Morning All

For those of us who graduated from the November ttc bus, or any other ladies who are expecting in November, I thought it might be nice to have a thread where we can moan and groan to our hearts content!!

Hop on and chat away - if you're like us, then nobody in RL will be told for a while so I need someone to talk things through with!!

Anyone else want to join?

Having very stressful time at work, keep trying to remind myself that it's not that important at the moment.

SymptomWatch: My boobs feel kind of heavy but bras still fit. And I watched Milk last night and got very emotional. It was great, though.

Have dr's appointment on Fri, not sure what it'll consist of, probably just give me some folic acid and book another appointment later for a scan.

Very glad of the other 3-year gappers, am flipping between excitement at being pg, a bit of sadness that our family as we know it is changing and fear of the sibling rivalry to come. Maybe it's all hormones, who knows.

Have moved Becky to the front of the list, seeing as she's due earliest

amyboo, think that some spotting is normal, don't worry. You have gynea today, right?

amyboo · 04/03/2009 08:37

Thanks for the reassurance mangolassi . I have an appointment with my GP this afternoon. I haven't sorted out a gynae yet, as I normally just see my GP for my smear tests, etc. I'm hoping my GP will be able to recommend some names to me, especially as she had a baby herself a few months ago.

mangolassi · 04/03/2009 08:47

now this is really really jumping the gun, but do you know what kind of birth you want? Here, all ante-natal care is done by the obstetrician who'll deliver the baby, so you need to start thinking about it early

amyboo · 04/03/2009 08:52

Ooh - are you in Belgium as well? I'm in Brussels - lived here for 7 years...

No idea about the birth really - I guess I'll need to start thinking about that soon. I think I possibly want a birthing pool, and ideally avoiding an epidural (if I manage to hold out). I hate stirrups, and I've heard that's quite standard here, so I'd like to avoid that if possible.

mangolassi · 04/03/2009 09:02

No, sorry, that wasn't very clear - I'm in Thailand.

scarlotti · 04/03/2009 10:30

Blackletterday - we tried for a spring baby too but someone somewhere had other plans for us. Funnily enough, I am pg again in the exact same circumstance as ds 4 years ago. Valentine conception and baby due early november. Ds's birthday is 11th Nov!

Helips - interesting you'd heard the other way around re the sickness. Guess time will tell for us all!

amyboo - don't panic, there are lots of reasons why you might get some spotting. It's common for up to 48 hrs after sex so that's something to bear in mind

mangolassi - lol!! I'd been thinking beckynbump should go at the top of the list!! Glad to see I'm not the only anal one!

I'd wanted a waterbirth with ds but it wasn't to be. There was meconium in my waters when they broke so I had to be monitored throughout. Hopefully this time I'll get one!
The only advice I can give (if anyone wants it!!) is to try and find positions that allow gravity to help. Both of mine were born quite quickly and I tried to be as upright or squatting as I could. On your back in stirrups is not the natural way so you'll have to work much harder to push.

It's so interesting that we come from all over the world - will be interesting to see the different advice we all get!

So, another question that's probably too soon .... is anyone finding out what the sex is before the birth?

OP posts:
Fruitpastels · 04/03/2009 10:50

scarlotti - will you find out the sex? I don't think we will. I'm all for keeping it as a surprise. I've already got a couple of baby names in my mind. I can't help myself!

I've kept all my ds's baby things, which are mainly unisex colours. I need to get dh up in the loft in Spring to see what we have got. It will be strange seeing it all again.

amyboo · 04/03/2009 10:51

scarlotti thanks for the reassurance. DH and I bd'd (not sure I can still call it that!) in celebration last night, so that could be it...

In answer to your question - we definitely plan to find out the sex of the baby. We already decided that when sil had our 2 nephews and didn't find out...

scarlotti · 04/03/2009 12:16

Yes, I think we will find out this time, mainly for practical reasons
I did ask when I was pg with DD but she had her legs crossed and so they couldn't say - I was relieved afterwards that it was still a surprise. With ds we didn't ask but I was convinced he was a boy anyway - not sure why though!

This time I think we'll find out as it will be the last baby, hence the last chance to ask!! It would also help us work out the bedroom situation at home and also whether we need all the blue clothes I've packed in boxes!!

My sil found out but they didn't tell anyone except her Mum!! Am not sure how she kept it quiet or why she didn't want people to know really

BlackLetterDay · 04/03/2009 12:34

Has anyone taken ages to get a bfp btw? If I go by lmp I am 7 weeks, but didn't get a bfp until last monday when I would have been approx 6 weeks I think . I did feel pg around the 4 week mark but did a few tests which were bfn, but then again I also had ewcm and a feeling very much like ov pain around that time, so could have ovulated late, making me around 5 weeks I think. Obviously I kept testing becauseI'mobsessed was convinced. So confusing.

