Oh and mental imagery right back at ya jeanjeannie.

Katherine having a poo whilst changing her bum is like watching wholegrain mustard coming out of a sausage machine.

Enjoy

Hahahahaha johnworf superb description of breastfed poo!!! Good old Katherine. Verity makes a squirting sound...like the noise of a water toy when you squeeze the last bit of water out of it ..and then she shoots out the nuclear yellow liquid everywhere.......It's a joy
Having mainly formula fed DD1 I still can't get over breastfed poo.......I'm amazed by the stuff...that colour! AND where DO the mustard seems come from???

LOL at your DS1....hahahah that's classic.

Slings;I was given a baby bjorn thing and to tell the truth it gave me horrendous back ache...friends reccommended a wrap sling such as "hugabub" (that cost £50!)so I went and bought 6 meters of stretch jersey off e-bay (99p a meter)and downloaded the knotting instructions off one of those knit yer own sites (am I cheap or what?)and I'm still using it now he's 8 mths...they are very comfortable, adjustable and versatile, easy once you have done it a couple of times, and there are different ways of wrapping for bfing a tiny, carrying a slightly bigger one and having one like mine facing out and they multi task as a sunshade over the pram, an emergency blanket when the sun suddenly dissapears and a shawl for me one chilly evening when ds was tucked up...well worth £6

Kaz - thanks, nope, none of those apply (so far!)

Breast milk is really good for sticky eyes, a quick squirt really works wonders, will they let you give Katherine a little squirt?

Msdynamo and babycakes good to hear from you both.

FloriaTosca I'm soooo impressed with your 'Vision On' like craft skills! I wish I could do stuff like that. I find it much easier to whip out a credit card and buy Yep, I'm a saddo. I yearn to be a luddite though and chuck all the modern day gizmo's away and start from scratch.

jeanjeannie funnily enough I asked the nurse today where do the seeds come from? (how bizarre is that?). She told me that it's undigested fat from the milk. No idea what happens with formula milk but we did also discuss that it's a completely different colour/consistency as well (I bottle fed my DD but not my DS's - no conscious reason, just got braver as I got older).

As you can see ladies, I need to get out more as all I can muster that is enlightening today is I've spoken to a nurse about shit.

And there ya have it............

minnie what do I do with the breast milk? Squirt her in the eye with it? Won't that blind her?

Does this mean I'll have to stick each boob through each porthole of the incubator and aim? More imagery I'm afraid ladies

jeanjeannie - if the 'seeds' were blackish, then it might be blood, most likely from you. Depends if you are having lots of pain feeding. My DS has a suck like a hoover and made me bleed a few times; it always came out in the poo as little black flecks, nothing to worry about.

jeanjeannie · 18/06/2008 18:42

Floriatosca I too am stunned by your craft skills. I'm ashamed to say I'm armed with a degree in fashion and a fat lot of good that's done me....put me off making things for life I have looked at pics of slings and thought..."pah, I could make that".....and then I think....Nah, I'll just buy one. Great to hear you're still using it though - must work.

I'm ordering one tonight as I've got just over a week until DP goes back to being Bob the Builder....and I'll be stuck with a sucking maniac baby and one VERY annoyed toddler!

Cheers thumbwitch I'll keep an eye out - so far the seeds are white - like little fat desposits. No pain on feeding just SO MUCH of it....literally hours...and she is hungry..had 2 hours sleep since this time last night

Yes, breastmilk into sticky eyes...SCBU recommended that with DD1 and it works. johnworf I think you definately should give it a go through the incubator portholes...and take a photo...that'd be a fab one for the profile shots I must get round to doing my profile and putting up some boasting pics of the 2DC !

johnworf she is your baby you have every right and reason to protect her. Don't worry about it she is very special. Breast milk is certainly useful with the sticky eyes term babies get and yes you just squirt it in it has antibacterial and anti fungal qualities. Probably not a good idea to do it to Katherine though it would quite probably give her a shock and make her heart rate drop. If it happened when she is bigger deffo worth a go.

Libra1975 head much better had a really lazy day until I had to go shopping because had no more food in house

pigley bump dropped is good going down into pelvis

gilly totally agree I don't believe you should rule anything out because sometimes things do go wrong but I do believe that fear and anxiety really effect how a delivery goes. You just have to look at the stats on home births where women are more likely to be relaxed and cared for by some they know. They have fewer complications, and tend to be faster.

Aggie not got SPD but have had a chronic back problem for years meaning not slept for more than 2-3 hours at a time for years even worse if not in my own bed. Must be so hard if you are not used to it.

RUMPEL not actually in injury although I have a slight deformity in my lower spine. It's been aggravated and made worse by my previous jobs, age and now pregnancy although saying that the support I have for my tummy muscles and the exercises she gave me are helping.

