Hi Mapleleaf - I didn't realise until 6 weeks and was only a few symptoms like having pins and needles in arms, sore boobs and craving bready food - and I ignored them as long as possible as I had got used to crushing disappointment when AF arived after 2 months of am I aren't I hell. Was about 8 or 9 weeks before sickness etc really kicked in.

I don't think DH and I have celebrated yet really - my family tried to make a toast at easter when we were 11ish weeks and felt wrong. We are still holding off on buying things - not sure why cos am trying to be blissfully ignorant and enjoy it now but you learn so much from MC and then you come on here and learn that it can happen anytime and that actually the worry never goes away even after they are born - am off to buy some valium

spugs · 13/06/2008 16:56

hiya, just popping in to catch up. i was on here up until 12 weeks ago when i had my little girl and i remember how stressful a time it is being pregnant after a mmc/mc. jules and ilike to sleep, i cant beleve your nearly due its flown past so quickly.
feedmenow - congratulations on your pregnancy, ive kept an eye on eris' thread to see how you were (hope you dont mind) x

elibumbum · 13/06/2008 17:44

Hi Supersteph - glad your scan went well and that you are feeling sick now ! I think my nausea is starting to get a little bit worse now I've hit 6 wks(6+2 now). I'm absolutely exhausted too.

Hi Mapleleaf congratulations on your BFP! A previous mc really takes the fun out of being pg. I decided that I would let myself get excited about this pg as I would be no less upset if it went wrong than if I hadn't let myself get excited (if that makes any sense!). Not going to buy anything until a successful 12wk scan though.

Spugs congratulations on the birth of your little girl

Have a scan booked for next tuesday which I'm looking forward to but at the same time very nervous about. It is with the same sonographer who diagnosed my mmc. She was lovely and handled it really well so I would prefer it to be her that tells me the news either way.

cricri · 13/06/2008 18:05

Supersteph Glad your scan went well and that you've been reassured as much as you can be. I'm sure the next scan will be fine too - it's always difficult coming up to the time of your previous losses. The early weeks seem to drag too, especially once you've suffered a mc and you just want to get to 12 weeks.
Mapleleaf Welcome and congratulations on your pregnancy I know exactly what you mean, like Popsy DH and I didn't really relax until the 12 week scan and even now I can't quite believe that I am actually having a baby. Just starting to get nervous in the run-up to the 20-week scan next Thursday now! Unfortunately after a mc the worry doesn't ever seem to stop. But you're in good hands here - this thread has been a great help to me.
elibumbum Good luck for your scan on Tuesday.
Hello to everybody else - Popsy did you book a doula in the end? I found a good one and feel really positive about the birth now.

perkypopsy · 13/06/2008 18:40

Hiya cricri can't believe you are nearly 20 weeks now - where has the time gone?? I have booked a doula - she is totally fab - is worth it just for the initial consultation (well almost :-))
Big WAVES and for spugs - fab to hear from you
feedmenow small whispered congrats to you - everything is crossed in a very low key way

splishsplosh · 13/06/2008 21:10

Sorry to hear your sad news, Trying , I hope you get lots of help now

Congratulations Steph,it's a relief to have that first scan, but of course the worry doesn't go away

Welcome to Maple and any other newcomers I've missed - I've got a bit behind lately

I've booked a doula too, it's making me feel better about the birth, as last time, even though I was already admitted I was on my own on an antenatal ward for most of the time - I want to make sure that doesn't happen again.

I'm 24+5 now, and still looking podgy rather than preggy. I think there's a more pg shape to my increasing girth, but people still seem astonished when I tell them

What a weekend. Good news and bad.
Poor Elli.

All still good here. Week 25. I think that my baby has had enough of me dancing and singing. Foo Fighters last weekend, Isle of Wight Friday & Saturday. Poor thing probably feels like I am trying to shake him/her out.

Thats it for me now. I am done in.

I hope everyone is all ok.

perkypopsy · 16/06/2008 12:20

Get you yummy mummy-to-be Ronny - v. v. jealous of your social life - mine is mostly sitting/lying/eating/not drinking and trying to recover from work...

Back is feeling better today - a friend got me a HUGE triangle pillow from argos which i can wrap around myself - problem is the cat has realised it makes a nice little round nest so waits till I am asleep and hops onto my tum - ouch!

14 weeks to go YIKES
starting pregnancy yoga tomoz - excited to meet other mums to be yay

ronshar · 16/06/2008 12:30

Oh you must have the wrong impression Pops. I do absolutely nothing for the rest of the time. If you could have seen me last night yo wouldnt be envious. Whale, greenpeace, roll me off the sofa were the key words.

perkypopsy · 16/06/2008 16:22

Ha ha - I felt really lazy lying on the sofa so made huge effort to get off arse and managed to get into garden for late afternoon sun - hmmm don't think have ever been so shit at being active - have booked ben and jerries fez in Clapham for july to make me feel better about not eing young free and single anymore - what's not to like, free icecream, music and sunshine (well hopefully )

elibumbum · 17/06/2008 12:03

Just got back from my scan. They found a HEARTBEAT!!!! . Every thing looks normal so far. She confirmed my dates and I am 7 + 0 weeks today.

I'm probably not going to stop worrying but I'm hugely relieved. Have a nuchal scan booked for next month - so can start counting down the days to that now!

brookeslay · 17/06/2008 12:55

hello all lovely ladies. Can i ask a quick question what do you say to your doctor to give you an early scan. My partner does have problems that may affect the baby so its important i know the date accurately. Many thanks also while I`m asking what supplements does everyone take in regards on not only nuhelath but to prevent any problems.

ladyhelen2 · 17/06/2008 13:43

Hello all, I posted a few weeks ago but for one reason or another, haven't since.