BlackLetterDay · 04/03/2009 12:38

I wouldn't worry about the spotting ambyboo, just keep an eye on it, although it is always horrid to see it when it happens, maybe ask for an early scan at the dr's?

I would find out the sex but they don't tell you at Watford, I'm frankly too tight to shell out £100 for the priviledge, might just ask them to show me a bum shot and take my own best guess lol.

scarlotti · 04/03/2009 13:02

blackletterday - took me two weeks after the first bfn to get a bfp with dd so I wouldn't worry at all. They'll take your edd from the 1st day of your last period anyway and then change it if need be after the dating scan at 12 weeks.
As you're on #3 (same as me) you'll just get the cursory treatment as they presume you know it all anyway

tbh, if it cost me money to find out I'd wait too!!

OP posts:
WizzyWoo · 04/03/2009 13:31

Hi Everyone, hope you're all okay.

Scarlotti We're going to find out the sex because we did last time and also we still have loads of my DD's smaller clothes which I was going to pass on to a friend but she had a boy...

mangolassi I'd love to have a water birth but failing that, anything better than DD's birth will suit me. Spent days in labour being induced, had every painkiller going including an epidural and a drug which made me tell my DH to shut up and let the Man from Del Monte finish what he was saying... DD finally delivered with legs akimbo in stirrups, not the most graceful of poses!

helips · 04/03/2009 13:34

Ambyboo, sure everything is alright re the spotting, just keep an eye on it and if it gets any worse speak to your doctor, like mangolassi says I think it's quite normal for around this time. I had some spotting over the weekend and think it was implantation bleeding, in fact thats one of the reasons I thought I might be pregnant as af wasn't due for another 4 days and it is never early!

We are not going to find out the sex of the baby. Didn't with ds either, I like surprises! I found it really helped me get through the labour wondering what flavour baby I would be getting. I've still got ds clothes, most of the baby clothes are neutral so if I have a girl next I still won't have to buy much for the first few months.

lemontop · 04/03/2009 13:57

Hi

Can I join in? My situation is almost identical to Stokey's above....

Me and partner have been 'seeing what happens' for a few months now. On Friday we were thinking of having a few drinks. My AF was 2 days late so did a test, mainly to put my mind at rest about going out that night. Got a very faint BFP(much to my surprise!!)

I think that makes me about 5 weeks today and due around 5th November. This is my first so I'm very nervous and excited and gutted I can't tell anyone.

No symptoms as yet except feeling a bit strange in the afternoon.

ursigurke · 04/03/2009 14:06

Hi!
What's the difference between this thread and the ante natal club for November?
Anyway, I'm in the 6th week, due on the 2nd of Nov and it would be the first child.
We were very happy to find out, had been our first time to try, right after the wedding.
So far I'm not having too many symptoms, sometimes a bit of sickness and tiredness.

Fruitpastels · 04/03/2009 14:26

Welcome ladies and congrats

ursigurke - I haven't seen the antenatal thread for November babies. There were a few of us on the TTC November Bus that got to know one another and graduated at around the same time- everyone is welcome

Koumak · 04/03/2009 15:09

Hi girls
we are definitely finding out the sex I am way to impatient for that and also practical reasons I shifted all ds clothes to my sister who since then had a girl and boy so need to find out what clothes should be transported back?
Have a gp appointment on Monday cant wait to meet the midwifes for the scan date more than anything!
I have moved into different area since having my ds so presume this baby will be completely different experience as the care varies so will be in different hospital etc.
I was thinking about home birth but keep thinking about the noise and neighbours and ds etc. also dh not too keen as worried about things going wrong. He did most of the work himself during the ds arrival (apart from me obviously lol) as diff midwifes kept rushing away for emergencies! The last one only arrived to catch ds before he hit the floor . I wanted water birth last time and had access to birthing pool in the hospital but I didn?t really like it for some reason. But I was induced so the labour was full on so could be that.
Of my chest. Thanks for listening reading
Hope everybody is feeling ok today.

Hello, I've come from the November bus. its good to see you all here.

I've added myself to the list, I'm EDD 9th Nov

Can I ask a supremely ditzy question?...
...My first pregnancy, I tested when 5 days late and got a faint line. This time round, I tested at either between 4 days late or 1 day early (misbehaving periods). But the line when BHAM and was darker and stronger than the control line.

I used the same brand of test, are they just getting stronger or something?
