Hi there,

I am 4/5 weeks pregnant for the first time and really nervous about miscarrying - just want to wrap myself up in cotton wool ! Keep trying to quash my excitemnet but it's hard..

I love William - really lovely and classic.

We've just had two peopel we know name their LOs Tabitha! BIL & SIL and friends of ours too!

DH and I will have to fight it out over finding out! I don't want to know, but I know that he does. Have agreed that, as we hope to have two children, we'd find out with one but not the other. I would rather find out with first, but not the second. Reason being - obviously you're thrilled with having a healthy baby, but if I already have one flavor, I know I'd want the other for the second. I worry that I might be disappointed if it were a second boy or second girl. But I think when someone hands you your new baby, you couldn't possibly be disappointed - thus find out with the first, be surprised for the second!

Evening!
Blimey we're thinking of names already...Well as I have 3 boys already I'm going to have to think hard for a boys name as I've run out!! I do like Billy though. I think I like Emily or Katie for a girl, but not sure...Need to have a think on that one.

We'll probably find out the sex, although if we do we won't tell anyone that we know. It might be nice to have a surprise this time round as we knew with all three of the others. After the first we wanted to know as my eldest definitely only wanted brothers so we wanted to be able to prepare him if it wasn't! This time he's not worried either way (he's just very excited about another baby). Mind you, if it's a girl I think we'll all be in extreme shock!

Hi Ladies, Though id let you know i have my date though for the scan. For some reason im seeting the midwife first on the 3rd Dec (whick makes me 10+3 weeks) and then my dating scan on the 16th which makes me 12+3 weeks! strange ah!

Oh the namw thing always gets me! Me & DH can never agree but manged to come up trumps with our DS name. Now its just hard trying to find a boy/girls name that suits it!
I really like Hannah Elizabeth for a girl but also like Annabell! Boys names are hard for me but i do like Joseph & George. I tend to like tradition names but also love some of the old ones like Archie or Stanley although my DH would never agree on them!

At least we have time to think about it ah!!

Hope your all ok

Tinker3 · 21/11/2008 16:13

Hi Lully - nice names!! What's your DS called?

I am really keen to get my 12 week scan booked - and can only do it on one of two days due to having no annual leave left to take!!

I really don't feel very pregnant still, so I think the scan will really help me get it into my head! Although having said that, I tried to make my stomach really flat this morning in the shower (I am weird I know) and I couldn't quite manage it - there's def a bump coming!!! LOL!

Hi everyone, I am pregnant after miscarrying at 10 weeks in July. I have been told by the GP I am 6 weeks gone but I think it may be slightly less. I am worried as I have had none of the symptoms that I had last time yet. Is this normal? I have felt tired but not exhausted, breasts have been a bit sensitive today but I put that down to the cold weather (having said that they are aching as I am typing this). Last time I bled until I miscarried this time so far I have had 1 day of spotting and some more spotting today.
I am due to go to the Drs on Monday and am wondering if it is worth asking about an early scan after last time.
I am scared of getting to 12 weeks and finding there is nothing there.
Want to be able to enjoy this time and not be constantly worrying that this pregnancy is going to have the same outcome.

Hopetobemum · 22/11/2008 14:48

Hi MoominMoma

I would definitely ask for an early scan. I misscarried at 22+5 in June and managed to get pregnant again, now I am 12 weeks. I felt very different this time round and experienced spotting for most of the first 10 weeks. Some days the spotting got heavier and I always panicked but scan always reassured me. I went privately a couple of times but then got fed up with paying for it so when the bleeding was particularly bad I went to A&E and insisted on a scan. They were not keen but we instisted. Everything was absolutely fine. They should be able to see the heartbeat at 6 weeks so I think you should ask for an early pregnancy scan. Nobody can blame you for worrying.

MoominMoma · 22/11/2008 19:12

Hi Hopetobemum, I am going to I think as it is driving me up the wall. I have had a tiny amount of spotting today and don't want to wait and see if I make it to 12 weeks.
My Dr is so laid back and doesn't seem to bothered by the last miscarriage. I hope that you carry your baby to full term this time. I swear to God I knew people miscarried etc but it is only when you start trying yourself that you realize how fraught it can all get. I have my fingers crossed for you and everyone else in this position.

lydiathetattooedlady · 22/11/2008 19:32

hi all, im afetr a bit of advice regarding early scan. whereas have had no bleeding, my abdomen is very tender touch, which it wasnt in 1st pregnancy. also the birthing centre where i live is so small that it seems i am going to have to wait til at least 14 weeks, which will be mid january, as they're closed over xmas and new year, for my first scan. was wondering if anyone had paid to go private with someone like babybond? and how much it cost them? i really dont think i can wait til mid january to know everything is ok. it seems likesuch a long wait as it will be the new year!

