Morning All

For those of us who graduated from the November ttc bus, or any other ladies who are expecting in November, I thought it might be nice to have a thread where we can moan and groan to our hearts content!!

Hop on and chat away - if you're like us, then nobody in RL will be told for a while so I need someone to talk things through with!!

Anyone else want to join?

esselle so sorry to hear your news. Take good care of yourself

yumsta hope your scan went well

hello to all the other ladies - so many posts for me to remember to respond too, and they've gone over a page so my pregnancy brain has forgotten the specifics!!

Nausea was dreadful over the weekend, usually it comes in around lunchtime or just after then lasts the rest of the day. Only way I can seem to cope is to eat, and slightly carby things like scones or hot cross buns
Seemed a bit better today but it comes and goes.

Hormones are playing me up too - tend to get irritable at times and very pmt ish, much to the delight of my dh and dc's

goodness yes, that PMT feeling scarlotti! I hadn't cottoned on, but that would explain a lot this past couple of days.

  • being in a fuming rage with DH for playing golf on Sunday when he's been working late nights and hasn't seen much of DD in ages and he was flying off on a course that night 'till Tuesday (despite him being too tired to deal well with her CONSTANT high-volume chatter so he was better off out of the house really)
  • being in a fuming rage with DH for not feeding DD breakfast and taking he nappy off on Sunday morning whilst trying (unsuccessfuly and crankily) to keep DD's incessant chatter minimal so I could have a lie-in
  • being so cranky at work today, that when handed a stress toy I promptly broke it in a rage

I thought I was just over-worked.... but pg would explain that. I keep forgetting

julietbat · 10/03/2009 09:00

Morning all. Hope everyone's feeling ok today. Congrats and welcome to all the newbies over the last few days.

Esselle so sorry to hear your news. Thinking of you.

Yumsta hope the scan went well yesterday. Mine is Thurs and I'm trying not to think about it too much. My dp has made me plan cover lessons for the rest of the day (we teach in the same school) just in case the scan isn't good news. I know she's totally right to make me do that but I don't like to think negatively in case it jinxes things (great scientific basis for that argument!)

Fingers crossed but I don't seem to be doing too badly with the morning sickness this time. I had horrible nausea with dd from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to bed. This time I'm definitely feeling queasy if I don't eat frequently enough but that's about it at the moment. And what a relief that is! I'm under no illusions, though, I'm sure it will creep up on me sometime soon! I do also appear to be craving kfc which is very weird considering I hardly ever eat meat and I don't like fast food!

I think I might also be coming out of that awful tiredness of the early weeks. Last week I felt soooo ridiculously tired it was actually making me feel quite depressed (which I'm not normally at all). I just couldn't see how I'd have the energy to do anything ever again! But now, although I'm still tired it feels like a more normal I-have-a-year-old-little-girl-who's-completely-hyper tiredness. And I can cope with that.

Thanks for your messages of support about the adoption on Friday. It went really well and we had a nice day together. And now that ridiculous situation is done and dusted we can get on with being normal parents.

It was dd's first birthday on Sunday - we hired out our local guildhall (it's only two doors away from us) and a bunch of soft play equipment and had 18 babies and toddlers over for the morning! I have to admit I was dreading it last week but in the end it was fab. Dd LOVED every second. The only shame is she won't remember it. But we have tonnes of video to embarrass her when she's older

Koumak · 10/03/2009 09:03

Morning ladies,
I have been posting much just lurking.
Went to see my GP yesterday and she was lovely. She took me by surprise though as she asked what hospital I wanted to give birth in ? how am I to know. She gave me a week to decide so she can send the paperwork to whoever I want to go with.
I forgot to tell her the length of my cycle so she put the EED to 28 Oct but I will wait for the scan as I am sure they will probably add a few days.
In regards to cleaning have NO intentions. When pregnant with ds i was cleaning walls by the end so something to look forward to i am sure.
I have no ms same as with ds so could be another boy do you think?
Hope everybody is feeling ok.

Koumak · 10/03/2009 09:05

I meant to say i have NOT been posting much oh well pregnant brain!

scarlotti · 10/03/2009 09:23

hobnob thank goodness it's not just me then! I got annoyed at dh for coming in so late from a night out on Friday and tbh I don't think I let it go for most of the weekend. That pmt way of letting it fester in my head only hurts me in the end, but I do struggle to cope with it.

