What first alerted you to the fact you were pregnant. Was it the missing period, or did something else trigger the "hmmmmm, what if" feeling???

sore boobs - period was late and I was watching a film which I think is called Crush - anyway andie mcdowall character is being sick and fainting etc and her doctor friend lists lots of symtoms including 'sore tits'! and then goes 'you're pregnant' I have very funny mental image of myself grasping my own sore tits with a rigid penny dropping expression on my face

Ooops, I really should have said that I had the extreme thirst before my period was due (and in the week I should have had it) with all 3 pregnancies.

O dear god, i forgot the smell thing. It wasnt before i found out i was pregnant, but a few days after. I really didnt like the smell of men, weird i know, but just being near one of 'them' made me sick as they just smelled funny. I went to my mothers house, who is single, and as soon as i opened the door the smell hit me, i very grumply announced 'theres a man in here isnt there' -sure enough there was, some electrician. I was also able to disgustedly tell my partner what he'd had for lunch every day, the poor thing.

Waves of nausea and extreme tiredness both times. I had implantation bleeds both times which I thought were light periods (as they went on for 4-5 days) so I didn't think I was pg until these other things started when I was about 7 weeks pg

elkiedee · 05/01/2009 14:06

DC1 - a very strong sense of smell - I thought the Reprographics unit at work had had decorators in but it was the way it always was and normally didn't notice

DC2 - very very tired

notcitrus · 05/01/2009 14:47

Exhaustion - figured I was run down and had to take 6 days off work with a cold, so had to see doc to get sicknote.

Didn't know until I got a letter two weeks later saying 'Those routine bloods we did say you are pregnant'...

In retrospect there was that annoying metallic taste in my mouth, but nothing really. I stopped throwing up and was losing weight - but the exhaustion continued for ages. Kept coming back from work, cooking ready meals, and going to bed after dinner.

Felt sick and light-headed at work about 10.30 after my breakfast calories had worn off and I started bloating like my period was due, but this was a week too early.

Then the burping began...

Felt car sick as a passenger - and this was about 12 hours after intercourse! Was car sick as a passenger all the time during my first pregnancy.

Chrysanthamum · 05/01/2009 21:12

Spot on my nose this time! Only ever have spots when preggers. I quite like the spot, feel like a young thing!

Woke up day after BD with sore nipples and raised BD. Same day (afternoon) the smell of a fast food shop make me feel ill, then felt nauseous that evening and couldn't eat my dinner (v unusual for me). Felt very, very hot that evening and thought I had a temperature....

Following symptoms appeared over the next 2 weeks:

Felt quite hot for 1st week after BD
As AF drew near some foods tasted different and less appealing.
Ever so slighly sore gums
Boobs felt heavier and noticed veins appearing, and while nipples became less sore, boobs became more so
Cramps, but further down(?), or at least different to AF cramps

Since I took test at week 4 -
Increased sense of smell
Food aversions and cravings/feeling sick
Tired, tired, tired
Very emotional - weepy and/or tetchy
Not sleeping well - waking early and needing loo a lot
Constipated
Sore, swollen bosoms, outgrew old bras at 5 weeks
Felt faint a few times

Sorry, got bit carried away but enjoyed that... my boyf is sick of hearing me relate symptoms..

HeftyMutha · 06/01/2009 15:13

Murderous, splitting headache about 10 days after ovulation. Tits too big to fit into bra. Metallic taste in mouth. Implantation spotting. Feeling sick...

sore boobs

FuzzyBee · 13/01/2009 18:38

Feeling extremely run down, exhausted and aching all over but thought was due to having a cold. Sore boobs. Smell of water making me feel sick as all I could smell was chlorine. Constipated. Mild period cramps in the pubic bone area.

ladylush · 13/01/2009 21:35

Tingly nipples (fizzing is a great description by the way!), feeling faint, feeling spaced out and efficient bowels (usually opposite).

SoLongMarianne · 13/01/2009 21:43

enhanced sense of smell

SatHereSitting · 13/01/2009 22:13

A blocked nose, sore boobs that didn't start to decline as AF approached and two dreams that I was pregnant, never ever had that before

bluesnowfalcon · 03/08/2009 09:05

Hi

Am due for period this week but came off pill last month so wondering about it.

Have read all the symptoms above and am now wondering if I might be pregnant but a little afraid of doing the test cos really want it to be positive!

My nipples have been really sore for 4 days so far, got a funny taste in my mouth, have headaches on and off for about 5 days, and got lots of saliva.

Anyone reading - what do you think?

Hot flushes the day before my period was due. Sore breasts (more than normal PMT) a few days before...

Hollyoaks · 03/08/2009 09:50

Bluesnowfalcon - they all sound like positive signs but the only way to know for sure is to test. If your really wanting a positive test your mind can play tricks on you so you need to know either way. Good luck

MrsBadger · 03/08/2009 10:01

lack of pre-menstrual spots...

ilovesprouts · 03/08/2009 10:18
