I was going to name change but I can't be bothered.

I want to know what your first symptoms were when you got pregnant, the little things that made you suspect. Or even the things you couldn't explain but made sense later.

I'm asking because I have a couple of things going on that I'm a bit embarrassed about. If I am pregnant it will be a miracle but part of me will be disappointed if I'm not!

Reading this makes me think maybe I should test.
I am on CD 45 after coming off the pill so assume I am waiting for a proper AF to arrive.
Mi didn't think I have had any symptoms but reading these I am:

Overly forgetful
Emotional yet really happy
Tired
Don't like he taste of wine anymore
Pain in my shoulder/neck

fourthandfinal · 15/08/2014 22:07

Not wanting chocolate (eh??), putting salt on everything and craving salty foods. And with #4, I could feel it by my pubic bone when I washed myself before anything else.

smogsville · 15/08/2014 22:15

Very cross, picking fights.
Sore boobs.
Mild nausea that's now worn off after a week.
Weird little hairs on boobs.
CM which I never get when ovving.
Exhausted.
Desperate for tea all the time.
Can't really remember what it was like with DD, I did have some spotting but probably further along. Didn't know about symptoms or dates then.

TremoloGreen · 15/08/2014 22:22

Very moody, very tired and starving all the time - from the time my period was due
Also, weird smells. I went into Superdrug and the whole place smelt really strongly of nail polish remover - I had to leave before I threw up!

ChickenMe · 15/08/2014 23:19

I had an idea I was but I didn't dare to believe it. It was the extreme tiredness when I would've been three to four weeks. Plus my boobs hurt but in a different way - worse than before my period like usual. And weird twinges in the uterus. But mainly the tiredness-I felt so tired I could cry.

SurfBoredCat · 15/08/2014 23:47

I knew at 2-3 weeks pg for all three pregnancies. For DC2/3 the first sign was not being able to have a hot shower, only lukewarm, as it felt far to hot otherwise.

LAB123 · 16/08/2014 07:50

I knew I was pregnant about 2 days after conceiving. Had really sore breasts and they seemed to swell as well. Also had watery spotting after sex. Had to wait 2 weeks for pregnancy test to work but I was right. DD now 4 weeks old Smile

TeaandCake · 16/08/2014 09:11

Metallic taste in my mouth. Prompted a pg test all 3 times and v accurate for me.

V greasy hair and skin

Also (weirdly) excessive ear wax.

smogsville · 16/08/2014 12:08

The other thing which makes me think conception date was probably around day 16 of cycle is five days later I had my usual dental hygienist appointment and felt like I'd done five rounds with mike Tyson. Usually the odd twinge/ tender gums but this was excruciating, loads of blood etc. the poor woman was quite taken aback! Didn't dare to believe it at the time but I did wonder.
Also massive spots like spaceships landed on one cheek and hair seems greasier than usual.
On Thursday I left my wallet at the doctors. Baby brain setting in very very early.

Y0rkshirePudding · 16/08/2014 13:14

Morning sickness - any time of day
Bigger boobs - Im as flat as an ironing board up there so this was highly unusual
An insane appetite - I just wanted to eat and eat and eat! The hunger pains never went away, it was awful. I have never been much of an eater tbh, can quite happily go for hours forgetting to eat. But not when I was pregnant, I couldn't stop thinking about food
A very sensitive and heightened sense of smell - bad smells literally made me vomit because they smelled so strong and toxic
A pure hatred for anything pig! - bacon & sausage being the worst. I would barf as soon as I smelt it, or even thought about the taste of it
Cravings for all things pickled - most days for my lunch at work I'd just pack a whole Tupperware range full of different pickled items
Weird food combinations - I lusted after caramel wafers teamed with lumps of cheddar cheese
A higher sex drive
Gas - so embarrassing!
Awful skin - greasy and spotty in places, but also dry and flaky in other places. Was weird. And a real sallow tone. I constantly looked really ill
Limp hair - my baby just drained me of every mineral, nutrient and vitamin and left me with nothing! I looked shocking, like the living dead!
A massive arse - I have always had a rather round bottom, but in pregnancy it just got HUUUUGE almost instantly! Never got a single stretchmark anywhere else, but my poor backside is now covered in them as a result of my mahusive pregnancy-arse

Absolutely adore my DS, he's absolutely beautiful... but my god I hated being pregnant!

JaffaSnaffle · 16/08/2014 13:14

I felt vaguely carsick and utterly turned off at the thought of eating meat when someone mentioned a barbecue on holiday. I remember walking into the little village shop and scanning the aisles until I saw some tinned fruit cockail and thinking, 'I'll eat this while they have the sausages'. Didn't twig, found out I was pregnant a week later when I missed my period.