Am sure i've read somewhere that the placenta takes over hormone production at around 12 weeks which is when it will all subside as then we'll be getting the right balance of hormones - apparently our bodies don't quite get the balance right until then. Maybe that also explains the ms and other joys in the first trimester!!

julietbat sounds like your dd had a blast! We did something similar for ds for his birthday and they all loved it!!

koumak I had ms with ds so if the gender thing is right then I'm the opposite!

OP posts:
amyboo · 10/03/2009 11:15

Like Koumak, I've been more lurking than posting.

I've not really had ms, but I feel incredibly queasy every day until about 3pm. If I get hungry, it gets a lot worse... Unfortunately this means I seem to be graxing all day rather than actually eating a proper meal. I'm sure I will regret this later on, but it's the only thing that stops me feeling awful. Apart from that, I feel exhausted, and am finding it hard to concentrate.

Nice to see that lots of other folks have joined the November list in the last few days. Sorry to hear the bad news for esselle.

amyboo · 10/03/2009 11:16

Obviously meant grazing not graxing!

LovelyPear · 10/03/2009 11:52

hello! I'd love to join this group. I don't have a due date, but I'm due some time in Nov I think.

DS will be 1yo on Sunday - we were planning for a second but hadn't expected him/her to come along so soon! Julietbat, how are you feeling about having 2 under 2? I freaked when we first found out, but now I'm getting v excited about doing it all again!

WizzyWoo · 10/03/2009 12:17

Afternoon All

Everyone's been so busy posting, it's taken ages to catch up! Between my DD trying to wreck my laptop and my DH hogging it, I don't get chance to chat as much as I'd like.

Scarlotti Do you have a Surestart in your area? My DH goes to a Dad's group at the Surestart nursery my DD attends when I'm at work. They do lots of community things throughout the week including weekends and although the first time he went DH wasn't sure about going, he loves it now, especially having the chance to chat to other dads about kids, football etc. Not sure if all Surestarts have them but worth a shot. If not, maybe one could be set up? I must admit I look forward to the first Saturday of every month when they spend the morning there and I guard my me-time fiercely. Since I also deliberately seem to forget something from the weekly shop, they get packed off with a mini shopping list before they go which means I get even more time to myself!

Just to update, DH had the sense not to let DD touch any of the animals so thankfully they all left the building alive and well. She was apparently particularly delighted by an African snail called Colin but wasn't sure about him waggling his anntenae at her...

Fruitpastels I also seem to have developed an aversion to chocolate and have found that a piece of my favourite dark Green and Blacks now tastes how I imagine rusty metal would taste...

I haven't had too much ms so far and was actually worrying that all my symptoms seemed to have disappeared. Today though, my boobs are really painful but I'm pleased about it IYSWIM.

Back at work tomorrow after a few days holiday, mostly spent suffering with hideous cold (4th one this year despite vitamins etc). Dreading having to try to squeeze back into my work clothes, as my jogging pants are just soooo comfy! Sorry about the really long and boring post... I'll try to keep up to date so they'll be shorter from now on!

WizzyWoo · 10/03/2009 12:21

Forgot to say how sorry I am to read Esselle's news...

Also, howdy to LovelyPear - my DD will have recently turned 2 when this little bambino arrives and although I'm worried about how I'll cope, especially as we don't have any family support, I'm also really excited by the prospect. The gap between myself and my next sister up the family tree is 9 years so I really felt quite lonely as a child. When I see my DH's relationship with his elder sister (2 year gap), I'm reassured that we've done the right thing.

PootleTheFlump · 10/03/2009 13:23

Esselle, so sorry for you, thinking of you x

LovelyPear congrats and welcome. We weren't planning on having another quite so quickly either. Think our ideal gap was 2 years which would've meant me getting preggers in June. But as soon as our consultant realised I'd just turned 35 he acted as if I'd just told him I was 75 and persuaded us to start right away! Actually, I know a lot of people who conceived right away with dc1 (we did - it was our first ivf try) but took months or years with dc2 so we thought he was probably right to get going sooner rather than later. And then I conceived first time on the iui! My sis keeps saying it's lucky I wasn't a slapper when I was young or I'd have had loads of kids.

