Morning All

For those of us who graduated from the November ttc bus, or any other ladies who are expecting in November, I thought it might be nice to have a thread where we can moan and groan to our hearts content!!

Hop on and chat away - if you're like us, then nobody in RL will be told for a while so I need someone to talk things through with!!

Anyone else want to join?

Thanks, yes I'm hoping that she will be able to communicate ok by then. I think she will be such a lovely big sister. And she's already walking so the independence shouldn't be a problem!

I'm back at work a couple of days a week too so she's used to being with grandparents and nursery one day a week - we'll def continue with that routine so at least I should get some respite from both of them together.

I'm a little worried about the jealousy aspect too. I suppose at least your dcs will be old enough to really explain things to - or am I putting too much on a 4yr old?!

Fruitpastels · 27/02/2009 11:43

My ds is used to being around other kids as I used to be a childminder and he's at pre-school. I think he'll be a great older brother. If handled correctly when baby arrives it should all work out fine

scarlotti · 27/02/2009 11:57

Think that you have to be careful at any age - my dd was 11 when my ds was born and I used to make sure I dragged myself out of bed to sit with her over breakfast even if I'd only had a few hours sleep.
She finds her younger brother irritating at times and lovely at times - I don't think that changes regardless of their ages!!

There's a good section on siblings in the mumsnet toddler guide - I bought one the other day and it made me laugh out loud in places! Think the key is to make the toddler think that it's their baby that's arriving.

Am sure we'll be discussing this at great length in about 7 months time!!

I've bought a great book called 'What's in your tummy, mummy' which explains things in kiddie language. It also gives a life size picture of the size of the baby each month. The last picture scares me it's so big!!

Just found out this morning after suspicions for a few weeks. First one, didn't know till 3 months as no morning sickness or other clues so it feels like a very long wait to the magical 12 weeks for this one.

Very excited as DD just turned 1, but full of worry that something will go wrong. Easy preg, quick birth and easy baby last time, waiting for a nightmare this time.

Good to be able to talk to others in same position.

scarlotti · 27/02/2009 21:44

welcome beckynbump and congratulations!!
No reason why this pg shouldn't be just as straightforward for you

esselle · 28/02/2009 09:48

Ok so I am feeling a bit pregnant now. I am craving Chinese and Thai food and insomnia has kicked in again.

mangolassi · 28/02/2009 10:08

hello, can I join? esselle says this is where I should be, have no idea of my dates.

becky, I didn't know till well after 12 weeks last time either - this pregnancy is going to be 1/3 longer. Weird.

ooh, folic acid - was too late to bother last time round.

what else are we supposed to be doing?

scarlotti · 28/02/2009 12:53

Hi mangolassi and congratulations!

Not sure we're supposed to be doing much more than the folic acid and healthy eating. Am starting to get a bit tired now in the evening. Ds woke me up at 5:45 this morning too so think I might be taking myself off for a nap later today

I did another test this morning as had bought a pack of 2 - wanted to see a strong line on it rather than the weak one from before - how daft am I?!

OP posts:
beckynbump · 28/02/2009 17:22

First midwife appointment next Tuesday. Cannot wait to have that green booklet again. I just want to get the 12 week scan done and make it official, I am so excited. Taking the Folic acid this time, didn't find out till too late last time. Wow, isn't this bit boring, just waiting!!

More wary of the amount of lifting and carrying I do now, all of a sudden DD is being taken in a pram to the child minder, not just carried up the hill.Be good to hear some of your due dates when we get to that stage.

julietbat · 28/02/2009 19:25

Hi beckynbump and mangolassi - congrats to both of you!

Beckynbump, we're in totally the same position - my dd turns 1 in a week and I also had a fantastic first pregnancy (although not the birth by any means) and dd is and has been a really fantastic and easy baby. I also have the added worry that this one will be a bit of a duffer because as my dp is female we used her egg last time (ivf) but this time its the turn of my oeuf. What pressure!

scarlotti · 28/02/2009 19:34

backynbump - good luck for Tues. We don't get green booklet's down here but A4 sized white ones in a folder, hardly discreet!

The wait is hard. We're trying to work out when to tell family as we've had 2 m/c before this, second one we'd told pretty much everyone so then had to un-tell which was dreadful.

julietbat - my ds is my dh's but my dd is dh's dsd so very different temperaments. I tend to presume it's because they're different children rather than a different genetic mix. Proof will be when this one pops out!

dd was brilliant baby, very placid, slept well etc. ds has been good but is much less patient and much stroppier naturally.
Of course that could just be because he's male

Congrats Beckynbump, Estelle and Mangolassi

I'm booked in with the GP next week. Get the ball rolling!

Starting to show a little paunch today. Most of my bottoms aren't fitting. They say you show quicker when you've already had a baby..

