I'm on a half day today, so 12.30 would be ideal really. I don't know where the vendor's representative is coming from to do the handover, or if he'll be there all day. No doubt I'll find out!

I was also musing whether our solicitor sets the money to go automatically this morning once it's in, or if all transactions are manual this morning. (We aren't dependent on a transaction below us to get any funds.)

I'm not sure if will hear anything else today or not, but that one stop me refreshing my email all day just in case. I think I'm going to be very nervous until we actually get the keys.

I still need to actually start packing, and am away for the weekend too, so that's not going to help. Putting stuff in a pile for a tip trip counts as packing right?

@NoWordForFluffy no developments yet,, the money should be with me Monday. I still think there are things outstanding with solicitors. I told the EA yesterday that people need to be picking up phones and not emailing and sitting back waiting for replies. If we don' exchange on Tuesday I think it'll be early in January. I said to her that I'm living in a toxic environment with an autistic child and we need to get out. The separation agreement is signed now so I've legally got until 14th January to vacate. I've packed all the decorations but I'll have to unpack them all and stick a tree up here, I'm not feeling v festive atm tbh!

Sounds like the bottom of our chain might have secured funding. Talk of completion on the 18th, but we need to request funds on Monday for that, so if they haven't got the official offer by then we can't and it'll be the in the new year. I just want to exchange at least. But after the last couple of weeks I'm not getting my hopes up at all

So the latest from me is (on advice of solicitor and DH) we should not exchange before Christmas as our onward purchase might not happen until Feb. I was thinking it was a good idea, but apparently it's best to wrap up the sale and purchase together as it gets costly in fees. Also, we could be left without anywhere to go if we commit and our sale doesn't happen. Plus storage fees, rental fees etc etc
So no excitement for me before Christmas now.
Still waiting for the survey results on the 'new' house so feel like I'm in limbo.
I feel terrible for our buyer ... but it's not our fault the old duffers in front of us withdrew from the market -- that's where we lost 4 weeks 😥

I would 100% continue with the sale - as would everyone else on here, I think!

I phoned my bank as there will be a fair bit of money hopefully 🤞 deposited in there next Wednesday. I wondered if it would go through and he just laughed and said ‘of course we would love all your money’ 🤣

If I were your buyer I’d be disappointed but this is kind of the way things go - transparency is key and I’m sure they’ll stick with you!

I had my survey done on the house I’m buying - all seems good there - and my buyers survey is finally booked in for next week. It all feels unbelievably slow moving. I’m hoping that there might be time to have some clarity about our position before everyone breaks up for Christmas.

My solicitor shared some correspondence between her and my sellers solicitors this week - good grief but their responses are snippy back. What is it with some conveyancers, who feel they have to respond to every question asked as though it was the stupidest question ever posed in the history of humanity?

Hello everyone! Longtime lurker but am getting my own chair in the waiting room now.

Our position is we are in a very short chain, mortgages all in, surgery dome, searches in, waiting for the vendors solicitors to respond to some questions.

We had our offer accepted in September and as it was a short chain of 3 with our vendor moving Into an empty property and us not needing to sell our existing house, I was.optimistic we could complete before Christmas, now am.n9t sure If we will manage to exchange. I have been chasing the solicitors and the agents have been doing the same. All the uncertainty and lack of updates is driving me crazy.

After weeks of uncertainty around timelines we finally decided to put the tree up today Santa Paws here is trying to help so it's taking for ever 😁

We're at the beginning of our process so no sense of Xmas getting in the way of anything. But it is the "last" Christmas here, which is a strange feeling. We've lived here so long some of the dc don't remember living anywhere else. Big changes ahead.

@MovingToPlan likewise last Christtmas here and while we are literally moving less than a quarter mile away, feels quite emotional. We have gone overboard with the lights definitely!

I feel that too, I’m handing over the keys this week which feels amazing. But I’m not buying right away, so in my current house over Christmas, which I’ve lived in for years. So I’ve even homemade a lovely wreath for the door, something I don’t usually do! It’s a way of saying goodbye to the old I guess…

Next Christmas me and my kids will be in a totally different house. New life.
