Considering to buy a house similar to the below. Potentially maxing our budget. What are ppl thoughts. It's all very new (too new?) worried it will be difficult to sell if we do decide to move...what would you do? Buy old and do up or go fir something all new and ready to live in...

I hate pretty much everything about it. Awful, unattractive, soulless, incredibly overpriced just due to a bit of flash decor and with tiny gardens - I'd want a lot more outside space for that price.

Namechangeme87 · 29/12/2020 19:37

Inside Is beaut
Outside not for me

RubyViolet · 29/12/2020 19:38

I think it’s dated already. I don’t know what you would do in the future to refurb it or restyle it. It has the look of a Nightclub during the day.
You can get much better for that money.

Gncq · 29/12/2020 19:38

It looks like an office building complex inside and out.
1.5 million???????
It's for someone with more money than sense.

Speminalium · 29/12/2020 19:38

I think you could get a bit more garden for your money round there, even for Sevenoaks prices. I'd want another reception room or two as well. Just checking OP you know about the quite extreme 11+ system in Kent? If you play the system successfully it is amazing, but it is risky and stressful. Message me if you need any advice, I was a local until recently.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 29/12/2020 19:40

No. Totally agree that it's dated already. Has it been decorated by Mrs Hinch? Awful, awful, awful.

Sarcobaleno · 29/12/2020 19:41

Not sure OP's question is really being answered. I think you'd struggle to resell that at the price you paid because it's already dated and you would struggle to add value. Apart from the fact it's a rubbish house, I don't think it would be a sensible purchase.

Mamagotskills · 29/12/2020 19:43

I hate it but it’s a very definite style and I’m sure it’d appeal to others. I like old and symmetrical, charcuterie and texture so find it quite stark and jarring.

Cleverpolly3 · 29/12/2020 19:43

I think it’s absolutely awful
Sorry you did ask

Anyone who spends they amount of money on something that looks weatherworn mixed with a prefab exterior and an interior like that is off their cake.

That other house with the huge garden on the first page of the thread is more appealing and cheaper

WeeDangerousSpike · 29/12/2020 19:45

It's nice enough, but for that money I'd want a garden with room for actual plants.
The middle bedroom on the right, there's no bathroom for them? All the bathrooms are ensuite to other bedrooms. That's a bit weird.

AfterSchoolWorry · 29/12/2020 19:46

It's not for me taste wise. But you could probably live there very happily if it were near parks and good schools.

80sColourfulChristmas · 29/12/2020 19:46

I think this will look extremely outdated in 5/10 years time. I also don't think it look very homely but that's my preference. Perhaps you love super modern and minimalistic 🤷🏼‍♀️ Plenty of people do.

Whereas I prefer homely, comforting, warm & slightly more 'lived in' country styles x

Lindy2 · 29/12/2020 19:48

I like the house. It's very modern but nice.

I don't like the garden (or lack of garden) though. It's just a series of platforms that I can't see as being very useable and could actually be quite dangerous if slippy. It's also not a garden for children.

That would put me off because for the price I'd want a lovely house and a lovely garden.

PriscillaChinchilla · 29/12/2020 19:48

£1,500,000?????
Bloody hell. No way would I pay that for that house, even if I had the money. Yuck. Sorry - I don't want to personally offend you, but you did ask. Spend your hard-earned money (£1,500,000?????) on something with a bit more character and heart.

Figgyboa · 29/12/2020 19:49

Love it! But that's my style - modern, minimalist and sleek. Backyard is the let down. Hardly any garden or green space.

Sertchgi123 · 29/12/2020 19:49

I would never buy a house where the dining room is so far from the kitchen. My idea house is where the dining area flows from the kitchen and the living room is next to the dining room, with double doors between so you can achieve an open plan area for parties.

AN85 · 29/12/2020 19:51

Not for me, kitchen looks dated, too many ensuites and small Garden. Also don’t like the furniture and decor but of course that can all be changed.

To answer your question OP, It’s not just a choice between and a new house or a house that needs to be done up. There is a middle ground.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 29/12/2020 19:51

I also agree with another pp that as a zone 2 Londoner who is used to eye-watering ridiculous house prices, £1.5million for a house with no character and no garden in Sevenoaks is just nuts!

Look at this for £200,000 less in a green and leafy London suburb link

Hailtomyteeth · 29/12/2020 19:52

Exterior is soulless. Interior has potential. Neighbours will be much like yourselves.

Chumleymouse · 29/12/2020 19:52

It has got character........ modern character.

SofieGraabol · 29/12/2020 19:52

I think you would find it hard to resell. It is right next to a rugby pitch, with the associated noise, and a primary school, with the annoying parent traffic. On the other hand, you can walk your dog on the rugby pitch when there are no games on.

Nousernameforme · 29/12/2020 19:53

I personally think it is a soulless box that wouldn't look out of place on one of those hideous you tube videos.
It won't age well and has no space outside for anything green. They've done it up to get people to look past it's flaws would you be interested if it didn't have all styling?

dieselKiller · 29/12/2020 19:54

Have you been to visit? What do you think of the location?

lockedownloretta · 29/12/2020 19:54

It's horrible.

Pugdoglife · 29/12/2020 19:55

I think it's beautiful but very expensive, the decking will look awful as it weathers, It wouldn't suit children as there would be mucky fingerprints everywhere and it's too big for just two adults.
In 5-10+ years when you want to sell it will look very dated and might be difficult to sell.