KnittingNeedle · 28/02/2009 20:59

Hi all!

Can I join too? I'm due early November.

This is number 4 and we're both still a little shellshocked tbh

scarlotti · 28/02/2009 21:30

The more the merrier! Congratulations knittingkneedle - am sure it will sink in soon

Fruitpastels - how many weeks are you now? It's true you show quicker from no.2 onwards.

Am wondering when my trousers will get tight as this is no.3?!

OP posts:
KnittingNeedle · 28/02/2009 21:41

It's true scarlotti, though I'm finding I'm fine during the day but ready to put my (elasticated waist) pj's on by 6pm as jeans so uncomfortable.

I'm reeling becasue this was a 'surprise' and had a big clear out about 6 weeks ago and got rid of every baby thing in house. all I have left is a bumbo which DC2 and 3 use as The Drivers Seat when they are going on pretend days out.

Anyone else getting contraction type feelings very low down?? I can't remember if this is normal

Fruitpastels · 28/02/2009 22:04

Hi knittingNeedle Welcome! I had cramps & pulling a couple of weeks ago, nothing since. Seems very normal.

I'm trying to stay up for as long as poss tonight. I keep waking up too early and before my ds rises, so need to last out a bit longer tonight.

scarlottiI will be 4 weeks tomorrow (I think!) but going from the 1st day of my last period it's 6 weeks. I'm petite and showed very early with ds, so won't be able to disguise the paunch for too much longer! How many weeks do you think you are?

When we all get our confirmed dates, we should put them on a list so we can keep up with everyone.

scarlotti · 28/02/2009 22:29

Knittingkneedle - that's just sods's law! Hope the shock wears off soon.
How old are your other dc's?

Fruitpastels - you're 6 weeks then as they take it from the first day of your last period.

I'm 4 weeks today if my calculations are right.

Good idea on creating a list.

I'll start the ball rolling and everyone can add themselves on:

Scarlotti baby#3 due 6th November

BlackLetterDay · 28/02/2009 23:04

Hi all, I did join the October thread but like someone else said they do all seem to be quite far on. This is #3 for me and I think I'm about 4.5-6.5 weeks lol.

julietbat · 01/03/2009 08:33

Morning. Congrats Knittingneedle and BlackLetterDay!

Fruitpastels - I'm 6 weeks too. But not showing at all yet (I easily kept my first hidden until 20 weeks - I have quite a long torso so think there's room to stretch without sticking outwards!).

In fact, I don't have many major symptoms yet (which I can't help but feel a little anxious sometimes!). I am having to pee at night again and I do feel tired a lot but then I've had a horrid cold and sinusitis for a few weeks now so feel generally run down anyway. Am waiting for the nausea to kick in like it did for my first but as yet, nothing. Can't believe there's actually a little part of me that wants morning sickness to start just so I'll know for sure something's really growing in there!

scarlotti · 01/03/2009 08:37

think we all feel anxious julietbat so you're not alone. I had tingly booobs at first but that seems to have gone and they're not filling my bra anymore - naturally I think it's a bad omen if I let my brain linger on it too much. Hopefully not though!

OP posts:
Fruitpastels · 01/03/2009 08:57

Congrats BlackLetterDay!

The worst part of finding out our pregnancies so early is the anxiety and symptom spotting. I've felt exhaused by it all. I do feel much more relaxed about it this week.

I'm either 5 or 6 weeks. I will pop my EDD on the list this Thurs when I see the GP.

Julietbat - I've had a terrible cough for weeks now. I'm trying every remedy possible to shift it.

I feel run down and I've had a break-out of teenage spots this week! It's all coming back to me when I was pregnant with ds, the blooming stage took forever to kick in for me!

julietbat · 01/03/2009 08:58

You're right Scarlotti. And I'm normally not a worrier at all so I'm making sure I don't dwell on things too much. I had really tingly boobs the first time around but haven't felt anything different this time, although my nipples are very sore (bf hurts at the mo!). However, I have discovered what I think are darker aerola(sp!) this morning so that's good.

We have a scan on 12 March to see if there's a heartbeat so I'm promising myself not to read too much into anything until then.

julietbat · 01/03/2009 09:00

x post Fruitpastels! Hope you feel better soon. I did read that our immune systems are low at the moment to prevent our bodies from rejecting the embryo so that would explain why we can't shift the cold. It's a bloody nuisance though!

Fruitpastels · 01/03/2009 09:08

Julietbat - will be thinking of you on the 12th

scarlotti · 01/03/2009 13:37

Fingers crossed for the 12th for you julietbat

Am seeing the doc on Thurs too so will confirm my edd then. Hopefully will then have a date for an early scan at the epu to check for a heartbeat. Not sure I'd stay sane if I have to wait until the 12 week mark.
