What first alerted you to the fact you were pregnant. Was it the missing period, or did something else trigger the "hmmmmm, what if" feeling???

Here's some weird ones. I got a jolly laugh out of nowhere, (I'm normally a miserable shouty cynic) and when I sneezed it went on divert away from sending any pressure to my abdomen.
I reckon I also felt the implantation too, although it could have just been uterine cramps and stretching.
My hubby was quick to spot the boobs. Although he was adamant the second line on the test was too pale for it to be positive. Gotta love those scientist husbands.

MumofBaby · 03/01/2009 14:24

Main thing was that I started having 5 (YES 5!!) wees a night! Which lasted the whole 9 months.

My skin went horrific at week 3, oily and spotty. I couldn't stand the thought of alcohol, and I was a little emotional.

DP made me take the test as he suspected. I was adament I wasn't pregnant as I had such bad period pain... which must have been the implanting thing?

I also got the metallic taste.

MumHadEnough · 03/01/2009 14:28

I had pains in my left hand side two days after conception and I just knew it was implantation pains.

A week later I was mad hormonal bitch.

Day of AF due I had the most horrendous sore boobs along with a metallic taste in my mouth.

midnightexpress · 03/01/2009 14:29

DS1 - incredibly sensitive sense of smell

DS2 - all my clothes started gettting tighter, just as I thought I was losing the baby weight from ds1 , and the stretchy feeling.

For my four pregnancies I felt like burping all the time shortly before missing my periode. My DH thinks I was just imagining it but when I asked a friend who happens to be a doctor, she told me that pregnancy can sometime make you swallow air which makes you feel like burping. Glad I am not mad after all... well I also have 4 DCs as proof!

pepperrabbit · 03/01/2009 15:17

DH beat me at Scrabble,
normally thrash him by about 100 points...

Pinkchampagne · 03/01/2009 15:21

very sore boobs & more frequent trips to the toilet

mosschops30 · 03/01/2009 15:25

Did anyone feel bloated before they got a BFP?
(just hoping as am constantly bloated from morning til night atm)

MumofBaby · 03/01/2009 15:56

I did. I was bloated all the time. It reached a peak at 17 weeks when I had to take time off work as I was doubled over in pain with what I can only describe as wind at the top of my tummy. It was horrible.

  1. Went off fags and booze but thought it was because of recent mega-hangover.
  2. Needed to wee lots (getting up 3 or 4 times in the night in the first week period was due)
  3. Really tired and wanted to go to bed by 8 or 9pm (thought it was down to getting lots of "fresh air" as was on holiday)
  4. Period like pains which were (in retrospect) implantation pains.
katiepotatie · 03/01/2009 16:19

Sore boobs with #1.
nothing with #2, still in denial at 6 months gone!

StealthPo09IsHere · 03/01/2009 16:20

I had a major pain in my coccyx. Didn't know I was pg at the time but am not on the lookout for it

themoon66 · 03/01/2009 16:25

Raging thirst. Would have killed for orange juice.

cikecaka · 03/01/2009 16:25

Had implantation cramps and i "just knew" so tested a day before AF was due and got BFP!!

MumofBaby · 03/01/2009 16:43

Oh yes, Kagey, that's another point. I tested 4 days early and got a BFP. So I'll always test early from now on.

LargeGlassofRed · 03/01/2009 17:00

burping and feeling generally washed out, also very acute sense of smell.
sickness didn't start for me till 6 weeks, am 13+2 now and praying it wil end soon although 2 little beans this time so who knows

loooouise · 03/01/2009 17:26

Getting up for a wee in the middle of the night three nights in a row. Then dreaming that I did a positive test (this was 2 days after I had in fact tested negative and drunk a bottle of wine.) I obeyed the dream and bought another test!

iamaLeafontheWind · 03/01/2009 17:30

Went off coffee straight away, but didn't realise it was a symptom until BFP at what turned out to be 12 weeks - my dating scan dated DD at 16 weeks (jaw on floor time). I'd only just come off the pill & was drinking & everything.

WindUpBird · 03/01/2009 19:12

When I thought my new brand of Earl Grey tea was off as it was making me feel sick...

jumpyjan · 03/01/2009 19:17

First time - sore boobs.

This time - don't know really I just knew (and soon started feeling knackered!)

Teaandcake · 03/01/2009 19:22

Metallic taste in mouth and (oddly) excessive v sticky earwax .

mum2b09 · 03/01/2009 19:22

I could smell absolutely everything and threw up constantly from very early on.. still hasnt stopped!! 30 weeks xx

undercovermummy · 03/01/2009 19:24

DS - did a test as was very excited to see if i was even though i had no symptoms

DD - felt sick a few days before af was due

this time - boobs started really tingling when dd was playing with a doll that made sucking noises when you put a bottle in its mouth.
