Hi there,

I am 4/5 weeks pregnant for the first time and really nervous about miscarrying - just want to wrap myself up in cotton wool ! Keep trying to quash my excitemnet but it's hard..

Great news JL Annoying about the dates though. How many weeks are you?

JLo2 · 07/11/2008 17:19

My dates suggest 7 weeks, but the sonographer says it's probably more likely six, although she did say it may not be accurate as it was so early.
TBH I was so happy to see a little bean with a visible heartbeat that I didn't really care , it wasn't until afterwards that I started to worry again I won't know for sure until I have a later scan.
Why does time go so slowly.......

ladylush · 07/11/2008 17:26

Try not to worry - lots of women get told their baby is small for dates then it seems to catch up later on (probably due to unreliability of scanning equipment).

JLo2 · 07/11/2008 17:52

Thanks ladylush The stupid thing is I've been told in previous pregancies the whole 'it's small for dates' thing and not really taken much notice. I think it's just because I'm so impatient about getting past that 12 week mark and it seems to be taking sooooooo long

Has anyone told anyone yet or are you keeping things quiet? My DH wants to tell everyone, but I am unsure.

highrise · 08/11/2008 19:44

Congratulations Activeapple, same here, didn't know about cramping and was initially really worried until I bought a book and looked on the net.

We haven't told anyone yet and don't intend to until after 12 week scan, just so nervous about everything.

Good luck with appointment, I've got mine on 21st Nov although have seen doc already, didn't say much excpet come back in 3 weeks and take folic acid.

georgimama · 08/11/2008 19:49

I'm not PG, but just wanted to say I muchly sympathise as I was exactly like this and didn't start to relax about risk of MC until I was about 20 weeks.

At which point I began to fret about premature delivery. Didn't feel really happy until about 35 weeks. Basically I ruined my pregnancy for myself. Please try not to fret (easier said than done) and enjoy all the stages rather than wishing them away - I'm not ready for another baby but I do kind of wish I was pregnant and enjoying it iyswim.

Hello everyone... Really glad I started this thred as it seems to be helping everyone!! .

I have started saying 'I am in my 8th week' now, rather than 'I am 7 weeks' - sounds further on!! Which is silly really, I know! But that's how my Doctor put it! I am feeling OK, still no sickness thank god - just a really bloated tummy!

I went to the doctor on Friday and that was something of nothing to be honest - I had to ask HER to take my blood pressure, which then triggered her to check my heart and take a urine sample, to which I asked why and it's because apparently us pregnant ladies are very susceptible to water infections!?? Anyone else had this?!

I think Doctors are very much in the mindset of 'thousands of people get pregnant - go home and get on with it' So that was that!

To confess though, I am still testing every week because I am so paranoid of having a missed miscarriage.. My sister-in-law had a scan at 12 weeks only to be told the baby had died at 7 weeks - she had no idea... Anyone else doing this?? Or am I just mad?!

hi everyone, i just found out on thurs im pregnant 5 weeks on wed. this one not at all planned was on pill, terrified of missed miscarriage, my friend had this and it was terrrible.
tinker3 i have got a left over digital clear blue which predicts how far gone and im hanging on to it to test in another couple of weeeks cos im so paranoid!

ladylush · 09/11/2008 21:49

Yep I'm doing those tests weekly. I've had 2 mmc and I'm using those conception indicators as a reassurance aid.

LullyMummaOfOne · 10/11/2008 10:13

Me to im also still testing each week, it to the point now that the positive line comes up before the test line! Still if it keeps my thought positive i will continue!

This week needs to fly by as my 8 week scan is on Saturday. My DH is away until Thursday so im sure that will pass the time.

Im feeling quite bloated now and still get evening sickness most nights although i have not been sick yet. Im craving cold fruit straight out the firdge, ive already eaten 3 tangerines, an apple, banana & 3 weebebix this morning!

Tinker3 · 10/11/2008 16:58

Glad it's not just me then!!

I am very tired today and all I want to eat is white bread (even though I'm usually only a brown bread kind of girl..!? Very weird!

