Have you had your free venison burger?

RnRN Your AmEx summaries were brilliant! I used to enjoy them more than the actual broadcasts.

Re Alistair and Shula I wondered if, instead of an affair (boring) it might be that Alistair is becoming professionally restless and wants to try something new. He mentioned a practice that was opening a new branch (or whatever) on "the other side of town". Perhaps he's after something like that but doesn't think he'd be allowed.....

BasketzatDawn · 09/06/2014 18:31

It did cross my mind maybe it'll be a DanLostintheBlackMountains scenario (rather like Mark Thatcher all those years ago - except with more rain Smile). I can't believe they'll dead him. It would be too soon for another 'lost son' - and the beeb would lose listeners if they hear any more emoting from any of them but especially Shula. Plus it would be too hard to make it realistic and tactful - imagine the poor timing if a real soldier died in training around the same time. I think there was one a few days ago in fact. A vehicle fell on him or something.Sad

I can't believe how huffy Shula was over A's networking. I HATE people who go in huffs, and it's not like he was away all weekend. Shula is especially ghastly just now. Maybe Al is getting fed up with her - and thinking of leaving? Though I agree with above that it's probably 'professional straying' that's on the cards. And Blessed Shula won't be pleased .....

WillieWaggledagger · 09/06/2014 19:05

she was huffy because alistair didn't drop everything for the homecoming of the conquering hero.

i wish we didn't have to hear her on air - can't we just hear her activities reported by someone else?

LillianGish · 09/06/2014 19:39

Should we read anything into the fact that both Hayley and Ian have been conspicuous by their absence recently while both their partners plan away days (or even weekends!) with someone else?

cheminotte · 09/06/2014 20:36

I did think it a shame that Brian wasn't going with Adam and Charlie to make a threesome chaperone them.

DadDadDad · 09/06/2014 20:54

Wry smile on my drive home this evening - I had literally just driven past the fields on the A505 where they really are holding the Cereals 2014 conference this week, when Brian started talking to Adam about it. Grin

I almost felt like I was in TA (silent character, of course)...

DadDadDad · 09/06/2014 20:56

Here it is, 5 miles-ish from my house. www.cerealsevent.co.uk/

Sneezecakesmum · 09/06/2014 20:58

Charlie is decidedly wooden in his acting style but just so blasé about everything he is growing on me! I'm surprised he didn't say to Rob.....dead calf? ........chop it up and sell it with the venison burgers Grin

Lizzie/Roy, Adam/Charlie .......got to be some shenanigans somewhere along the line.

Shula is having pins stuck in her model as we speak!

Sneezecakesmum · 09/06/2014 21:01

If you need the dirt on anyone I've got it here!

They're really building up the Lizard-and-Rota-boy-in-a-tent thing, aren't they? Are we supposed to think they're going to Get It On?

Selks · 09/06/2014 21:11

Oo lovely new thread Smile

Best storyline is Roy and Elizabeth off festival-ing...I hope the SWs so that scenario justice!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 09/06/2014 21:12

Goodness - I had no idea the cereals trade was so testosterone driven. Judging by the event website one might imagine that some terrible blight had wiped women off the face of the planet.

Wouldn't Debbie be a cereal visitor? (Should think she'd be quite the nuisance as a gooseberry.)

LillianG Perhaps we should look out for Hayley in Casualty?

DadDadDad · 09/06/2014 21:19

Nonsense Zero, I counted at least three women in the gallery scrolling across the home page. Hmm

ppeatfruit · 09/06/2014 21:36

I reckon when Hayley finds out about Lizzie and Roy sharing a tent at eh festival HE"D be the one in Casualty !!Grin.......,sorry...

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 09/06/2014 21:37

Three?!

BasketzatDawn · 09/06/2014 22:09

Has anyone worked out what Lizzie sees in Roy? I've always thought of her as a bit of a snob, so suspect she'd normally regard Roy as beneath her. Of course she could just need a good seeing to and will take anyone with all his parts present and correct. Wink It's funny, Hayley reminds me of my SIL - she doesn't like roughing it (no camping, no beasties, no holidays in cramped spaces, etc) so it makes me wonder what Roy sees in Lizzie as she's just a posher version of Hayley IMO. Though I like Hayley and think she is honest and genuine in a way Lizzie isn't. I like my SIL too BTW. Maybe both women bring out Roy's 'manliness'. Grin

GypsyFloss · 09/06/2014 22:19

Roy's manliness? In my head he's pale and weedy and eternally middle aged by virtue of his name. Drippy.

I think they will get a bit pissed , he'll go for a snog and she'll be horrified. I'm really hoping not too much of this is on air Grin

MexicanSpringtime · 09/06/2014 22:22

Sorry to change the subject but I am just so surprised that there are absolutely no pacifists in Ambridge that have a problem about Daniel going off to study killing?

It all sounds like an armed forces promotional to me.

CuttedUpPear · 09/06/2014 23:25

Checking in

Selks · 09/06/2014 23:39

Yeah I can't quite form Roy in my mind. That name does not go with someone who is into festivals (huge generalisation, I know!)

Selks · 09/06/2014 23:40

Gypsy, no I reckon it will be the other way round... Grin

mummytime · 10/06/2014 05:46

Well what is odd is the Pacifist we haven't heard from about Dan (although it was flagged as a possible issue ages ago. That is Jim, who is his Grandfather/Step Grandfather. Alan is also a Pacifist, but quite realistically in my opinion, was much more woolly about it - as he would need to be as a C of E vicar. There are lots of times when you work for the established church, that you need to be more open to alternative views.

The Cereal thing doesn't surprise me - the one female I saw was from HSBC Bank (and maybe one walking around in the big picture. Farming can be pretty male dominated, and I'd think the Cereal (driving a tractor) bit even more so than Husbandry.

cheminotte · 10/06/2014 06:32

Re the armed forces. In last nights episode when Shula and Elizabeth were discussing Dan joining up and Elizabeth quoted Nigel's great uncle about 'every man being ashamed not to be in the army' (someone correct me please).
Shula asked if Nigel felt like this and Lizzie said - oh no he wasn't aggressive at all.
But Shula didn't say neither is my Dan. It does feel like she keeps going on about how 'terribly proud' she is.

TeenyfTroon · 10/06/2014 07:36

To go back to Lilian/Paul/Matt, (sorry, just discovered Pinterest, so been 'busy') I saw Paul's funeral as Matt's way of forcing some sort of closure on Lillian. It's more than we got - it really annoyed me that the story wasn't played out till Lilian got away from him and he got his comeuppance.

WillieWaggledagger · 10/06/2014 08:23

i go to a lot of conferences related to agriculture and they are very male-dominated
