Due January 2027 anyone?

I couldn’t see an existing thread, so I thought I’d start one. If there is one already going, please point me in the right direction - though I imagine there are not many people due in this month just yet!!

I just found out I’m pregnant. I’ve calculated my due date to be the 1st of January 2027.

This is my third pregnancy. It’s come as a bit of a shock, but a very happy one! My first two were quite close together, and I thought I’d left the baby phase behind. I also gave away all our baby stuff already 🫠

It would be nice to chat to others in the same stage of pregnancy as we go through it all together 🥰

I was classed as high risk with my last for having psoriasis (like i had it once on my eyelid lol) and raynauds which I thought was excessive but LOVED all the growth scans and extra appointments. Makes time go quicker :)

I'm booking a private scan for 16 weeks to find out the gender, anyone else finding out!? I cant wait much longer its driving me crazy!

Already have a little girl and would love another but had a feeling it was a boy as pregnancies were so different and I was craving salt and vinegar crisps but since the scan I've uploaded the scan to a couple nub theory groups and obviously ChatGPT and they've all said leaning towards a girl!

My date has gone back a day, official due date is now 24th January, anyone else??

I’ll find out at my 20 week scan in just over a month. My date was moved based on the scan from around 20th Jan to 9th Jan so nearly 2 weeks further on that we thought, but we weren’t sure of the dates anyway

Afternoon girls. Had my first scan today and so buzzing. Feels so much more real now. What we thinking?! 🩷🩵

That’s just like scan I had on Monday, and guessed it was a girl. Then the NIPT test confirmed 🥰 the nub theory worked twice for me!!

I don’t understand what I’m looking for with the nub theory!

Apparently if the nub is in line with the spine it’s a girl and if it’s at a 30 degree angle it’s a boy! I think there’s also markers in the skull and heart rate xx

17 + 1 here and know I’m having a baby boy ☺️

I can’t work out what the nub is on my scan, or on any of my previous pregnancy scans. Just the spine and the legs!

I bought a blanket at xmas (the whole wrapping it and putting it under the tree manifesting tradition haha <3) and a mamas and papas babygrow as I couldn't help myself a few weeks ago. But other than that no! I find out the gender on the 9th and I'm sure I'll make up for it after :)
My maternity pay is really rubbish this time round so having to save a lot so trying not to go overboard.
I've forgot what I need to get but we do have a few things already from my first.

erihskreb · 29/07/2026 12:45

Today we’re having the room plastered that will eventually be the baby’s room 🥰 I’m telling myself I’m not allowed to start buying things until the room has finished being decorated so I have somewhere to put them!

Just got back from my second midwife appointment and at her recommendation have now booked NCT class and am looking for a pregnancy pillow. Does anyone have one they’d recommend/avoid?

very wise haha. Or youll have baby stuff everywhere and if you're anything like me youll forget where half is and buy things again lol.
I'm using my pregnancy pillow from last time. I have a purflo breathe which I find really comfortable. I also have the bbhugme and its good but I dont think its worth the price.

MustBeThursday · 29/07/2026 17:45

We got rid of all of our baby stuff years ago except for the sentimental outfits as we weren’t expecting to have a third. I’d not bought anything for baby (except a couple of maternity basics in sales as bump appeared alarmingly fast but not sure that counts as “for baby”!) until last week when picked up a neutral baby grow in Next because I couldn’t resist it!

JemRose · 30/07/2026 10:14

What would you do?

Advice needed!

My local hospital (North Devon Hospital in Barnstaple, 20 mins drive from me, most rural large hospital in mainland England) has just announced it will be suspending birth services. The next closest hospital from me is a 2 hour drive.

This is my third baby, and my last was born in less than 2 hours...

Honestly terrified.

ChasingRainbow5 · 30/07/2026 10:47

@JemRose oh gosh, I'm not sure what I'd do... was your last born on/before/after their due date? I have heard of people asking to be induced in similar circumstances, I don't know what the official guidance on that would be. Have you ever considered a home birth?

The only other thing I could think of would be booking into a hotel or air bnb closer to the hospital around your due date but that's obviously not ideal when you have other children and don't know exactly when it'll happen.

But I suppose the most obvious advice would be speak to your midwife, they might have local guidance/protocol.

This is actually a great idea booking into a hotel in Exeter or Bristol close to the hospital around the due date... Thank you I will definitely look into that! Im not due til January so possible enough time to get a cheap deal.

I had home births for my last 2 babies. My first needed a quick hospital transfer after getting stuck, we were lucky the transfer was only 20 minutes, he might not have survived 2 hours. My second the midwives didn't show up due to the receptionist not passing on the message so I gave birth alone at home (would prefer not to do this again, we were lucky everything was fine). So in answer to your question, yes, I would absolutely prefer a home birth, but I don't feel comfortable planning for a home birth under the current shit care climate where I can't guarantee midwives will attend and if anything goes wrong the ambulance transfer time is 2+ hours.

My sister is also expecting and due to give birth in 5 weeks, so this news has hit her the hardest. She also lives even more rurally so the travel time is over 2 hours and it's her first baby! Midwives have offered no solutions and are honestly overwhelmed and at a loss as of what to do - this has all come from higher up and they have no solutions to offer at all currently.

If anyone has time to sign the petition to try and get the hospital reinstated, please do! https://www.ianroome.uk/campaigns/save-our-maternity-services?fbclid=IwY2xjawTX7cdleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETBub2JpcnZLNDlXN1ZIRHJXc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHt8_cIFPXiJ3D3FumrQ3wmrYzjDttEdptigdofSNn7vkGg9EerXSOFrZz-hx_aem_k9bvNnuYkZ4YDBDs9zr1MA

erihskreb · 30/07/2026 11:10

@Lollie2903 thanks - I was sceptical that any pillow could be worth £150 so good to have that confirmed!

@JemRose omg! I’d probably also be in the camp of staying at an Airbnb closer to the other hospital around the due date but that’s hardly convenient with other DC and could be pricey if you go before the due date and then have to extend if baby is late! The other option could be to book a private midwife for a homebirth to guarantee they’d show up but you’d still have the issue of a long transfer if needed.

ChasingRainbow5 · 30/07/2026 11:19

@JemRose no I wouldn't be keen on a home birth in that situation, I'm pretty risk averse anyway so I'd always prefer to be closer to a hospital. I have family in Exeter so if we time it right they could come here for my birth and you could move in 😂I hope it all goes ok for your sister, that must be really scary. I'll sign the petition now.

@erihskreb I have this pillow and really like it, I didn't want a massive one taking up half the bed: Neksong Babybub - Bub's Maternity Pillow™, Wedge Pregnancy Pillow for Sleeping for Back, Hips, Legs, Adjustable Soft Comfort Maternity Body Pillows (Gold) : Amazon.co.uk: Home & Kitchen
