How did you know you were pregnant?

I was going to name change but I can't be bothered.

I want to know what your first symptoms were when you got pregnant, the little things that made you suspect. Or even the things you couldn't explain but made sense later.

I'm asking because I have a couple of things going on that I'm a bit embarrassed about. If I am pregnant it will be a miracle but part of me will be disappointed if I'm not!

Painful tender massive boobs! Nipples that would poke your eyes out!

Knowing when I HAD to eat

Increased sense of smell

Funny pains in belly

Slight sickness

Well that's how I feel now - 5 weeks gone!

Dreamt both times that I was then took the test and realised I really was! Spooky. Each time we had only been TTC for less than a month so I'm just a lucky girl. Are you feeling ill then? Just do one of those early tests it's the only way!

...Again bigger boobs and I am pancake chested lol. I was also really whacked, being a bit of an exercise freak, I couldn't understand where my energy had gone.

I had a feeling that I maybe preg but had two
false negative pregnancy tests. The first I realised was out of date, the second I took with a nurse at my gp surgery. I was told recheck in two weeks as pregnancy hormones can take longer to show in some womens urine.

A week later, I couldn't stand it anymore and bought another test on Sunday. I took it alone in my bathroom, thinkin if I'm not preg then I've no idea what is wrong with me. It shot straight to positive. Despite my suspicions I was aghast , went into my bedroom and rang my boyfriend of two months-yes two months!!

I did another test the next day to be sure, definitely positive.

About two weeks later the sickness started, it has only just finished (I hope, been a rough ride@times) I am now 31.5/40, I can't wait to meet my baby ..

I only have about 50p until payday next week so can't get a test and don't want to tell DP.

I've had a dry furry tongue for a few days and a metallic taste in my mouth (it's gone now) and I smell different "down there" perhaps it's just that I don't usually notice but I thought I was smelling slightly sweet but none of you have mentioned that.

I've also been thinking about being pregnant quite a lot and my belly felt weird last week.

It might be just to do with my diet and exercise I've been doing.

First time, didn't know i was pg until 11 weeks- but then the fact i had gone off alcohol and coffee, and felt tired all the time, made sense.
Second time, sick almost from conception- everything seemed to make me nauseous (but that time i had been ttc so kind of guessed)

My boobs have NEVER got bigger- (but they are an ok size to start with!)

Nipples felt like they had electric currents going through them (esp 2nd time - I'd only just stopped bf), increased sense of smell and very weird, vivid dreams.

I suspected the first time and did test on period due date, the second time I knew and did test three days before due date. Both were very clear BFPs!

OP - the early response tests (you can get in Boots) will let you know if you are pregs up to 5 days before you're due on.

Ido think the down there smell is a thing though. The metallic taste definitely is. Won't your dp be happy if you are then?

We both want kids, but we're a bit skint so no DP won't be unhappy (I hope) it's just not what we planned!

And it'll be a miracle because I'm on the pill, have PCOS and hardly ever have sex!

Really bad explosive diarrhoea about 3 days after conception. Followed by the most horrendous RAGE like major PMT about 1 week after conception. Then sore boobs, extreme tiredness and feeling weird. (More weird than usual LOL).

Oh yes sense of smell - very acute usually but mega overdrive when pg - the smell of myself makes me feel sick when pg and the smell of my pee or t'other - bleurgh!

Metallic taste in mouth with smelly breath was one of mine, bought tongue scrapper, gum, couldn't shift it .
Needed to loo loads, but when I went was confused as to why I didn't wee much.

I was rather a creature of habit at work and never went to the loo for a wee at work before lunchtime.

Suddenly, about a week or 10 days after conception, just before my period should have been due I couldn't manage to make it until lunchtime any more. I had to go at 11ish and then again at lunchtime. Made me wonder at the time and turns out I was right.

Smells - normally nice smells smelt horrible. This time, my memory went overnight! Oh and 'the rage' here too, just before my period didn't arrive.

Tender boobs worse than normal PMT sort of tenderness a week or so before period was due.
A feeling I was pregnant. While TTC I knew the result before it shows, both pos and neg.

You lot are feeding my obsession I was determind to be chilled and not symptom spot this cycle, then my boobs got unusually large and sore and I'm off on the rollercoaster again !

3 times, my earliest sign has been a mild dose of thrush - apparently caused by changing hormones ..

joolsiam. I was going to be chilled and not symptom spotting either when ttc for dd2 (3mo), but it's just so hard not to, isn't it. In the end I became obsessed with the not being obsessed .

Sounds about right I think I may have to resort to sticking my head in the sand till Tuesday . Trouble is, it doesn't end there - head will then have to return to the sand or I'll have to have a temporary lobotomy till I get past 12 weeks - a milestone I've yet to reach ....

Definitely massive increase sense of smell. Newspaper and magazine print suddenly overpowering. All kitchen smells made me feel sick way before AF due.

Tingling nipples - first symptom.

yellow around eyes (why?? - I thought I had hepatitis or something!)

More tired than usual, more weeing than normal.

Couldn't stand tea or coffee.

Nausea, nausea & more nausea.

I had a craving for gherkins.

Really, I was only due my period that day and I said to DH that I felt a bit queasy and I wanted gherkins.

He told me that I was being ridiculous and that I was imagining things.

oh god this thread is very timely for me... feeling v nauseous and hoping am not pg again as only just gave birth 4 months ago. We had sex without anything because I am ebf but then my period came on... but then we did it again stupidly by accident.
Am feeling v worried as another baby would be madness at the moment

Ooh I feel quite nostalgic thinking about this! I felt bloated and then my digestion slowed horrifically and I didn't poo for days!
