Hiya,

Just thought it might be nice to start a thread for those of us due in May 2010. I know its only early days but I followed one of these whilst being pg with DS1 and it was invaluable.

Couldn't find one for my dates this time round (might be wrong?) so thought it would be nice to get together, share stories and follow the progress with some others in the same time-period.

I'm due 6/7 May I think. Didn't really plan to have such a short gap between DS1 and DC2 but also didn't do much to prevent it. (IYSWIM!)

Have started feeling nauseous already(!) which I can't believe as I didn't have it nearly as early as this last time round. No sickness last time and a very enjoyable pregnancy - so am hoping for the same again this time round. Slight disaster with giving birth 2 weeks early with no hospital notes or hospital bag, two hours from home and at a family funeral...(!) So am going to stay AT HOME near the end this time round. Really looking forward to giving birth again. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience last time and looking forward to hearing other peoples stories and sharing our pg's together!

Hi Jayfer
I didn't realise I had a due date buddy on the thread (pg brain strikes again obviously!) as I'm 34+5 today too....

I am very tearful/hormonal - can't remember being like this with the other three, but perhaps I was...

On top of restless legs, I now have sciatica and the insomnia has kicked in with a vengeance, so I really, really can't wait until this babe's arrival!

KateM77 · 28/03/2010 19:47

I've got my scan tomorrow to see if my placenta is still low lying - fingers crossed it's moved!

Just about to start my last week at work and I can't wait to finish. The insomnia is terrible and I'm just not coping with using my brain any more

Moving house at the end of the week too - it's all go.

Hope everyone is well

first1 · 29/03/2010 15:36

Good luck today Kate, let us know how it goes. And the house! Yay I'm so happy for you it's all happening. I have the total opposite of insomnia. I could sleep for England. I found myself contemplating curling up for a power nap in the Ford showroom this morning waiting for my MOT.

My one bit of news is that baby has turned head down for the first time in my entire pregnancy! :D

KateM77 · 29/03/2010 19:54

All good news thanks first1. Placenta has moved, baby head down and facing my back and is bang on the middle of the graphs in terms of size

Incredibly jealous of your ability to sleep!

PanicMode · 29/03/2010 20:29

Hi guys,

so glad your placenta has moved - and best of luck for the move! Enjoy the nesting and the peace before the baby arrives KateM77.

first1 - glad the baby is co-operating and heading in the right direction!

PanicMode · 05/04/2010 12:36

Hi everyone,

thought I'd see how you're all doing - am just back from the hospital after I hadn't felt the baby move for ages - but all is well, despite the trace showing decells - doctor thinks it was faulty equipment/positioning rather than anything wrong with the baby. Have some white cells in my urine, but MW not worried so fingers crossed all ok.

Hope you've all enjoyed Easter (and KateM77 hope the move has gone well!) - I've loved being able to eat lots of chocolate eggs without worrying about it too much .

first1 · 05/04/2010 14:29

Glad to hear everything is ok panicmode, it's so scary when baby decides to go quiet.

I had a trip to DAU on Saturday because I'd had a few days of horrible itching which was keeping me awake. Had blood tests for OC which thankfully came back negative but got to go back there week on Friday for repeat bloods. Apparently they continue to take them at fortnightly intervals after a negative test to be sure for the rest of the pregnancy? News to me!

I've been feeling a weird "scurrying sensation" down below. Is she trying to claw her way out?!

Scary to think we'll all have babies next month! I'm getting fed up with being pregnant though, really really wish time would go faster!

Hope the move went ok katem77

Jayfer · 05/04/2010 14:44

Hey panicmode my baby went quiet yesterday - he didn't move til 4pm and I didn't have any braxton hicks which is very odd for me. I was an hour away from calling the MW but then he started moving about. Thankfully.

Since Thursday last week I've been getting hip and pelvis pain. Now I'm struggling to walk. I'm having to resort to shuffling around, trying to walk from the knees down. Is it SPD? My arthritis has kicked off too and I'm off to hospital on Wednesday for some help. I've got three weeks to go on Thursday. Can't wait.

My BH are becoming a lot stronger too. Had my OH asking if I was ok the other night as apparently I was making 'mooing noises' whilst I was having a BH. It could be slow labour but the doc's say they won't do anything unless its regular or I'm getting other symptoms so I'm using them to practise my breathing exercises.

How is everyone else doing? Do you think I'll make it to May before the baby makes an appearance?

PanicMode · 05/04/2010 18:43

Glad all well First1 - I didn't realise they continued testing for OC even if you were clear - better to be safe though, even if it's a pain.

I'm hoping this baby arrives this month (as it's supposed to (30th), but have no idea if it will...I don't 'do' overdue - my son was only about 30 hours past his due date and I went a bit nuts!!