Johnworf & Jeanjeanie; re-read what I wrote and it does sound like I "did" something clever...I'm ashamed to say all I did was copy the instructions on how to wrap a long piece of material round me ( I shouldnt have said knotted)..the instructions are for a "kari-me" sling if you want to google them. I hope you find the right one for you.

kaz1967 are you just checking we're awake? Well, I'm half awake so that'll have to do....you really confused me with those names. I was thinking 'who the hell is kaz talking to? I've never even seen those people post'.

I'll ask tomorrow about squirting Katherine with some milk or possibly (and even better) putting some in a pot for them to bathe her eye with. Sounds very medieval to me but if it works who am I to argue?! What do you ladies recommened for nappy rash? yak milk and frog spawn? Whoo hooo!

Yes jeanjeannie you must post some pics of your lovely LO so we can all coo over her

I, on the other hand, won't be posting pics of my boobs and incubator as it will just scare small children and animals

It's just been decided by this week's OK magazine's Ideal Man Quiz that George Clooney is indeed my ideal man. I have announced to DH that he must pack and leave as George will be joining me sometime soon. He took the news well and asked if he could finish watching Sweden v Russia before he goes.......well that's that then

Other than this breaking news nothing more of note happened in my day. I'm £50 lighter as DD wanted needed some new interview clothes for tomorrow. She brought me Angel Delight with a flake stuck in it as a bribe. Or was that as payment? Not sure.

FloriaTosca I've already given you the title of High Priestess of Making Stuff so I'm afraid it's all too late in the day to be backtracking and saying you really can't make stuff. Psh!

Could I please place an order with you? I would like you to macrame a new car for me...In gold lamé please! (if not available, pink angora).

Yak milk and frog spawn are very good, but unfortunately, frog spawn is out of season at the moment and when I checked, Waitrose had run out of Yak milk!

Seriously, it worked for DD, (breast milk in the eyes, that is, not Yak milk and frog spawn!)

Sorry, in a silly mood tonight for some reason!

hello all

No mumsnetting for me today - another horrendous day at work - didn't get a lunch break and didn't leave till near seven. It's stressful and knackering at the mo but at least its making the days go quick - I am so glad to be 27 weeks pg today!! That once seemed so far off.

Also, kinda glad not to have encountered jw's "wholegrain mustard coming out of a sausage machine" imagery while eating my mustard and sausage sandwich at my desk ;O

But get this - one of the lazy sodding blokes I work with didnt come in today because an insect bit him and made the poor love feel poorly!

he wants to try having elephant ankles and heartburn for a few days and see how that feels!

Ooooh mrsboogie you need to find another job. Do you perchance work in the white slave trade? It sounds like you do. As for the whimpy bloke, don't be too hard on him after all it was probably a HUGE insect that bit him!

What are the chances you'd be eating sausage and wholegrain mustard sandwiches just as Katherine was................never mind

Katherine has gained another 41 grams which takes her to just under 2lbs. She's gi-normous now!!! (I wish). All her canulas and lines are now out and she's just got the ventilator and NG tube for feeding. Docs are trying to get her off the ventilator at the mo but this PDA hasn't closed and the first course of indomethycin hasn't worked so they'll be trying her on another soon. Fingers crossed for next time.

Handed my Mat 1B in yesterday and notified the 8th of sept as my intended day to stat marernity leave, seems ages away but have about 3 weeks off over the school summer holidays so it's not so long. johnworf No, i don't use Yak's milk...tend to find it too thick. I prefer the sperm of the Tazmanian Devil...it's a bit pricey but the results are fantastic

floriatosca if Johnworf gets a car can i have a knitted extension please? something like a conservatory would be nice.....in cream cotton 4ply.....lovely, thanks

Been looking at slings....and think for feeding I need an easy-to-wear and change sides number. I like the look of hotslings as they do them in very stylish fabrics....not weird, veg-coloured hemp stuff! Slave to fashion me...la, la, la I don't care

Cor...Katherine is loving her grub by the sounds of it...just waiting for her to overtake Verity! Both of them are piling on the pounds....good girls x

Hello everyone,

Sorry not been on board, so to speak, but DS super poorly with projectile vomit in the street yesterday all over himself and pushchair (has anyone tried to get sick out of a pushchair - there are more nooks and crevices than you ever thought....). More vomit last night and this morning so down to docs who say usual thing 'virus, re-hydrate' etc, easier said than done when you have a toddler who screams when you approache with diarolyte solution. Just when I thought I'd got the holiday washing done my machine is back on overtime with sheets and the like. Anyway, having to be proper mumsy to poor ds who is very sorrowful

Sending all you lovely ladies super hugs and will check in when get a mo..
