Morning All

For those of us who graduated from the November ttc bus, or any other ladies who are expecting in November, I thought it might be nice to have a thread where we can moan and groan to our hearts content!!

Hop on and chat away - if you're like us, then nobody in RL will be told for a while so I need someone to talk things through with!!

Anyone else want to join?

Hi scarlotti, what is the epu?

Well I've gone in to overdrive with my usual housework routine on a sunday morning, and I've over done it and feel nauseous and tired. Think I'll be putting my feet up this afternoon.

julietbat · 01/03/2009 14:57

That sounds like a great idea, fruitpastels - whether you've done any housework or not!

Thanks for your good wishes from both of you, am really excited about the scan. Nervous too but definitely excited.

It's a lovely day here (i'm in the south west) so we took dd to the park to play on the swings and slides this morning. She loved being around all the children and couldn't stop laughing and staring at them all. Makes me really happy to think that she'll have a playmate hopefully in the future.

scarlotti · 01/03/2009 16:09

epu = early pregnancy unit.
As we've had 2 m/c's we should be able to get them to do an early scan to see if this bean is growing ok etc. I'm hoping that they'll agree to scan me at the point where a heartbeat has developed (approx 6-7 weeks) as the chance of m/c drops to below 3% then.

Not sure what it will look like then, don't think it's quite baby shaped at that point. I downloaded the nhs pregnancy desktop and the picture it gives for this week (week 5) makes it look like I'm carrying a cockroach!

julietbat - we've taken ds out before where there have been babies and it's lovely to see him look at them with a bit of interest. Whether he'll still be as interested when he realises this one is here to stay I don't know!!

Tired today too. On the sofa now and think I might just stay here

Fruitpastels · 01/03/2009 18:39

Scarlotti - I hope they give you the scan as soon as it's possible. I'm sorry you've had such a bad time in the past.

It's been a nice day here today, we are in the South East. Looking forward to Spring time and the change of clothes - even though they will be maternity, here's hoping to get away with a few sizes bigger for as long as poss

My rest on the sofa has been interrupted by my ds, so an early night instead.

Stokey · 01/03/2009 18:55

Hello,

Found out I was pregnant on Friday after period was 3 days late. Had a hen w/e to go to for my best friend who is getting married in a fortnight.. I'm a bridesmaid. So took a test on Friday that came up positive & another on Saturday that was also positive. Have to say am still in bit of shock... first time & DH & I had not really been actively trying, more just not using anything since start of this year.
Have been out a lot over last fortnight, drunk a lot & feel kinda guilty now but at least found out b4 the hen so didn't indulge.

Seems like most of teh other people on this thread have done it before so any advice much appreciated. In particular would like to know when my boobs are going to grow.. slightly worried about falling out of the bridesmaid dress....
Does the fact that i've been living so unhealthily make it more likely that I'll miscarry?
Is it ok to drink like 1 glass of wine or champagne in first trimester (obv not regulalrly)? got this wedding to go to & know evryone will be very suspicious if i claim I have a kidney infection or something!

Thx for help

Fruitpastels · 01/03/2009 19:11

Congratulations Stokey and welcome!

This is my second pregnancy and it's feeling very different so far to the first time around.

With the drinking over the last couple of weeks I wouldn't worry. It's what you do now to keep healthy I didn't drink through my last pregnancy or will with this one either, but a glass of champers won't hurt, just try and keep it to the odd one.

I had to laugh about the boobs thing - I'm hoping for a more ample cleavage as well, especially after having ds and they never went back to their original size, just smaller I've gone up a cup size so far, there is hope yet

Any idea on your due date?

scarlotti · 01/03/2009 20:02

Fruitpastels - thanks. Think it will just ease the worry a bit and let me enjoy it!
Am in the South East too - where abouts are you? We're in Brighton.

Stokey - when I was pg with my ds, I thought I had pmt so went out and got trashed. Found out I was pg the following day (did a test as I was bored!!
Ds is absolutley fine. Just take it easy now. If you want a glass of champers at the wedding then just have it with food if poss and drink plenty of water too.
You could also be the indespensable bridesmaid running around after the bride - then everyone would focus on how helpful you're being and you'll be too busy to drink too much!