So we're terrified and excited all at once! At least, so people tell me, the hard work will be during the first few years and then it should get a lot easier when they have ready-made playmates. That's what I'm really hoping. I absolutely adore my two sisters and I'm so hoping that will be the same with my dcs.

julietbat · 10/03/2009 14:34

Oh, and PootleTheFlump best of luck for your scan tomorrow. Hope all is well.

Thanks Wizzywoo and Julietbat! We weren't even trying, so it came as a shock, especially as we had a few goes with DS! Very excited and happy now though

Most people I have talked to about it say they'll be extra close because of the age gap, so I hope that's the case. I had to tell my dentist today though, as I had an appt for Saturday, and he had the nerve to say "of course you know they'll be rivals". Grr - why does everyone have an opinion? God, it's started already...

Ok, will add meself to the list now:

yumsta · 10/03/2009 20:39

julietbat - what time is your scan?

cupcakefairy · 10/03/2009 21:08

Hi Mummies to be
I'm a newbie to the boards, and to pregnancy!

By my calculations, using the Prem rule not the LMP rule, I should be due 7th November.

Like everyone has said, so so good to be able to talk to people about it here as DH and I haven't told anyone IRL!

I have a few questions as loads of you seem to be second time Mums..
I've booked a doctors appointment for 23rd March, almost 2 weeks away...should I be going before that?
Should I be pushing for an early scan if I have brown discharge and cramps? I also have nausein the mornings and evenings as of a couple of days ago.

Today I have felt overwhelmingly tired and really angry at everyone at work. It is so frustrating not being able to say why you are not yourself!

Anyway, nice to be here with you all and I'm excited about our journeys

julietbat · 10/03/2009 21:26

congrats cupcakefairy. I'm not the best person to answer your question but from what I've heard others say, your symptoms sound pretty normal to be honest. I think if you haven't got a history of m/c or had fertility treatment you don't tend to get seen by a doc for a while and you don't get a scan until 12 weeks. I'm having one at 7 weeks because mine was iui and my fertility clinic always do an early scan.

Yumsta - my scan is 9am. Sorry you got messed around but it sounds like you're feeling a little better about it all.

So far I've refused to give in to my kfc cravings! But the chocolate has beaten me. I've already had a twirl today and I'm now munching my way through a bag of mini eggs. I didn't even have a sweet tooth before getting pregnant the first time but it appears to have stayed with me!

So sorry about vtiredmumm'ys news, hope to see you on a December 09/ Jan 2010 thread.

And lots of positive energy for everyone else who's suffered mc in the past and hanging on for the 12 week mark (and don't worry, get excited! positive thoughts can only help )

Congratulations to all the newcomers since I was last on here, and a special congrats for julietbat's dp - must be nice to have all the formalities dealt with. We've spent the last week trying to get paperwork in order for a trip to the UK in July-ish - I need to recheck the dates in light of recent events! what's the latest we can fly?

Also saw a doctor, but not the one I want to go with (he was busy delivering a baby so can't complain I suppose). She reckons I'm due on Oct 27, but she didn't adjust for my long-ish cycle so i'm sticking with Nov 1 edd.

Am still having moments of disbelief - pregnant? really?

mangolassi · 11/03/2009 08:37

Oh, esselle, sorry I missed you before. Thinking of you x

scarlotti · 11/03/2009 08:46

Morning ladies - just a quick hello to keep in touch!

mangolassi I think you can fly until about 28 weeks with no problems, and a little later with a doctor's note but it varies across airlines.

cupcakefairy you tend not to see the midwife or gp for a booking in appointment until 8 weeks so if you go see your gp at around 6 weeks then they can advise what happens in your area. Your symptoms sound normal so don't worry. Cramping is normal as your insides are stretching.

It would appear that I started this thread in the wrong section - it should have been in the ante-natal bit!! There is another thread over there for November babies here - do we want to wander over there and make a bigger group? Some of us are on both already.....
over to you guys to work out what we want to do!!
The more the merrier I think for what it's worth