Congratulations Lydia and thanks for the advice Georgimama

Hope this week flies by for you Lully.. Not long now!

I'm so jealous of all those having early scans! I just want to know that everything is ok - I feel sick, have sore boobs, and I'm tired, but it doesn't feel real yet, even though it's the second time around for me.

ladylush · 10/11/2008 18:09

white bread good for you in pregnancy. Think it has more folic acid.
I'm 6 weeks tomorrow. So tomorrow I can say I'm in my 7th week - talk about stretching it I feel like I've been pregnant forever. Really bad headache all day today.

Sweetie34 · 11/11/2008 11:45

Hi All, glad to see lots of new ladies onhere!! I am officially 7 weeks and 2 days today - only another 229 (approx) to go!!

No sicknes yet, but a fat(ter) belly. Boobs no bigger than usual, which I like.

Luckily, getting fortnightly scans at teh moment due to thyroid problems and a 'failure to thrive' first time around. Saw my 'little castinet' a week ago and meeting again on Mon (17th). It's liek a date - i'm THAT EXCITED!

ray81 · 11/11/2008 12:55

Hi guys can i join?

i have had a BFP today after bnearly 5 years of trying a 2 Mc.
this will be my second baby as have DD who is nearly 7.

I am so so so worried that i will lose, my back early aches and thats what happened the lst time i MCed. Am only 4 weeks so realy early how do we get early scans ? any chance of me having one do you think?

lydiathetattooedlady · 11/11/2008 17:29

i just did my digital test again today as sooooo paranoid-little confused as tested on thurs and said 1-2 weeks, just done it now and jumped to 3+ weeks pregnant in 5 days, no 2-3 weeks eek!
feel so fat today had to take ny belt out my trousers at work he he!
ray81 congratulations! come worry with the best of us!

lydiathetattooedlady · 11/11/2008 17:47

just read my leaflet and i am now within the space of 4 days gone from being 3-4 weeks pregnant to over 5weeks i dunno whats happening!

ladylush · 11/11/2008 17:53

Those conception indicators are just a guide. They measure HCG and give approximations based on the HCG levels (which vary massively). I would be more worried about a low HCG count than a high one, but if you're worried you could ask your G.P.

lydiathetattooedlady · 11/11/2008 18:04

phew thanks for the info ladylush just all confused over this unexpected pregnancy milarky!

Tinker3 · 11/11/2008 21:19

Ray - I remember you from the conception thred - I am truly, truly thrilled for you! 5 years is a long time to be be waiting. I have everything crossed for you and hope all goes well! Keep resting and if you have any pain or bleeding, go see your GP and ask for an early scan... In fact, given what you've been through, I'm sure if you explain, they would refer you anyway? Failing that - why not go private? Peace of mind is worth any price in my mind!

Question for you other ladies... Has anyone thought about buying a heart monitor??!!! I have heard these can be really reassuring?

ray81 · 12/11/2008 08:41

Hi Tinker,

i remember you too. Thanks for the good luck i am realy hoping that this one is a keeper. i must admit that i do feel different to when i did when i was Pg and had my miscarriages. I had no idea i was Pg then but this time i kinda knew before id even done the test and i think that must be a good sign i actually feel pregnant which is great.

I was taking Clomid so i do think the docs will monitor me anyway as could be multiples which would be just fantastic. if they dont do an early scan we will go private as i would rather have the peace of mind. I just have to waitt 2 weeks which is a long time at this stage its almost like to 2ww again. only 4 weeks and they cant do the scan until 6 weeks.

Ive got very bad backache but then my firend had that to so trying not to worry to much and having sharp pains in the womb area which i am hoping is the bedding in pains.
Did another test this morn and still positive (so scared it would be negative). I am so so so happy its great.

Tinker3 · 13/11/2008 10:06

Morning ladies!

I have some more bleeding today (brown and sticky - sorry too much info) and I felt really weird last night - pain on the left side and dizzy.. I was off my food too for the first time last night too... And for the last 2 days I have had cronic back ache... Doesn't sound good does it?

I guess I just have to watch this space..

How's everyone else doing?