VisualiseAHorse · 16/08/2014 13:42

A metallic taste in my mouth, and the feeling I had a hair at the back of my throat. Told my mum the above, and she said "I bet you're pregnant!" Ten days later, BFP!

Am currently TTC again, and had a horrible taste in my mouth again yesterday. Fingers crossed...

MumBoots · 16/08/2014 13:52

I didnt get early symptoms, like before my period was due.

With DC1 my period was late. I tested twice in that week after it was due and had negative results. Didnt feel any different, but didnt have PMT, which was unusual for me. It was our first month TTC, so wasnta holding out hope and wasnt really that bothered. About 10 days past my period due date, I went into a pub (days when you could smoke) ordered a G&T and lit a fag. I retched so hard at the taste of alcohol/smell of the cigarette that a lightbulb went off in my head. Tested that night and got a stonking great BFP.

DC2 my period was due while we were on a weekend break, but hadnt come by the Monday we came home. I had classic PMT symptoms - hungry, grumpy, aching tum/lower back etc - so didnt think I could be pregnant. On the drive back to London I suddenly had to tell DH to pull over so I could be violently sick out the window. Tested the following day and got a BFP.

VisualiseAHorse · 16/08/2014 15:20

Mabelbabel
I didn't want to eat a Creme Egg. But I ate it anyway.

I do that all the time.

AverageMom · 16/08/2014 16:04

Really weird - my front tooth was pure agony. It was constant for a week before I knew, then came and went throughout the preg and I haven't had it since!

I also wanted crisps. First thing in the morning. Colleagues clocked it before I did... Blush

couldthisbeit · 16/08/2014 19:59

I had the nose of a bloodhound - smelt someone's real lemonade as they opened it from about 20 desks away in an open plan office about a week before I tested. Then saw an ad for Heinz tomato soup, had to have it then and there, sending DP out in the winter night. Hadn't eaten it since I was a child, hated it then, and haven't eaten it since i gave birth.
Sense of smell continued until about 22 weeks with both pregnancies, hated other commuters with a vengeance for their variety of smells!

PulsesARagingEyesFullofWonder · 16/08/2014 21:34

I didn't know I was pregnant the first time, but I was just soooooo soooooo tired.
I was on a walking holiday, and had been fine until the final 2 or 3 days.
By the time we got to the final day, I sat down in a field, and went to sleep!! Just like that.
But I just assumed I was tired from the trip.
Coming home on the train, my legs ached.
Again, I just assumed it was all the walking. But they hadn't ached the rest of the week. And nothing relieved the aching.

The second and third times: I just knew. Sorry. I honestly did.
Not helpful, I know....

ToAvoidConversation · 17/08/2014 04:45

First few days:

  1. Sore boobs
  2. Really upset stomach- couldn't get off the loo
  3. Cigarette smoke making me gag something awful

I was on holiday though so didn't do a test until 3 days later. It was the last symptom that really made me twig though!

sugarhoops · 17/08/2014 15:42

Two days before period was due: sudden dizzy spells, faint period cramps (presumably implantation?), upset tummy. I just knew I was pregnant, and I was right, all 3 times!

BigBirthdayGloom · 17/08/2014 18:48

If you don't count the ludicrously early tests I did which came back positive at least a week before period due with dd2 (dc3) and five days before with the other two, then with the first it was 8 weeks before nausea and tiredness, but almost as soon as conception had happened (which I can time pretty precisely because we had iui to conceive all three).

Sootgremlin · 17/08/2014 20:02

Both times declaring the wine I was drinking must be off and saying I wish I hadn't drunk it.

In any other circumstances, I do not regret wine.

doubleshotespresso · 17/08/2014 20:23

Completely overwhelming nausea
Could not face coffee which I normally love
EVERYTHING smelt awful!

fluffybunnies246 · 17/08/2014 21:43

I couldn't stand the smell of my husband. Not his aftershave, shower gel, or deodorant. Just his...smell. I wouldn't usually have been able to put a particular 'smell' on him apart from shower gel/after shave but the natural smell of his skin was overpowering over anything else and made me nauseous. For about 3 months. This made many avenues of life difficult to say the least!

lg57 · 17/08/2014 22:04

With my first I was nearly 10 weeks pregnant before I did a test. The only symptom I had was sore boobs and period like symptoms. (Which were obv implantation/stretching pains! ) With my 2nd I had terrible back ache from about 4 wks pregnant. I also had cravings for hot chocolate and steak/raw meat. I had a funny perfume lije taste in my mouth, not metallic
That was later on, an lasted until about 8 months after I'd had him. Sad

sheldor · 21/08/2014 04:37
