Considering to buy a house similar to the below. Potentially maxing our budget. What are ppl thoughts. It's all very new (too new?) worried it will be difficult to sell if we do decide to move...what would you do? Buy old and do up or go fir something all new and ready to live in...

Is there a garden?

Livelovebehappy · 29/12/2020 19:00

It’s all about your own preference. I don’t like it, but that’s not surprising as I like old, traditional, quirky, so that house would never appeal to me. i can see why it would be attractive to some people though if you’re into that style.. But to me it just looks a bit clinical, not homely and very uniform, ie all the houses alongside it look pretty much identical.

Viviennemary · 29/12/2020 19:02

It's hideous IMHO. But obviously it's a style some people must like. It will be difficult to sell.

LolaButt · 29/12/2020 19:02

Like the house. The garden looks a bit love island.

MyDiamondShoesAreTooTight · 29/12/2020 19:02

I like it but it does scream commercial premises to me!

eurochick · 29/12/2020 19:03

I love modern houses so overall I like the style. I like that it is not a mock Tudor or red brick Barrett box. I don't like the lack of any real garden and the near neighbours. With that budget you can get something better in the area imho.

Sarcobaleno · 29/12/2020 19:03

It's a tricky question because it all comes down to taste. I don't like it. If I was spending that money on a house I'd want a better garden. There's nothing special about it inside either in my view. But why ask a bunch of strangers?

cansu · 29/12/2020 19:05

I don't think this style age well. They put some similar v expensive apartments up near us. A few years on, they look rather scruffy.

Theunamedcat · 29/12/2020 19:05

Is there space for wardrobes where would you put your hoover tumble dryer etc it looks lovely but can you live in it? My last new build you could not

Raxer26A · 29/12/2020 19:05

Good looking house I like the design , layout isn't too bad but the plot is very small for the money. The views are awful full height windows so you can look at a wooden fence ?

isseys4xmastinselcats · 29/12/2020 19:07

woudnt be for me theres no seperate lounge i dislike open plan living kitchen areas , i dont like the finish of the kitchen too dark wood 1970s look for me for a house that is 1.5 million pounds that back decking is way too small for the size of family that would want a five bed house, horses for courses some people would turn their noses up at our diddy 2 bed 1940s semi

SkiingIsHeaven · 29/12/2020 19:07

I love it. Would like a bit more of a garden and greenery for that price though.

reefedsail · 29/12/2020 19:07

The house is OK, but I'd be wanting more than OK for that sort of money. The price hurts my West country eyeballs.

Frenchfancy · 29/12/2020 19:07

I dream of having a new house, I have only ever lived in old properties. But there is no way in Gods green earth I would pay 1,5 million for that, when you could get this www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/95484335#/ and have £375000 in change.

isseys4xmastinselcats · 29/12/2020 19:10

and all that glass going up the stairs sod trying to keep that pristine

Els1e · 29/12/2020 19:11

For 1.5 million, I would want better outside space. The house is ok if you like that style but doesn’t wow me.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 29/12/2020 19:13

Hideous but then I'm an old house with land kind of girl! It is so boxy and that " garden" ugh. For that money you could buy some lovely houses! This is not one of them.

HeronLanyon · 29/12/2020 19:13

The exterior is interesting. Interior so without character/clinical/show home it wouldn’t be for me.
Lack of space or garden a deal breaker for me. Looks cramped into a plot too small.
For that money I’d want quite a big plot in Plymouth !

Signalbox · 29/12/2020 19:13

I love the house but hate the decor. But that’s easy enough to change. I’m never buying a doer upper again so this would suit me just fine if I had the £££.

CottonSock · 29/12/2020 19:14

I don't think the style or build materials will age well at all.

JacobReesMogadishu · 29/12/2020 19:14

Well personally I hate it. But if you like it go for it. Is that comparable for size/garden size for other stuff in the area for that price? Because it seems extortionate....are you paying over the odds for the style? If so, is it worth it? If you had a dog, there’s nowhere for the dog to have a wee apart from on the decking.

Looks like a cross between an office and a travelodge inside.

CottonSock · 29/12/2020 19:15

Yes to the barn conversion though!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 29/12/2020 19:15

Why do new modern buildings look like they're from the 70's.

No way I'd pay that much for a bland, overlooked box with no garden space.

MaizeBlouse · 29/12/2020 19:18

Hm it'd a MASSIVE house, over 300sqm. The interior design is v griege but I think that it could be made a lot cosier with more textures and colour so that wouldn't worry me too much.

My main gripe is the lack of greenery. Those big bifolds to look out at.... a fence. Maybe it could be landscaped in a way that's less fencey? Also is there an actual lawn garden?

Don't know the area but I think it's a lot of house for a lot of money. The style isn't me at all, I like period houses but I think it could be made to look a lot less clinical with some nice interior design.

JacobReesMogadishu · 29/12/2020 19:18

You could buy thjs for less. All of which are bigger, nicer and have a garden.