Stokey · 01/03/2009 20:14

Thanks Fruitpastels!

Think my due date is 4 November, period was due last tuesday & normally like clockwork.

Have just given DH list of foods I can & can't eat & sent him to cook a healthy supper for me - guess this pregnancy thing has some up sides!

Feeling tired too but this may just be from staying up late at the hen, pretending to be drunk & doing karaoke! Am going to try & se GP tomorrow, get it confirmed.

Fruitpastels · 01/03/2009 20:18

Scarlotti - I'm in S.E London. Not far from Brighton actually. I'm jealous you live so close to the sea.

scarlotti · 01/03/2009 20:55

Don't be so jealous, we only seem to go down there when people come to visit

We live right near a lovely park so tend to spend more time there.

London is great too though, and living more south must mean you have the best of both worlds

I am useless at the chat lark. I read through all the comments and think of things I want to say in answer to people but then never get round to it. Actually had to go for a sleep this afternoon, first time since DD was born. Having exactly the same 'symptoms' as last time so reassure that everything is ok. Finger crossed I escape the sickness again.

Any one with 1 year old already, how are you managing with the lifting all the time? DD isn't walking yet and I am so conscious about my bump. Still last time I was loading full rucksacks into minibuses and going off on expeditions for first 3 months so guess I shouldn't really worry.

Anyone from Cumbria on here?

Fruitpastels · 01/03/2009 21:19

beckynbump - I wouldn't worry too much about lifting your dd. Just be careful how you're lifting her as time goes on. You don't want a sore back. I'm not lifting my ds but he is 3 and a very heavy. Luckily he doesn't want to be lifted anyway, just when he wants a cuddle or upset. I've been sitting down and having him on my lap for hugs. You've done well to only need an afternoon nap 1 year down the line. My ds doesn't nap anymore and so wished he did, I could then nap as well

HomeintheSun · 02/03/2009 10:08

Hi can I join you, got my BFP on friday and will be 5 weeks on wednesday. Just been to the dr and she said I'd get an early scan, at 7 weeks as it's routine in our area. DH and I have a 2.2 year old DS who is having a what I think maybe a week of tantrums, I know he's tired and I really hope he's going to nap later.

mangolassi · 02/03/2009 10:19

Hi all, and congratulations

Stokey - don't worry about drinking before you knew you were pg - I didn't find out for ages last time, and had a couple of massive parties including my birthday. You'll be fine. Just stop getting pished now!

Julietbat - sorry, I'm really nosy, just ignore me if you want and I won't ask again - how come you're doing the pregnancy again? Isn't your partner interested in the being pregnant part? (and I'm sure your egg's a winner, not to worry )

I don't seem to have any noticeable symptoms except no period, but it was like this last time so normal for me, I suppose. Think I can live without morning sickness though... and I think I'm 5 weeks ish. Did a due date calculator and it came out Nov 1, does that sound right?

mangolassi · 02/03/2009 10:21

HITS - my dd is 2.4, and being a complete pita as well

charliegal · 02/03/2009 11:37

Hi, am about 6 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. DS is 2.4.
Am really excited, but feel so sick at the moment. Has really bad morning sickness last time too for 3 months. This is the bit I was really dreading.
Julietbat- I had iui too, both times (female partner too!). Am impressed you felt up to getting pregnant again so quickly. My scan is on the 17th.
Anyone else feel sick?

scarlotti · 02/03/2009 12:16

Welcome to the new ladies and congratulations!
Homeinthsun - glad you found us from the November bus

Get the odd bit of nausea but nothing major, am sure that will pick up over the next few weeks. Starting to get very tired now though.

Ds gave up his afternoon nap a few months ago - we miss it! It used to be a lovely time of peace at the weekend, now they're just full on all day!!

OP posts:
scarlotti · 02/03/2009 21:26

mangolassi - I'm about 4.5 weeks and my due date is coming out around 7th Nov so you're around the right ballpark.

Had really bad nausea this afternoon - last pg it didn't kick in until about 8 weeks so not impressed at it arriving so soon. Although it's good to have symptoms as it stops me worrying quite so much!

