pramsgalore · 15/11/2011 10:51

the bjcm is 1cm higher than the vista

misdee · 15/11/2011 10:58

So is it your site? If so u seem to hve done wht I alwys wnted to do.

I hve hAd over 200 buggies Blush nd trying to rein it in these days.

Tiggywunkle · 15/11/2011 11:00

The BJCM handle was too high for me on the double - single it doesn't matter as much. But I had the Vista handle extended a bit. Handle height is a curiosity to me. How come the low ABC Adventyre buggy is perfect but the B-Agile / Duet isn't? But yet the BJCM is too high and the Vista etc isn't? There's got to be some other factors that mean a pushchair is comfy to push or not? I am going to start measuring my optimal handle height.....because it's most strange....

misdee · 15/11/2011 11:03

I don't think its just handle height. Bob has a very high non adjustable handle, but I find it fine. I believe its more to do with the handle/centre of gravity/wheel base than just height alone.

pramsgalore · 15/11/2011 11:35

i have my xari and cam at 99cm and thats comfy, but i know i have pushed pushchairs with higher handles than that and they were fine, infact i suspect my stokke was set higher, but then they make you walk upright and the seats are designed for good posture for your lo. i keep coming back to the vista because of the basket, large high seat and the rave reviews i keep hearing. i could do with it arriving tomorrow if i get one, as i am having to stay in already for a delivery, but i need to get to the bank before 3 when it shuts, and i have someone coming to look at a pushchair soon Hmm i wish they would hurry up, although they did say lunch time is thats what 12.

misdee · 15/11/2011 11:35

also q for those who have had the bdual.

i used it today as a single, and it felt more rattly than yesterday. i only had the small boy with me and he was rearfacing. does the extra weight of a second child just lessen the rattle a bit? i didnt notice any issues yesterday.

pramsgalore · 15/11/2011 11:37

i hate rattles, its my biggest pet hate, hate rattles, creaks and wheels that do this /.....\

misdee · 15/11/2011 11:39

i've not had wheel that do that yet, but know janes have that issue, especially the older ones.

i want a bob back, am just hoping britax bring it over here and dont mess up the design.

pramsgalore · 15/11/2011 11:39

also wheels that look like they are wonky when they go round, but are not, its the way the wheel is made not perfect, i need to stop looking down at rear wheels and wear headphones Grin

pramsgalore · 15/11/2011 11:41

it always makes me look when i see a buzz, because those wheels do /.....\ and always more on the right which i think is where the brake is

misdee · 15/11/2011 11:41

hahaha when i had the retro nipper i inflated and deflated the tyres so many times as they looked wonky when they went round. the outer tyre was very loose when deflated so i had to tweak them till they looked perfect when inflated Blush

Tiggywunkle · 15/11/2011 11:44

Yes it is my site. I would welcome any help / reviews / photos but I am here just to natter with the other mad nutters lovely :o people here :)

I am sure weight, wheel base, centre of gravity all apply. I would love to talk to a 'proper' pushchair technician about the technical side to understand more (I would probably end up boggled!) I still feel sad about the Duet. I really thought it would be the pushchair that would clear the floor of all others. I will be interested to hear how people are getting on with it 15-24 months hence with older toddlers and babies.I thought handle height was the issue but I don't think it is just that - there's some other factor and I think it's probably both weight and the distribution of it.

Have you had a Bob? It's not a brand I have looked at because they always seemed so American. But now Britax have taken over, it could get interesting for us here.

pramsgalore · 15/11/2011 11:46

just been looking at what you were all saying about the oyster, i have almost bought one, just because i liked the purple one Blush i always stop myself because of the wheels at the front, i have also seen one in rl although it was the very first one when they first came out, and i did not like the hood

misdee · 15/11/2011 11:48

i have had a few bobs over the last 4 years. i bought my first bob off ebay on 07and it blows pre 2010 mb's out of the water. it was the old style with a slight recline.

then i had choc/pink bob for dd4, and loved it.

had a black/cream one briefly with ds but really needed a double so it didnt stay. am hoping to get my hands on one of the 2011 models if i can find someone to ship over. they dont meet uk safety standards which is why they arent over here.

would lvoe to try a double bob but again have issues with my stupid front door width.

Tiggywunkle · 15/11/2011 11:49

My almost new Nipper went back because the wheels had a huge wobble - more so on the right. All the Verves and Vibes I have seen have wheels like /---\ but hubby thinks it's the way they are rather than a problem.

Misdee - I can't help you - I only used the B-Dual as a tandem. Aswellasyou is probably the best person to help.

misdee · 15/11/2011 11:49

the oyster isnt actually that bad. it does look cheap admittingly, but its a good cheap bee alturnative IMO. i had one when ds was little, and it was fine. i had the horrid pearly colour though (ebay bargain) the black ones look so much better.

Tiggywunkle · 15/11/2011 11:55

I have been having a discussion re importing pushchairs. Most of us have imported one at some point because we can't buy the model in the UK. But we all fully understand that the pushchairs won't have been safety tested / approved in the UK / and the warranty may be invalidated. Hubby sees no issue for personal use. eBay has pushchairs to buy abroad but also in the UK that are imports. Any thoughts / links about this topic?

pramsgalore · 15/11/2011 11:58

it has never bothered me, as the way i look at it, the pushchair will have been safety tested to their standards which in the us, i would think would be pretty high, just not as high as ours, but then i think we go over board with everything health and safety anyway

pramsgalore · 15/11/2011 12:01

german made pushchairs are very well made, better than ours and even with all our high standards some of our pushchairs have failed big time resulting in lo getting hurt ie bee, maclaren, spin

Tiggywunkle · 15/11/2011 12:05

From what I understand - US safety testing is actually more rigorous than ours. I was told they actually take apart and test ever nut, screw and rivet. So in that respect I gave no issues. What is different though is that we seem to have very strict fire retardancy regulations.

pramsgalore · 15/11/2011 12:06

Hmm i have def come accross those, different colours on different fabrics are harder to fire retard

misdee · 15/11/2011 12:10

the difference IMO isnt that they are unsafe, just tested differently. we have different regulations and for example, bob in its current designs doesnt adhere to those. the only thing i worry about with Bob is thatthe brake bar comes down rathr fast (its spring loaded) but apply comman sense and dont let people put their hands there.

i dont have issues with importing pushchairs, but knw others do, other BOB fans in the UK know they dont meet uk regulations and are fine with it. i have never sold a bob on ebay, just to fellow pramos.

Tiggywunkle · 15/11/2011 12:29

Prams - Are you any nearer a decision???

pramsgalore · 15/11/2011 12:42
