Hiya,

Just thought it might be nice to start a thread for those of us due in May 2010. I know its only early days but I followed one of these whilst being pg with DS1 and it was invaluable.

Couldn't find one for my dates this time round (might be wrong?) so thought it would be nice to get together, share stories and follow the progress with some others in the same time-period.

I'm due 6/7 May I think. Didn't really plan to have such a short gap between DS1 and DC2 but also didn't do much to prevent it. (IYSWIM!)

Have started feeling nauseous already(!) which I can't believe as I didn't have it nearly as early as this last time round. No sickness last time and a very enjoyable pregnancy - so am hoping for the same again this time round. Slight disaster with giving birth 2 weeks early with no hospital notes or hospital bag, two hours from home and at a family funeral...(!) So am going to stay AT HOME near the end this time round. Really looking forward to giving birth again. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience last time and looking forward to hearing other peoples stories and sharing our pg's together!

Think I'm in labour - have called my parents, have had a minor show, contractions now about 5 mins apart although not lasting too long, but starting to get painful....hoping my parents get here before I have to ask a neighbour to look after the littlies.....

Fingers crossed anyway -hoping it doesn't all stop as soon as they get here!

KateM77 · 18/04/2010 20:01

Baby boy (as yet unnamed!) was born last night at 8pm, 20 mins after arriving at hospital, no time for any pain relief at all!! He is the smallest of the four weighing 7lbs 8, and is perfect!

Best of luck to everyone else waiting. Kate, hope you are also holding your new bundle!

Just got my scan and GTT results, scan fine, if anything baby slightly small (but in the normal range) as am I (5'2"), so not worried about that.

However the GTT showed raised levels, I have an appointment with the consultant next Thursday, when I will be 36+6, should I be concerned? I am planning a home birth - will this mean they advise I use the labour ward instead - even if the baby isn't looking massive on the scan?

I eat really well, loads of fresh fruit and veg, no cakes or biscuits or fizzy drinks, just the odd little piece of dark chocolate. I go to yoga three times a week and walk to work and back every day (20 mins each way) and haven't filled out over the course of the pregnancy - I just don't understand why I have raised blood sugar.

Anyone else been told about possible diabetes this late on? Any advice?

EdenJayne · 22/04/2010 12:46

blondewithbump · 25/04/2010 15:55

hello everyone, I haven't been on here very long and have just found this thread. I'm due 25th May with my first baby, a little girl. Getting a bit uncomfortable now after having a really easy first 8 months so can't complain, I have loved it! Hello and good luck to everyone else having their May babies!

first1 · 25/04/2010 17:33

Hi blondewithbump! I'm also due my first baby, a little girl too, on 17th May. 37weeks tomorrow, and sooo uncomfortable and bored of being pregnant! Roll on these last few weeks

KateM77 · 25/04/2010 22:44

Hi ladies. Finally home from hospital having been thrown into parenthood at the deep end. Have had a long and traumatic week, but thankfully all OK now and it's so good to be home

Jessica Grace was born at 6.01am on Tues 20th. All was well on Tues and we were due to be discharged Weds. Unfortunately she then stopped feeding and was admitted to the special care unit with fears that she had an infection.

She underwent various blood tests and a lumbar puncture and was put on antibiotics and a fluid drip for 48 hours before the results came back clear. She had to be fed through a tube for a while with my expressed milk because she was too sleepy to breastfeed. She was given phototherapy for jaundice and this lead to her getting her energy back and resuming feeding from me rather than the tube. Once the hospital were satisfied the jaundice was improving and feeding was established we were finally allowed home.

It's been one hell of a week, but the staff at the hospital were all fantastic and we're now looking forward to life at home with our beautiful little girl.

Good luck to you all and hope things go more to plan for each of you!

Oh, and congrats to PanicMode

morethemerrier · 25/04/2010 23:16

Congrats Kate! Sorry to hear about the events following but very pleased you are both home safe and well!

Take care x

Madigan · 26/04/2010 08:54

Congratulations Kate, and lots of love to little Jessica Grace. What a traumatic start, but glad you are now home safe and well.

If it is at all reassuring - we were in hospital with our DD2 when she was 5 days old for all the same tests etc. (including 4 lumbar punctures............. I could cry when I think about it) - but she made a full recovery, and has never had any problems since (now 13 months).

So, now you are home safe and well, you can RELAX and enjoy your beautiful baby. xxxx

Madigan · 26/04/2010 08:57

Ok .... I need to share a list of minor complaints, and wonder if anyone else in v late stages of pregnancy suffering with any of these ..............? Hate feeling I am on my own!!!!!!!

  1. Crippling insomnia - I get about 4 hours a night. Seem to be surviving, but boy am I tired.
  1. Waking up with a completely dry mouth and a vile taste in my mouth - what is that all about?
  1. Loo trips every 1/2 hour (at least). Boring.
  1. Cold after cold after sore throat after cold etc. Have been on antibiotics numerous times (happens in all my pregnancies) and now I have a sore throat I just cannot shift.

anyone else?
