed's financial problems even down to the brotherly tedium.

At what point does someone tell Kate that she's too old for Young Farmers - I was going to their stuff when I was 15 - in the same way that I no longer go see bands where they're considerably younger than me, you should probably never go along to social events your teenage child has organised - it's undignified!

Re storage tanks on farms, I was raised with Apaches shown on local TV every summer and am bloody terrified of drowning on a farm even now Shock

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 01/06/2015 19:05

Did we really need to hear about the dross of yesterday?

Maybe Caroline and Oliver will go on a round the world cruise and let the grundys move in

Shallishanti · 01/06/2015 19:14

oah noah!

Bluestocking · 01/06/2015 19:15

Thank goodness Mrs Watkins has remembered poor old Heatherpet - the Dopeys haven't thought about her for weeks.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 01/06/2015 19:15

Really? Did we need that ickiness re Ruth and David. I really don't need the implied mental picture.

Woodbine is so going to be vacant for evicted grundys or fairbrethren

Nice to hear some farming chat - although interrupted by David's noisy slurping.

So we hear from heather again (or not). Sounds like she will have to be in a home or moving down to ambridge. David is reinforcing exactly why she wanted to move though.

A well planned out elderly parent declining health story would be good.

Bluestocking · 01/06/2015 19:15

Don't listen, Ruth, she's going to die tonight!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 01/06/2015 19:16

Love the PA comment by the continuity announcer!

Bluestocking · 01/06/2015 19:16

Oh, what a naughty continuity announcer!