Jayfer - I think they're just running out of room so are moving less - sounds as though you'll beat us to it. On the A/N ward today I was a bit freaked out as there was a lady who was due the day before me (29th April) who had had her baby on Easter Day and another lady who was due the week before me who was being induced today (not sure why)....it suddenly all seems rather imminent.

Sorry to hear you're suffering with the arthritis - I have really bad sciatica which is really painful, but it comes and goes so at least I get some respite.

Roll on delivery day!!

mustbemadno3 · 09/04/2010 07:21

Hi everyone not posted on here for ages! Can't believe we are near to the end!

Jayfer I have strong bh too and practice breathing through them, the other night they were so strong I thought the real thing was happening. Anyway slept it off and was just achy next day. They haven't been so many since then. Which in one way is a relief but then another way makes me think what's happening as they have become part of my pregnancy.

I'm intrigued re blood monitoring. I've been in mau twice over last 4 weeks with infections had 2 lots of antibiotics and feeling much better now. But the consultant took bloods and said my White cell count had been high since jan so redid them. he asked if I had problems with ovaries? I said no but did have ovarian cyst at begin of pregnancy. Anyway when I saw mw last week and my results were twice as high as the last test. She rang aa and they said don't worry it's normal to have higher cell count in pregnancy? But I'm confused by the drs concerns and why dud he mention ovaries? My sister and I get tested for ovarian cancer every year due to genetic oc. But obviously I haven't been tested due to pregnancy.

Would appreciate thoughts on this as I don't want to bother gp, I seem to be there too often at the minutem. And mw is a waste of space. Preg ladies at our surgery are not even allowed her number!

Briege · 11/04/2010 06:26

Hi I've unfortunately just found this site so missed most of my pregnancy queries as im due 14th of may so just under 5 wks left. This is my first baby and was wondering when I should expect my bh any ideas?

mustbemadno3 · 12/04/2010 13:48

hi Briege - you can expect bh from quite early on. Mine started at 26 weeks, Im 36 weeks now. And I experienced them with both other children. However, lots of people dont even feel them, so think it depends on the individual.

This thread, dosnt seem to be as active as it once was, so you could alway try ante natal may babies. I go on that one quite alot too.

morethemerrier · 12/04/2010 16:21

Hi Briege, I am also due on the 14th May!

This will be my 3rd, I have two sons aged 10 and 2!

I have been having BH for some weeks now, just mild tightenings, not lasting very long but this past week I have been having quite strong ones with a bit of back pain at the same time!

But as mustbenadno3 says, you may not notice them, or have any at all!

Do you know what you are having, we don't, getting very excited now, midwife is coming on wednesday to book me in for a homebirth!

Good luck, and welcome to MN, its excellent for advice, info and support!

burmesegrumbler · 12/04/2010 16:42

Also just found this, my 1st is due 22nd May. My BH appeared 28 weeks, stronger and more frequent now, I seem to get them most at night, they don't hurt though, just a bit uncomfortable.
Just been told FH is 37cm and I am just 34 weeks, MW thinks this might be a big baby (has been saying so all along, but I am only 5ft 2" and have a small frame so thinking it's only normal I should look big). MW is sending me for GTT and a growth scan. I think she is measuring big as I am really constipated (anyone else suffering?) and I reckon I had +2 sugar in my last urine test because I have been eating so much fruit and drinking smoothies to get things moving.........Hoping all the tests say she is not a giant baby so the homebirth plan is still viable! Getting very excited about meeting the baby, I feel like have been pregnant forever!

morethemerrier · 12/04/2010 19:31

Welcome burmese!

Def with you on the constipation front, It actually makes me quite irritable as well!

I always have + sugar towards the end of my pregnancies, my last one I actually had FOUR GTT's and it never amounted to anything, it's now just thought that my body just does that towards the end!

Hopefully, yours will be as a result of your fruit and your small size! Best to get it checked though!

Are you planning a waterbirth at home? I have just bought my birthing pool, its huge!

Theres a first time homebirth thread in the childbirth forum, lots of support and inspiring homebirth stories, make sure you pop in and have a look, you can add yourself to the due date list!

Good luck x

mustbemadno3 · 12/04/2010 21:38

Burmesegrumbler yes I feel i've been preggers forever. Baby feels so low I can't walk properly which is very frustrating!
Can't wait for the birth to be over 3 people I know have just had babies and I want mine to hopefully arrive quickly and safely!
I'm struggling with names the 2 I had have been used by 1 out of the 3 babys just been born!