OP posts:
BlackLetterDay · 02/03/2009 22:43

Hi charliegal, not much nausea here. It's interesting the whole nausea thing, felt very sick with dd, hardly at all with ds, time will tell with this one. Wonder if it's a first pregnancy thing or a boy/girl thing for some people??

I'm not good at chatting either Becky by the time I have read the messages and gotten to the top I have forgotten who said what, think I may need some kind of notebook system

Are anyone elses boobs on/off hurting? Also I seem to smell different not sure if it's my nose or actually me. TMI but I have an awful lot of wind too, just constantly rumbling.....nice.

HomeintheSun · 03/03/2009 06:24

Morning all I hope everyone is doing ok.
Black my boobs were a bit tender yesterday and then DS stuck his elbow in the right one so now that one hurts a lot. I've had a bit of nausea but I was lucky with DS, I was never sick and only got the nausea thing when I was hungry.
At the moment I'm so fed up of telling DS off, I must have spent the whole day telling him to get off the dog or not to pull their ears or strangle them, I feel like a broken record. Creche tomorrow morning so I get 4 hours piece and quiet so I'm getting my hair cut.

Leannabanana · 03/03/2009 07:51

hi all,
nice to have a thread for DD november's. have appt with doc tom to confirm that my little digital test yesterday was correct with the conception bit....prg calculator says 6th nov expected date. this is my 3rd but first with my new husband VERY VERY EXCITED.....xx

Tabbykat · 03/03/2009 07:59

Jumping aboard - have just found out I'm expecting number 2! No idea of due date as wasn't paying attention to period dates last month, but do know when the deed was done (drunken Valentine's ) - will go to the doctor next week, but does anyone know when I'm due??

Hope everone feeling well this morning? x

mangolassi · 03/03/2009 08:22

Looks like lots of us will have a 3 year gap. Dd has always been adamant that she doesn't want a baby in the house (every time one of her cousins gets a sibling, someone'll ask 'do you want a brother/ sister?' 'No.' Do you like babies? 'No.'). She's very consistent. I'm a bit nervous about it.

Tabbykat - sorry I can't help with dates, you could only be a couple of weeks in though?

julietbat · 03/03/2009 08:30

Morning everyone and congrats to Stokey, Homeinthesun, Blackletterday, Leannabanana and Tabbykat! Hope I haven't forgotten anyone!

I wanted to write something yesterday in one of my breaks (I'm a teacher) but discovered that this particular thread is filtered - must be some swearing on it somewhere (probably by me) so had to wait until this morning which is one of my days off. Dp has been moaning about being a mumsnet widow recently so I didn't venture on last night either!

Hope everyone is feeling ok today. I'm weeing for Britain but apart from that am fine. I'm pretty sure by this point last time I was quite sick so I'm intrigued by the whole possible boy/girl thing with morning sickness. Does anyone think there's anything in that? I had bad sickness for 14 weeks last time and I have a dd. Mind you, I was also carrying twins until 6 weeks so that could've added to it.

Beckynbump - my dd turns 1 on sunday. She's walking already which is making it a little easier but I still have to pick her up a lot and she's getting heavier daily it seems! I don't have a bump to speak of yet but am not quite sure what I'll do when it emerges. Keep picking her up, I suppose, not much else you can do! I remember being so precious first time around but you just don't have the luxury with a baby/toddler.

Mangolassi - I don't mind you asking at all. I've always wanted to be pregnant and loved it first time around. My dp has never really had that desire (although has always wanted to be a parent), is a few years older than me and earns more than me. So it just seemed the most obvious way round to do things.

Charliegal - We had ivf the first time around and iui with this one. I'm not sure I am completely ready to be pregnant again so quickly but we really want dd to have a sibling close in age. Mind you, we did asume it would take a while to get pregnant again because I only have one working fallopian tube so we could only have iui if I ovulated from the right side. Amazingly it worked first time! So we're pregnant a little earlier than we might have otherwise assumed!! Good luck for the 17th - how many weeks will you be then?

julietbat · 03/03/2009 08:32

And after that ridiculously long post I'm going to have a rest! xxx
