It looks like Peggy's being set up to die soon. I very much enjoyed Jennifer's irritation being taken out on Charlie. And David come to that!

A better episode methinks? Charlie reminds me of a person I once worked with - basically a bully who tried to browbeat everyone else into her way of thinking, could never listen to anyone else's POV, would shout people down at meetings, etc. Ghastly person, and not nearly as popular as she thought she was. .

What do we think of Peggy's view on suicide? I'd imagine it's in line with her other quite conservative opinions. So she is depressed and needs medical help. Will the SWs let her have it or not? JD on roll. Wonderful.

Cos pic of the guy as in bonfire guy on front of Echo. JD's article against road published with by-line. She wanted by--line omitted. David annoyed at Charlie. He shouts. Brian annoyed at JD. Cos he has his reputation. JD shouts at kitchen people for yet another delay, then at Charlie and Brian re- road. She is awesome, as the young folk would have it. Meantime Peggoi is eating scones and playing Scrabble with Christine - some great lines there, do try to get the omnibus - and Peg tells us all how low she is feeling. A better episode at last.

Achebe? I wonder. She's older than him. Would she have kept up with, or even come across, contemporary Commonwealth literature??

I think a story about loneliness in the elderly is a brilliant idea. I dot think suicide would do it justice.

Great episode! Loved JD suddenly remembering she has a backbone. And poor old Piggoi, I felt really quite sorry for her; Scrabble with Auntie Cardboard enough to make anyone feel the centre wouldn't hold. I can't imagine P contemplating suicide, I think that despite all the lip-trembling, her rock-solid sense of self-belief will carry her through to a triumphant Good Death of natural causes with all her family (including The Prodigal Sausage) around her.

If they kill Peggy off before June Spencer decides to retire/has to be medically retired/SOTMCs, I will be very annoyed indeed. I hope they bear this in mind.

Zero I have told you this before - that is not allowed. In fact I would defo have to take up another hobby if they made Adam do that again. Something might happen but adam will not bite. If he does I will have to come back for one big swear before flouncing.

The problem with the lonely Peggoi storyline is that she's hardly the typical lonely old lady, is she? She's apparently got Fagash and JennyDarling looking in on her every day, now she's got Christine visiting, and then there's Knob smarming round with Hell whenever he gets the chance. She's perfectly capable of getting herself out to the shop and church, and I expect Alan is another one who keeps an eye on her. Old people who don't see their relatives and friends from one month to the next must be wondering what she has to complain about.
