Morning All

For those of us who graduated from the November ttc bus, or any other ladies who are expecting in November, I thought it might be nice to have a thread where we can moan and groan to our hearts content!!

Hop on and chat away - if you're like us, then nobody in RL will be told for a while so I need someone to talk things through with!!

Anyone else want to join?

Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone had a good Sunday. I have been busy sorting out my filing cabinet, had so many bits of paper and I could barely open the drawers without things falling out. Just finished and I feel knackered.

As you all know this is my first pregnancy and I am really not sure what to expect, I have a dull ache in my lower back and feels like period pains, is this normal or should i be worried. I have had the odd twinge in the sides - ovaries i think.

Also, Bit early to tell i know, but I think I'm going to have twins, only because dh's dad was a twin and I know that it will be just my luck.

Hobnob, I think I'm due 15/11 ish.

ursigurke · 08/03/2009 22:07

AileenF1 - I had light "period pain" in the 3th to 5th week, most of the time just in my right side (I think I literally felt the egg cell moving down the tube and settling in the uterus) and my gynaecologist back in Austria told me to take magnesium against the cramps. I've decided not to take a supplement but to eat lots of bananas instead, it seems to work so far.

hobnob57 · 08/03/2009 22:38

Hi Aileen,
I just wish I'd found MN when I was in your boat - I had SO many questions and no friends to ask! Your lower abdominals do a lot of stretching at this stage, which can feel a lot like sharper cramps.

Back to my morning sickness obsession - I still don't have it yet: just evening queasiness. Does anyone else get this pattern? You get a really urgent urge to get dinner ASAP at about 5pm before it's too late and you can't face it. You eat slowly and can't finish the plate. The rest of the evening you get queasiness bordering on dodgy gut/heartburn/hungriness/over-tiredness. If so, how do you deal with it? My answer last time was to nibble on an apple through the evening and then have a pot of rice pudding before bed to keep me going 'till breakfast. As I said before, I'm interested to hear other ideas since I'm sure there must be more than one way to survive this, and I had enough rice pudding with DD to sink a ship I'd like to see if sensible strategies can prevent things from getting too bad. I just hate feeling ill....

AileenF1 · 08/03/2009 22:57

ursigurke - That is really wierd, because I have been eating tonns of Bananas these last couple of weeks, couldn't work out why because I normally don't eat any. Must be my body telling me what I need.

hobnob - I used to be on a ttc thread but felt that was obsessing too much so haven't been on a thread in about 18 months or so. I'm glad these are available because I have learnt so much, I can't believe how naive I was before we decided to have kids. I'm embarrased by the level of sex education when i was at school because I didn't have a clue. I feel that I have really got to know my body very well.

I have just done the rounds and let my family know, they were all really pleased, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment. Plus my cat is due to give birth any day now and lots to think about. keep going to do the litter tray but having to stop myself, quite pleased that I have got out of that job. lol

helips · 09/03/2009 06:59

Morning everyone, hope you all had a good weekend.

I feel really tired this morning, woke up in the night and couldn't get back to sleep for ages, then ds woke me up at 6am. Think I will have a nap when ds does. Anyone else feeling really hot? ( temperature not sexy!) think thats one of the reasons I couldn't sleep, that and dh's snoring!

Aileen, hope your cat has a lovely homebirth and don't even think about changing the litter tray, you've got a good excuse after all!

yumsta · 09/03/2009 07:56

going for scan today...bricking it...

Fruitpastels · 09/03/2009 07:56

Morning all! Could someone please pass me the sick bucket?!! Have felt awful the last few days. A combination of exhaustion, morning (all day) sickness and ds's need for my full attention (maybe he is picking up on baby vibes!) We haven't told him as he's only 3 and he wouldn't fully understand it, maybe when a bump starts to show, but also we're keeping it quiet from a few people and ds may just announce it if he knew.

How is everyone feeling? I was convinced I would get away with the morning sickness - how wrong I was!

Fruitpastels · 09/03/2009 07:57

Good luck Yumsta!

amyboo · 09/03/2009 08:51

Can anyone shed any more light on the chickenpox issue for me? Found out yesterday that my 2 nephews currently have chickenpox. We're going to visit the in-laws and them in 2 weeks. Will I be OK to be around my nephews? I didn't have chickenpox as a child, but think I had it during university - I only ever had a few marks on my torso, but doctors did blood tests and said it was chickenpox.... Advice would be greatly received!

ursigurke · 09/03/2009 09:14

amyboo - you really should ask your GP about this. Normally I would say, in two weeks your nephews should not be contagious anymore.

Stokey · 09/03/2009 09:18

Good luck Yumsta - hope it all goes well. & Hope all you ladies with morning sickness feel better soon too.

