Hiya,

Just thought it might be nice to start a thread for those of us due in May 2010. I know its only early days but I followed one of these whilst being pg with DS1 and it was invaluable.

Couldn't find one for my dates this time round (might be wrong?) so thought it would be nice to get together, share stories and follow the progress with some others in the same time-period.

I'm due 6/7 May I think. Didn't really plan to have such a short gap between DS1 and DC2 but also didn't do much to prevent it. (IYSWIM!)

Have started feeling nauseous already(!) which I can't believe as I didn't have it nearly as early as this last time round. No sickness last time and a very enjoyable pregnancy - so am hoping for the same again this time round. Slight disaster with giving birth 2 weeks early with no hospital notes or hospital bag, two hours from home and at a family funeral...(!) So am going to stay AT HOME near the end this time round. Really looking forward to giving birth again. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience last time and looking forward to hearing other peoples stories and sharing our pg's together!

xxx

Morning all...

rosyred

I haven't heard anything on my email and a few seem to have gone astray recently so I think it may not be working properly...

Was wondering whether you'd contacted me or not?

You should be able to contact me on MN if you want to send me a message with your contact details for the pictures?

newmomma. Hi just tried to e-mail you butis was returned saying mailbox is full.
my e-mail is [email protected].

first1 · 02/03/2010 12:59

Kate, so sorry about the house. It took us months to sort this place out and it was incredibly stressful so to have an unneccessary hiccup I can only sympathise, especially at this time. The bank should know not to mess with a hormonal pregnant woman! I'm sure you'll sort everything soon.

I'm already getting fed up to be honest, I wish time would speed up, think I'm over this pregnancy lark already!

newmomma · 02/03/2010 16:26

Agreed! first1

Ten weeks to go - seems like a LONG time to me!
I'm hoping no.2 comes early like no.1

Thanks everyone for the sympathy...there is a glimmer of hope. Had a long appointment at a different bank this morning and it seems like they can push everything through pretty quickly. May only be a delay of about 10 days. Keeping everything crossed....and despite being equally fed up with being pregnant as the rest of you, I'm hoping baby does NOT arrive early

Kazmog · 10/03/2010 15:48

Dear all, Sadly I am having to leave the group but good luck with all of your pregnancies and babies.

first1 · 10/03/2010 18:16

Kazmog I don't know your situation but I'm so sorry and am sending you lots of luck and best wishes for the future

ande · 10/03/2010 18:46

Kazmog Are you alright? Whatever has happened I'm sending you a big hug for it. X

Kazmog · 11/03/2010 15:26

Hello, I don't want to scare you all as I am told that we were just very unlucky. I noticed reduced kicking and went to the hospital for a listen in and they discovered that my baby had passed away. I won't go into details as I don't want to scare anyone. The hospital was brillant and I have had great care following the birth. Good luck to you all and thank you for your kind wishes xxx

ande · 11/03/2010 18:48

Kasmog I am so sorry for you and yours loss. My thoughts are with you. Take good care of yourself.
x

PanicMode · 12/03/2010 09:06

Kazmog · 13/03/2010 13:11

Many thanks for your kind messages and good luck with all of your pregnancies kx

first1 · 21/03/2010 14:29

I feel dreadful continuing on here after kazmog's sad news, but thought I'd pop on to see how others are getting on? I have the shittiest cough and cold right now. I would so love to down a bottle of beechams - lockets and paracetamol are such crap substitutes! Still, another week has gone by. Are you all being seen by MW/GP fortnightly now?

peachybums · 21/03/2010 15:05

Hi, know its getting on now but ive just seen this thread and thought id say hello! Hope its not too late to join in? Im due 2nd May with baby number 3 so not long now.

Jayfer · 21/03/2010 18:15

I saw the mw last week (now seeing them every 2wks) and came out quite deflated. We were discussing my birth plan and she really didn't seem to understand my concerns.
I have a medical condition which makes me extremely fatigued and I'm really worried that during labour I'm going to get so tired I won't be able to cope, either at the time or be able to look after the baby afterwards.
The mw didn't really get it saying that everyone gets tired in labour and they won't do anything unless the baby is in distress (she also said they only use gas and air at the end of the labour, which is rubbish isn't it?).

Its made me worry quite a lot but then again I know I've become quite fretful and hormonal recently!

first1 · 22/03/2010 13:02

Only gas and air towards the end!? REALLY!? I planned on starting with that and tens and then taking heavier stuff after, not the other way around?! That's a question for the MW!

Sorry to hear about your MW's reaction jayfer she doesn't sound too understanding. Do you have an idea of what measures you'd like the medical team to take for you? I'm asthmatic and really worried about an attack in labour, so I spoke to both my chest consultant and obstetrician about my fears and they told me of the protocols they have in place already like steriod injections being available in the labour room etc, but also took my own concerns on board and assured me that the chest team would be contactable on a bleep if need be. All of this will be written in my notes in red as well as in my birthplan.