So sorry to hear of your loss Trying. My heart goes out to you.

I am now 8+6 and counting the days, no make that the hours!, till I reach the 10 week mark. This was exactly when my bleeding started in my last mc and every twinge has me worried. I know the 10 week mark probably means nothing as i have also mc at 10weeks, but god, this part of being pg is just awful. I am just waiting for the worst to happen.

To make matters worse the hospital have refused to scan me again until my NT scan which is an interminable 4 weeks away. Apparantly, because I went to see a (gasp) DOCTOR in the ante natal clinic (referral by my GP) before my appointment at EPU, EPU have now refused to give me another scan at 9/10 weeks (ie now or next week). Grrr. DH thinks I should just leave it and not stress, and I am thinking I will. Whatever happens happens. But I can;t help thinking somewhat put out - after all the EPU are there to help and I'm one more mc on since my last visit there. Grrrrr.

Sorry to rant.

Deep breath and back to work.

elibumbum · 17/06/2008 15:15

Brookeslay My doc was very understanding about requesting an early scan and spoke to the local EPU for me. They wouldn't give me an appt through the doc just for reassurance. My doc said they might let me have one if I called them myself at 6/7wks. If you need a scan for a particular reason then they may well be more accommodating. I went for a private scan in the end - much less hassle!

Supplement wise - a folic acid supplement designed for pregnancy is very important. I take pregnacare at the moment.

ladyhelen2 - So frustrating. I don't think people understand (unless it has happened to them) how stressful it is being pg after a mc. Have you considered a private scan at 10wks if the EPU won't budge? It isn't cheap but money well spent imo for good mental health!

ladyhelen2 · 17/06/2008 15:27

Eli, I have thought about a private scan but have decided against it. I had one with DS (now nearly 3) for the nuchal translucancy test and it was a horrible experience. Although the place was beautiful, the whole experience was so impersonal and I need someone there with all my notes in front of them so at least someone can see what my issues are! So I've ruled that out as I think it would be too stressful.

lackaDAISYcal · 19/06/2008 11:17

hi to the newbies and great news on the scan elibumbum. I hope you can relax a wee bit now!

I'm halfway there . 20 weeks today...wey hey!

Got my scan on Monday and am freaking out a little bit. We never had any bloods done so I'm terrified that they will find something wrong on the scan. Baby has been moving well over the last week, but still much less of a wriggler than both DS and DD. DH is trying to be understanding, but he can't really understand why I'm so panicky and worried. It's going to be a tough weekend I think. At least I'm in at 9:30 on Monday so I don't have hours to wait.

jules...how are you? getting nervous or just fed up with the wiating?

Thanks daisy - still knicker checking but a bit more relaxed! Good luck with your 20 week scan on Monday.

lackaDAISYcal · 19/06/2008 12:47

lol jules, enjoy the lie-ins....while you still can

DD was breach for a long time, so I feel your pain. My ribs just ached and ached. the funny thing is, no-one twigged that she was breach, even my very experienced CMW said she was head down. She turned over one night as i rolled over in bed and I thought I was breaking in two the pain was sooooo bad, but didn't know what it was and things settled after that. It wasn't till my section two weeks later, that she came out all curled up with her legs crossed that they said she had been breach for a long time!

Anyway the moral of that story is there is still time for your DD to turn over herself!

Brookesly, I didn't mean to ignore your post earlier! If you explain to your GP what the issues are, that you have no idea when your last period was so not sure how far on you are at all and that knowing the date is very important....he may be able to refer you for an early scan, although a lot of EPUs are badly stretched and they tend to only scan if there has been any bleeding. Alternatively you can pay for a private one, about £70 iirc.

cricri · 19/06/2008 16:21

Had a bit of a hectic week with work so I haven't had chance to catch up with this thread until now!
Elibumbum Great news from your early scan I had one at 7+3 and it went a long way to helping me through the weeks leading up to the 12 week scan. I just used to focus on the picture when I had down moments.
Ladyhelen Sorry you can't get an early scan and that you've got to wait until the NT one Sometimes the NHS rules are so rigid.
Jules Not long to go now for you is it? 3 weeks? Bet you can't wait, although I know you're disappointed about having a cs.
Daisy I was shaking before my 20 week scan this morning. I just hate the anticipation and the fear that something might be wrong. As it happens everything was OK except the sonographer said the baby was showing some renal pelvic dilation at the moment. Apparently it happens in 2% of pregnancies and it's not severe enough in my case to warrant referral to a consultant. I just have to go back for another scan at 34 weeks to see what the situation is. The downside is that if the dilation is still present at that point then I won't be able to have the home birth I'm planning On the positive side, she did say that in most cases the problem resolved itself so I'm looking on the bright side. The baby may just have had a full bladder and the fluid was backing up into the kidneys. On the plus side, we got 4 pictures rather than the usual one! DH was trying to spot the sex but found it quite tricky. I couldn't really see the screen very well so we don't know what flavour it is! It was good to see the baby again anyway
Hope everybody else is OK.

ronshar · 19/06/2008 20:56

OOOO Jules are you going to be next? I would ask to have the baby now 5lbs 9oz is good enough. Have you "nested" yet? I am just getting the urge to gather in the baby gear. Everything seems to be happening sooner with this pregnancy, massive belly size, urge to buy random baby clothes. Where will it end?

ronshar · 19/06/2008 20:59

Cricri, fingers crossed for you that baby sorts its kidneys out soon. A silver lining is at least you will be able to have a scan to have another look at your beautiful little baby.
