New thread for those of us still waiting the dreadful wait. 😩

We didn't know that last Christmas was going to be our last Christmas in this house! But it was a lovely Christmas to finish on, even though we didn't know.

We've been decorating the new house this weekend, and we've also done the Christmas trees and put a lovely illuminated star on front of the house, which was a housewarming present. ⭐️

Roll on moving in day on Friday!

Why is this process so stressful?

supposed to exchange today and no one can get a hold of our solicitor or even know if she’s working in the office? Everyone’s chasing and panicking, why don’t they just pick up the phone?!

I know exactly what you mean @Rapunzel91 , we are due to complete on Wednesday and I just wish the communication was so much better than it is. Even if they had a little timeline that you could log into and check if they need anything from you or if all is looking good to go. I feel like I have constantly balanced between chasing and not wanting to be a pain in the arse in case they put us to the bottom of the pile!

Hi everyone, we’re still here hanging by a thread. Due to complete on Monday with exchange happening today, all the paperwork has been completed by us and the buyer but the buyer is yet to transfer funds so exchanged can’t happen yet 😔 the buyer is being chased today

Ooh best of luck to those hanging by a thread! I think I had one 5 minute call with my solicitor in the whole 4 month process. 4 months… it’s crazy mine was a no chain sale to a cash buyer. And I am not buying another house yet. You would have thought that was the simplest transaction ever.

I cannot wait to complete the sale on Wednesday and give them their keys. 🔑

After several days tied up in what feels like the most agonising bureaucracy ever, we've finally managed to unpick the issue with our lender's T&Cs and I've now given our solicitors authority to exchange. Don't know if we'll make it today (it was quite late in the day when we gave the nod) but hooooopefully we're almost there.

Thanks @HopefulSeller - just had a call from the solicitors to say the seller's lawyers have said too late to do it today but hopefully we'll get across the line early doors tomorrow.

Totally. I got a message from my EA today ref my sale, saying she’s thinking we should aim for early January exchange. Well yes, that’s a lovely idea, but we’ve got the survey to get through yet. There is something about this system which means you don’t ever dare to believe it’s actually going to work and that you’ll end up in the new home you at one point longed after. I seem to spend my days either daydreaming about ways to set up the new house, or trying to forget all about the new house in case it all falls through. So far things have felt quite straightforward, but you never dare to dream it won’t suddenly fall to pieces out of nowhere!

@NoWordForFluffy no!! He has signed everything and agreed a completion date of Monday, he’s being chased again today. This is absolutely ridiculous and I can barely breath I am so, so stressed out. I know where he works (he told us I’m not a crazy stalker 😅) and I genuinely feel like turning up to his work. I won’t, obviously but I’m tempted!

@MercyNursey what an absolute head f*ck. Is he a FTB? I find it extraordinary how some people have seemingly no concept of the impact of this sort of behaviour. Really hope you get some movement today!

@ibelieveinmirrorballs yeah first time buyer. I have just been in floods of tears, I am very much struggling to cope. I know it’s first world problems when people literally don’t have a roof over their heads but I have been awake most of the night. Our house is half packed as exchange is so close to completion we couldn’t really wait till exchange to start backing (and we were supposed to have exchanged by now!!). I am at work from today right up until Monday.

I know everyone has had a terrible year but we have truly had a shit year. 2 very sudden, unexpected deaths that we are struggling to get over, 3 x family members diagnosed with cancer, a very ill friend, DS has been bullied, I’ve had terrible year work wise (nurse in the NHS and feeling like I’m being crushed with pressure!)

Our house sold in August, we are moving into an empty house with no chain, he’s a first time buyer. It’s literally the shortest chain there could be and it’s not less than 3 weeks till the new year and he’s STILL pissing about. I am beyond angry and I’m on edge.

Sorry for the long post but I just don’t know what to do 😭

Oh @MercyNursey , that all sounds so shit, you deserve some good news and for your buyer to stop mucking around so you can head into a much better 2024.

We are still due to exchange and complete by tomorrow, I am so nervous that something is going to go wrong. This is an awful process and I will not be moving house again for years!

I think the whole process is so traumatising the PTSD almost makes you forget about it after it’s happened - which means you then are able to go through it again a few years later!

I'm still waiting for my funds to be transferred from my ex, his solicitor cocked up and his loan wasn't in the Barclays system! So that's set us back. We had been tentatively aiming for exchange today and completion next week, but I'm not sure that's going to happen now.

If the funds arrive today, we could potentially exchange tomorrow maybe still? The last day my solicitor will do completions is 21st December.

So I'm resigned to being here for Christmas still, my ex is moving out to his mums' for a couple of weeks. If we could exchange this year and complete early in the new year, that could still work.

The broadband is actually going in on the 18th (the sellers are happy and I've said they can use my pw) but I'll have to move the SKY TV appointment once I know our completion date.

After weeks and weeks of me asking, our solicitor finally sent me a list of documents I need to provide for my source of funds from overseas. We had provided them to the bank and I kept asking the solicitor if they need it as well to no response.
As its an extensive list and involves documents needing to be notarised and posted to me, we are now looking at early Jan. I lost my patience with the solicitor and asked WHY he hadnt replied on time.

Anyways we are.also.i. the half packed up mode, am so sick to death of the uncertainty. The next love is defo to a care home.

There is 'talk' of maybe exchanging today! But the funds haven't dropped into my ex's bank account yet so there is nothing I can do until they arrive and he transfers them over to me. He is expecting them to arrive 'today' but that could be any time....

There are still enquiries outstanding on my seller's onward purchase though so I'm glad they aren't all waiting on me in a way. If it happens tomorrow it could still work as my movers are provisionally booked for 20th....

I've got my buildings/contents insurance quote waiting I just need to push the button to get it set up.

I gave permission to go ahead with exchange today, completion tomorrow, so am now just waiting for final confirmation. Its a tense wait!

Solidarity @Floopani, @loopyloo52 - we're still waiting to hear whether we've actually bloody exchanged or not. As far as I'm aware there is absolutely no reason it shouldn't have happened, so can only assume it's just one or another of the solicitors fannying around and not confirming...