Hopetobemum · 22/11/2008 21:45

Hi MoonminMoma
Thank you for your wishes, I too hope your pregnancy will work out for you this time. It makes me so mad when I hear doctors are relaxed about the miscarriages. I know it happens a lot but it doesn't matter how many other people this happened to when it happens to you. Don't let the doctors make you feel you like your are overreacting, they are not the ones going through what you are going through! If you don't get the checks/scans you want from your Dr., go elsewhere. I belong to my local hospital but got myself refered to a London hospital with this pregnancy(as that is where I lost my twins, I was on my way to work)and they are absolutely fantastic, understanding. They can'd to enough for me and check everything - blood, cervix etc. on top of the normal checks).
Lydiathetattooedlady - I went to see a gyneacologist in a private hospital near where I live. I paid £160 per visit. If you call BUPA or google on the Internet you should be able to find a private practicioner near you. I know it is a lot of money and they all say that there is not much that can be done in the first 12 weeks if it is not meant to be. So it really depends whether it is worth to you to pay the money or wait a few more weeks. However, I would definitely push for a scan before Xmas on NHS otherwise you are going to drive yourself mad. Can you not go to a different, bigger hospital?

LullyMummaOfOne · 24/11/2008 09:28

Hi Tink, any news on your date for your scan yet? It cant be to far away. I havent any annaul leave to take either so im coming clean to my boss, that way i have every right to take the time off work.

How is everyone feeling today? My DS & DH have a bad cold so am hoping i dont get it! Last thing i want is to be ill.

Hope everyone is well, im now 9 weeks 2 days and yep im still counting down the days until my 12 week scan!!

LullyMummaOfOne · 24/11/2008 09:31

Oh Lydiathetattoolady, i paid for an early assessment scan with BabyBond 2 weeks ago. It cost me £95 and every penny was well spent. They took ages looking at everything and making sure everything was ok. I got to see the tiny fetus and heartbeat which made me feel very positive. I would recommend it earlier than 8 weeks though. Good luck

MoominMoma · 24/11/2008 14:29

I went for a scan this morning and found that I am only 4 weeks gone, makes sense to me but the Dr did keep insisting I was nearly 7 even when my blood test showed otherwise (found that out at the EPU today). They said that it was likely they wouldn't find anything as its so early, there was a sac so she seems quite positive. They have done some blood tests and I am going back next Tuesday for a follow up scan. Feeling relieved in a way.
I hope that everyone is feeling fine today and that things are going along well. x

Tinker3 · 25/11/2008 10:21

Hello everyone!

Still peep from the midwife!??? so I will call later today to chase her up!

I will be 10 weeks on Friday and I am feeling OK! - The idea of certain foods makes me feel queasy and certain smells really get to me (like my colleague's perfume.... Aghhhh!) but apart from that, I am fine! Still no sickness - hoorah!!!

This is a bit gross but anyone got an abundance of discharge downstairs??!! I have and it's driving me mad... keep dashing to the loo thinking it's bleeding!!!

OP posts:
Tinker3 · 25/11/2008 10:22

Ooopps, I was meant to say 'still no peep'

Acceber · 25/11/2008 15:21

Hi Tink!

I am with you with the dashing to the loo and things!

I am also waiting for the midwife but I am only 8 weeks on Friday so going to give it another week.

Not feeling too bad, hardly any sickness (which I wondering if I should worry about), but taken to wearing a sports bra to bed due to sore boobies lolling all over the place!

JLo2 · 25/11/2008 16:25

Anyone had any weird cravings yet?

I can't get enough prawn cocktail crisps at the moment I do normally like them, but rarely eat them. At the moment it's all I can think about

Also got a raging thirst, but I think that's due to a stinking cold rather than anything else.

I have had 6 hours without bleeding. Trying not to get too excited about it thought. I am due back at the EPU on Tuesday for another scan. My HCG levels are going up as they should but I don't feel pregnant like I did last time.
Oh well, shall wait and see what happens. Hope everyone else is ok this evening.

Hi MarxAndSparks
I am having a bad day, the bleeding stopped Wednesday night and I was pleased but woke up this morning and it is back. If one more person tells me to stay positive I think I will clonk them one!! I am trying but it is so hard and Tuesday seems so far away. Have spoken to the EPU and they were reassuring but basically its a case of wait and see. I still have no symptoms but I know every pregnancy is different and my symptoms last time didn't get me anywhere.

How are things with you today?

Well Tuesday is nearly here and I am dreading it. The bleeding has stopped (none since Friday morning) but instead of being pleased about it I am still worrying. My boobs feel a little different but not massively so and I am feeling hungrier than usual. Have convinced myself that I am imagining the symptoms.