Am touching wood & feeling slightly blessed as no adverse symptoms yet.. just falling asleep in front of telly by about 9.30-10 most nights, tho dh was away on stag this w/e & managed to stay up til 11.30 watching classic teen chick flick Mean girls.

Got quite into cleaning this w/e, dunno if that was hormonal... then got a bit worried fumes may be damaging for the baby so stopped.

eeyore2 · 09/03/2009 09:21

Hello all - just wanted to wish Yumsta the best of luck for your scan. We are all thinking of you.

barnowl · 09/03/2009 11:38

I have In-laws staying over and they keep producing cups of tea so I'm having to pretend to drink them and discreetly pour them down the sink when no-ones looking. normally the only thing I drink and I can't stand the taste of it at the mo. I've never gone off tea before with my other 3 in fact this is the first time I've had morning sickness and I've suddenly discovered what they mean by a metallic taste in your mouth I was quite happy not knowing it makes everything taste awful. Sorry about the rant but it's hard work trying to be smiley and entertaining when I feel so rubbish.

lemontop · 09/03/2009 12:34

I'm not sure if it's to do with pregnant or just an excuse to pass the time but I've started cleaning and organising my house like a woman possessed! The house has never looked so good. It must be catching because my DP started cleaning the windows on Saturday!

ursigurke · 09/03/2009 12:50

barnowl - sorry to hear that you feel rubbish but just try to see the good side of it. You are just keeping a wonderful secret! Isn't it exciting to hide that for a while and just keep it in between you and your partner?

I haven't told my parents yet and my mum, who knows that we wanted a baby right after getting married, is trying to keep my expectations down as normally it doesn't work just the first time. I am actually enjoying chatting with her about this while I am already pregnant. Obviously it is a bit easier for me as we can only chat on the phone or with skype so she can't see me.

Lemontop - I wish I had the same problem, our flat is a total mess and I could definitely need a bit of possession.

esselle · 09/03/2009 13:08

Bugger, had another mc, taken myself off the list. Good luck to you all!

Hi all, hope you are all well, so sorry to hear your news esselle take care.

My house is a tip too usigurke, just have no energy or motivation at the moment, oh well might have to wait till the nesting thing kicks in (sets alarm for about 6 months time).

BlackLetterDay · 09/03/2009 13:32

oops, hope your scan goes well yumsta, how exciting and slightly terrifying

eeyore2 · 09/03/2009 13:49

So sorry to hear your bad news Esselle.

ronniemummy · 09/03/2009 14:29

Hello! Can I join this group? I am around 6 weeks pregnant with a due date of around 5th Nov. Trying to postpone Dr app as long as possible. It's a nightmare as I found out 2 days before period was due, whereas with my daughter I didn't find out until 6-7 weeks. It's a killer not telling anyone especially when I slipped and fell on the ice at work on Fri- I was so worried in case anything happened!

I have the usual sore boobs- but seems to be fading a little now. Some days feel nauseous but most of the time I just feel tired! I had nausea for 4 months with baby no 1 but it put me off eating. This time, however, I seem to need to eat to stop myself feeling sick. So I am trying to be really healthy at the mo so the weight doesn't pile on. There will be 3 years between my daughter and baby No2!!!

HomeintheSun · 09/03/2009 19:03

Esselle I'm so very sorry to hear your bad news.

Welcome to all the newbies that have joined in the last few days.

My DS has got a cold and sleeping late in the afternoon and now doesn't want to go to sleep, the last two few days have been a right battle.

I've still got no morning sickness, my boobs are tender and the blood pressure tablets are still making my tired and are now making me a bit breathless and that's just while I'm sitting talking to friends, but I'm seeing the dr again on Wednesday so I'll see what she says.

I hope everyone is doing ok.

hobnob57 · 09/03/2009 20:21

esselle so sorry about your news. Take good care of yourself. Life's a stinker sometimes.

I've been cleaning like mad too. I had put it down to the sun shining so a) I have more energy (b) I can see exactly how disgusting my winter-spent-uncleaned house is (d) DD can be amused outside in the garden while I get on with it, and (d) my parents are visiting next weekend.

Sudden disappearance of symptoms today. Trying to ignore it until the come back.....
I've had a mad, crazy day so maybe I've just not noticed them so much. But dinner wasn't a problem tonight. Boobs still big though!

roomac · 09/03/2009 21:02

Esselle very sorry to hear your news. Hope your scan went well Yumsta. Have done another test and am still pregnant am also starting to feel v. tired and sick in the mornings - no desire to clean the house yet unfortunately! Ronniemummy my period is not due until Weds and I got my BFP on Friday so I know exactly how you feel. Damn those first response kits!!