Briege · 13/04/2010 16:11

Thanx guys, I'm having a girl I couldn't wait to find out! Although the daddy doesn't want to know so it's been hard keeping it from him.
I was starting to think that there might be something wrong with me that I haven't had any bh but hopefully I'm just one of the lucky ones only time will tell I guess. Good luck with the home brith morethemerrier I'm not that brave just yet maybe nxt time. I Really like the idea of a water birth though

burmesegrumbler · 13/04/2010 20:20

Thanks morethemerrier, my GTT is tomorrow, not so worried now.

Will check out the home birth thread you recommended.

I am planning to use a birth pool, but not set on giving birth in birth in the water, I just want the option and the natural pain relief - my MW said birthpoolinabox do two sizes, I think I should go for the small one as our bedroom isn't huge. Holding off buying it until I have had the GTT and growth scan, just incase.....is it normal for the baby to be engaged this early, I'm only 34+4?

x

morethemerrier · 13/04/2010 20:40

Sounds like a good plan Burmese! Mine is the birth in a box one, very sturdy sides for leaning against!

Def normal to be engaged earlier with a first baby, its a good thing heading in the right direction and doesn't necessarily mean baby will come early!

Good luck with the GTT tommorow, sure it will be fine! Let us know how you get on x

morethemerrier · 13/04/2010 21:14

Hi Briege, not sure about being brave, but my last labour was just three hours and I went from 6-10cms when my waters broke which took the midwife by surprise!

She had spent the previous hour telling me nothing much was happening! So when DS2 shot out with two pushes there was no time to get a second midwife in the room!

Hoping for a more relaxing climax this time at home, fingers crossed!

Congrats on your pink bump!
Dont know how you manage to keep it a surprise though I would be hopeless!

The water is supposed to be a great natural pain reliever, so def looking forward to that! Have you got the option of waterbirth at your hospital?

Madigan · 14/04/2010 09:01

Hello ladies, can I join you for these last few weeks? I am 35 weeks today with DC3, and elcs booked for 10 May ...............
know from experience that these last weeks can drag, so would be grateful for some company xx

millingtonsmummy · 14/04/2010 14:36

Hi ladies,

Can I join you too? 37 weeks today with DC2.

morethemerrier - I'm very interested to follow your experiences. I too had a 3 hour labour with DD1 and a fantastic water birth. It has been joked that I'm going to sneeze this one out ... only I'm not laughing very hard about that anymore

I have such a mixture of emotions at the moment, can't wait to meet the new baby but I'm having an easy ride in this pregnancy and actually quite enjoy the attention of being the one about to have her baby iykwim. Also feeling sad that these are the last few weeks of it just being me and DD, I'm adoring our cuddles and special times and wish I could do more to prepare her for the shock of a sibling entering her world!

morethemerrier · 14/04/2010 16:16

Hi Madigan! Congrats on DC3, do you know what your are having? I've got two boys but am looking forward to meeting DC3! And finding out if I am on my way to a five-a-side team or evening up the male to female ratio in our house!

I know what you mean about the last few weeks, but I totally agree with millingtonsmummy, I also love the general excitement/attention of approaching the end!

How old are your other two DC? Are they excited, my youngest (2yrs) is a bit freaked out by my bump, but has just started asking if the babies coming out,"in a minute"! So think he is finally understanding that we are going to have a new baby! [

millingtonsmummy, welcome! That's some record for a first birth!

Are you planning a homebirth this time?

I am actually a little bit sad as I love being pregnant, but cant wait to meet our new arrival, DS2 will also have a shock, how old is your DD?

Madigan · 14/04/2010 17:57

Hello Morethemerrier and Millingtonsmummy -

I have 2 DDs - my eldest is 2 and my youngest has just had her 1st birthday ... yikes! We are going to have our hands full here ....... don't know what we are having yet either! Funny, because my 2yo keeps asking if baby is coming "in a minute" as well, and keeps announcing that she thinks its a boy! Goodness knows what my little one will make of it all - she is not walking yet, and I am praying that she will start by the time of the baby's birth ............

I do not mind being pregnant, but looking forward to being slim(mer), drinking wine and riding horses (my passion in life, apart from DH and DC obviously) again. At the mo, feeling very tired and suffer with heartburn at night - but on the whole it has been an easy pregnancy.

Where are you having your babies, and what are your due dates?
Have you packed your hospital bags yet (if you are going to hospital ...) - I have not yet, but think had better crack on soon ........

KateM77 · 14/04/2010 20:20

Hi Ladies, long time no speak. Thanks for all the messages, the move went very smoothly thanks and broadband is now finally connected

Have transferred to new midwife already and have had first NCT class so feel a little more equipped to deal with labour now. Just need to check out where on earth the new hospital is now!

Pregnancy going well still and all OK other than swollen feet and ankles. No BH for me yet, but I'm now 36 + 4 and I guess baby could arrive any day now, so hospital bags are packed and ready. Hoping it'll hang on until I've finished painting the nursery - half done already