Is there someone else who manages your treatment for your condition other than the MW at the moment? Can you arrange an apointment with them to discuss your fears? I felt dramatically more comfortable after offloading mine. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Hi peachybums! Congrats on DC3. Do you know what you're having? My first baby (a girl) is due on 17th May. 8 weeks and soo excited!

Jayfer · 22/03/2010 13:20

I had already discussed this with my consultant who was very reassuring but this MW poo-poo'd him. 'He's a man what does he know' is what she said - I think he probably knows more than she does with regard to my condition!
I told my sister (she's had 2 boys) what she said and she asked if she was even a MW!?! I think what she said was a load of rubbish. So I'm thankful that I had my BP taken and heard the baby's heartbeat and I'm discounting the rest of the meeting!

First1 - how are you doing? Did you sort out your waters problem? (It was you wasn't it? My brain is mushy)

Only 5 and a half weeks to go - can't wait!

first1 · 22/03/2010 13:33

Oh dear, is she your regular MW? Can you bypass her for the next appointments?! It was me with the waters issue, yup! Thankfully they're still in tact but I'm glad I got it checked. Felt a bit fobbed off though with "oh it could be hormones, possibly stress incontinence (got a bad cough atm), possible thrush".

wibblela · 22/03/2010 17:07

Hiya everybody

It's nice to hear everybody's news

I can't quite get my head round the fact that we'll be having our babies really soon I am 32+4 today - 7 and half weeks to go I have and am enjoying being pregnant, but looking forward to meeting Wibblet It's nice now that I have an excuse for being fat I think the Multiple Sclerosis has been good training for being pregnant - the fatigue and continuous peeing for example were already present.

I am currently compiling a list for my hospital bag - what would you guys recommend?

KateM77 · 22/03/2010 20:03

Hi everyone

All going well with the pregnancy for me. My back problems have flared up as expected and I'm struggling to sleep at the moment, but otherwise think I've got off quite lightly! Very much looking forward to finishing work now so that I can sleep when I want and don't have to use my brain - only 8 more working days to go!

We finally got our house sorted. Exchanged contracts last week and complete on 31st. Will move over Easter weekend and then need to transfer everything medically ASAP - due date is 8th May so I'm hoping baby isn't too early

CoffeeAndCarrotCake · 23/03/2010 12:13

Hi All - after joining one of these Due In... threads too early last time, I'm rather tentatively going to join this one and hopefully go the distance this time! Expecting DD2 in 8 weeks - where has the time gone?! I was worried at first how different I felt with DD1 to this time around, but I guess with a toddler to look after (and a job to go to), you simply don't have the time or mental capacity to devote to thinking about the new baby to the same extent that you do with your first. Plus I'm trying not to let DD1 think I'm too pre-occupied with no.2 in case she starts to resent it before it has even arrived. Parenthood really is a constant balancing act isn't it?!

Anyway, looking forward to going the last few weeks with you all

PanicMode · 23/03/2010 13:27

Hi Kate - FAB news on the house, congratulations!! I moved late on in my third pg and it was all very easy....

Hello to the thread joiners .

Not long to go for us all now...I am 34+4 today and cannot wait for this baby to make an appearance...the elder three aren't so sure as I keep saying things like "well, when the new baby is here, you'll have to be a bit more patient..." and my toddler has suddenly developed an aversion to walking and is demanding to be carried everywhere - the school run is quite fun - he's usually SCREAMING his head off because I've strapped him in the buggy and DS1 and DD are trying to make themselves heard over the top!!

The good news is that I have discovered that bouncing on a birthing ball in the evening really helps relieve my restless legs symptoms - hurrah!

first1 · 23/03/2010 13:44

Great news Kate

Welcome coffeeandcarrotcake

wibblela I waddled round the shops on Saturday in search of things for my hospital bag, but got restless after about an hour, so I can see this taking multiple shopping trips! But my list, though not finite, is as follows:

nighties
pjs
towels (for me and baby)
maternity pads
disposable knickers
old knickers
AND good knickers!
nursing bras
cotton dressing gown (been told the labour ward is a sauna)
slippers (also been told to avoid flipflop style ones in case of slips!)
socks
bag of toiletries (makeup if I can be arsed!)
tracky bums/ tshirt/uggs for home
baby sleepsuits
cardis
scratch mits
vests
hats
nappies
nappy sacks
wipes
cotton buds
change of clothes/ toiletries for DH
magazines
pack of cards
Ipod
camera AND charger AND spare batteries!
portable dvd player - including Rachel's labour episode in Friends and Only Fools and Horses labour episode - maybe comedy will get me through!
Phone charger
Spare change
bottle of squash
snacks

Umm...what else do people recommend?

Jayfer · 23/03/2010 14:35

first 1 - she's not my regular MW, I don't have a 'regular' one as the one I'm meant to see has been away ill since the booking appt! There's a small chance that the one I saw last week will be there for the birth but then I will request a different lady.

I'm 34+5 today and been finding that as well as low back ache I've been really really hormonal! Is it just me? I've also started with a arthritis flare so I'm struggling a bit.

How is everyone else fairing?
